Today on our 2006 Acura RSX we'll be installing the Yakima roof rack system, part numbers Y00408, Y00683 and Y00124. With our load bars already set up, we're ready to go ahead and install them on the vehicle. We'll first open up the doors, and then we can set our load bar onto the roof line. Referring to our fit guide and instructions, we'll measure from the front edge of the windshield molding to the front edge of the foot pack, totaling 5 inches. Now that we have our load bar measured out, we can go ahead and tighten it down. Using the thumb wheel, we'll make the necessary adjustments to secure the foot pack firmly to the roof line. more

Today, on our 2007 BMW 3 series, we'll be test-fitting a Yakima roof rack system. We'll be using the 48-inch bars, part number Y00408, the Landing Pad 11, part number Y00233, as well as the control towers, part number Y00214. Now, we've already got our roof rack system assembled according to the instructions and we're ready to mount it up on our vehicle. The first thing we need to do is open the doors at the four tension points around the corners of the vehicle. You can use your fingernail or a small screwdriver to help pry them open, but be very careful as they are plastic and they are finished in paint. Once weve done that we can take our four landing pads and begin to thread them on the mounting post. more

The bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pounds, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual, to make sure your roof can handle those weights. These do mount to fixed points, so you don't have to worry about measuring out for cross bar spreads. Part number Y03536, this is the SL Adaptor for roof rack towers, to the roof rack bars, and finally, part number Y00245, and this is the Landing Pad that sits on top of your flush mount side rails here, and everything connects to.Now this is a great roof rack system to carry a wide variety of accessories, such as bike racks, cargo baskets or cargo boxes. These are particularly sturdy bars, that have a high weight capacity, although they cannot be used with T Track accessories. They're also going to produce quite a bit of noise while you drive, however Yakima does have fairings that they sell online separately, to take down that wind noise and drag. more
Setting up the Yakima RidgeLine Roof Rack for Flush Rails on a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt- Video
Today on our 2010 Chevy Cobalt, well be test fitting the Yakima Round Bar Roof Racking system, part numbers Y00408, Y00722 and Y00124.Now with our crossbars and feet already assembled, we'll first open up the drivers side and passenger side doors of the vehicle and place the first crossbar onto the vehicle.Then, according to Yakimas fit look up or the included instructions, we will measure from the first part of the glass to the first part of the foot. We will need to measure both the passenger and drivers side of the vehicle to ensure that the crossbar is perpendicular.Once we have established this measurement, we can turn the bolt in the inside of the tower and tighten down the lever to secure the crossbar to the vehicle. It is important to tighten down each side a little bit at a time so one tower does not favor one side of the vehicle. After clamping it down, the crossbar is secured to the vehicle and we'll go ahead and close the doors and were ready for our rear crossbar.We'll open up the doors of the rear of the vehicle, place the rear crossbar on top of the vehicle and again according to Yakima fit look up or the included instructions, we'll measure the crossbar spread. Now the crossbar spread is an important measurement when choosing roof rack accessories. We'll measure from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar and we'll do this for both the passenger and drivers side of the vehicle. more
Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, were going to be test fitting the Yakima Q-Towers Roof Rack System using the 48 inch round crossbars. These are part numbers Y00408, Y00699, Y00606 and Y00124. With our roof rack assembled according to the manufacturers instructions, well first open our front doors, grab the front half of our roof rack, and for the fit guide, were going to measure from our windshield back 8-1/2 inches. This is where the center of our foot will be. Well do this on both sides to make sure our feet are in line with each other. We can then work from side-to-side tightening down each tower and securing it to the roof. With our front crossbar secured in place, well close our front doors. more

Today on our 2013 Hyundai Accent were going to be test fitting the Yakima Round 48-inch Crossbars for Yakima Roof Rack System using part numbers Y00408, Y00699, Y00635 and Y00124. With the roof rack already assembled well set the front crossbar onto the vehicle. Well then check the Yakima Fit Guide for the included instructions to determine the measurement from the front part of the glass to the first part of the Q tower. Well measure the passengers side first part of the glass to the first part of the tower, 4 inches, and then well move to the other side where we will do the same. We need to make sure that we get the crossbar perpendicular to the vehicle to ensure the tower gets a good fit to the vehicle. Once we have established its position, well go ahead and clamp it down and secure the crossbar to the vehicle. more

We all know that Jeeps are very capable vehicles, but putting a roof rack on top of it is going to definitely widen its amount of capabilities. I really like our etrailer basket on top, just because if you have a bunch of people inside, you have a bunch of other stuff in the back, we can actually pretty much double the amount that we can fit in the back up on top of our roof. Does it Fit? Testing the Yakima RidgeLine Roof Rack for Flush Rails on a 2010 Jeep Patriot- Video
Today on our 2010 Jeep Patriot we're going to be test fitting the Yakima RailGrab roof rack system. We're using the 48" round bars - those are part number Y00408 - and the Yakima RailGrab foot pack system. Its part number is Y00138. Now the RailGrab system is designed with a nice rubber protective cover here that allows that to grip onto the rail as the angled bracket portion comes in and what they call RailGrab or grabs around the rail to secure it. This also has a nice scratch-resistant finish to it so it's not going to do any damage to those side rails. Now we've already got the rear bar installed on the vehicle so we'll begin our test fit by placing the front bar up here onto the front roof line of the vehicle. Now as we install these we want to find a fixed point to use for reference. In our case Jeep was nice enough to put some little marks and arrows all the way down the length of the side rails here. more

Today on our 2013 Mazda3. We'll be test fitting the Yakuma control tower roof rack system using the 48 inch round bars. Part number Y00408 Y00214 and two sets of Y00233. With our roof rack system assembled according to the manufactures instruction. We'll begin our test fit by removing the black plastic cover over our fix mounting points. We'll then place our landing pads over our fix mounting points, and secure them through the car using an Allen bolt. We'll do this on all four locations, and give them a shake to make sure they're secured. more

Today on our 2013 Mazda5 we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Control Towers Roof Rack System using the 48" round bars, part numbers Y00408, Y00214, Y00233, and Y00233 again. To begin our test fit we'll remove the black covers over our fixed mounting points and check the threads to be sure they're clean. We'll now take one of our foot packs and place it by each of our four mounting locations. We'll now grab our four bolts. On these bolts we'll want three regular washers and one black rubber washer. The rounded part will be facing down. more

Today on our 2004 Mini Cooper we'll be test fitting the Yakima Round Bar Roof Racking System part numbers y00408, y00683, y00716, and y00124. Now with our Q towers already assembled to our crossbars we'll first start off by locating the slots on the vehicle. We have found that it is easier to insert the Q clips into the hidden slots before installing the bars onto the vehicle. We'll locate the slot using a thin piece of plastic or a credit card. After locating the slot from the measurements Yakima provides we'll slide the Q clip into the hidden slots. Remember that there are two different sets of Q clips. more

It gives it a nice factory-style look thanks to the fixed mounting points, and it also takes out a lot of the hassle of having to measure out from center to center to make sure everything's just right like you would with other roof rack systems.While the round bar system is the most economical and one of the more sturdy roof rack systems offered by Yakima, it does have its downsides where you can't use t-track accessories with this and if you wanted to do that, you could upgrade to the Jet Stream roof rack bars. Also, as far as noise is concerned, with round bars you're going to be experiencing a little bit more of that. You can purchase fairings after-market which you can find on etrailer.com to cut down that wind noise and drag, or you can also upgrade to the aero style core bars which are also sold separately.Also, when you're finished using the roof rack system, these are easy to take off. Simply open up the front of the tower like you see there and that unlocks it and when you lift it out, comes with this plastic piece that you push that in place and now you can leave these in and they're ready for next time so you don't have to keep taking off and putting back on our fixed mounting points.Once we put it back down, you can see that there's this plastic knock out here. more

Today on our 2013 Nissan Altima, we'll be test fitting the Yakima Q Towers roof rack system, with 48" crossbars, part numbers Y00408, Y00727, Y00606, and Y00124. With everything all assembled according to the instructions, we'll begin our test fit by placing the front crossbar onto the front of our roof. We'll then need to measure 15-1/8" from the first part of the glass to the first part of the tower on both the passenger and driver side of the vehicle. This will ensure the front crossbar is perpendicular to the roof. Once we have established this position, we'll then need to tighten the bolt on the inside of the tower, alternating each side, then clamping down the black cover, bringing the clamp tightly up against the roof line of our Altima. With this done, we'll place our rear crossbar onto the rear of our roof and measure the crossbar spread. more
Install: Yakima RidgeLine Roof Rack for Flush Rails on a 2010 Nissan Altima- Video
Today on our 2010 Nissan Altima, we'll be test fitting the Yakima round bar roof rack system, with a length of 48 inches, part number Y00408, the Q-35 Q clips for Yakima Q towers, part number Y00635, and the Yakima Q tower feet for a naked roof, part number Y00124. To begin out test fit, we'll place the front cross bar, already assembled, onto our Altima. The instructions tell us to measure 10 inches from the top edge of the glass to the closest part of the Q tower, to ensure a good fit. By measuring this on both sides of our Altima, our Yakima roof rack will be evenly aligned. Once everything is situated correctly, we'll tighten the thumb screws inside our Q towers, alternating on each side to keep an even fit. When the Q towers are tightened, we can close the cap. Now we'll open our rear doors, and place the back half of the rack onto our Altima. We'll need to measure again from the center of each cross bar, to get the correct placement of our second bar. The cross bar spread should be 32 inches, and as before, we'll measure this on both sides of our Altima. more

Today in our 2014 Subaru XT Crosstrek, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima roof-rack system, consisting of part number Y00408. These are the 48-inch crossbars. Part number Y03536, and these are the round-bar SL adapter kits for the Yakima Baseline, Skyline, and Timberline, and Ridgeline towers, and part number Y00147. These are the Timberline towers for Yakima crossbars, specifically for the raised factory side rails. The Yakima roof-rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof, ranging from bike racks to cargo baskets, to cargo boxes, to water-sport carriers, such as for Kayaks and canoes. To carry these items on your roof, you have two very strong and durable crossbars that have a carrying capacity of 220 pounds, although always double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your vehicle can withstand that weight on its roof. Today on our 2014 Toyota Camry, we are going to be test fitting the Yakima Q Towers roof rack system using the 48 inch round bars. We'll use part numbers Y00408, Y00605, Y00716 and Y00124. With our roof rack assembled according the manufactures instructions, we'll begin our test fit by opening the front doors of our Camry and grabbing the front half of our rack. We'll place it on to the front roof line of our vehicle. For Yakimas fit guide, we are going to measure 8 inches from the rear edge of our wind sheield to the front edge of our foot peg. We want to take this measurement on both sides to be sure that we have our feet in line with each other. With our measurement done on both sides, we'll now pull down on the black levers which will tighten our clips around the underside of our roof line securing our rack to our vehicle. With the front hatch secure, we'll shut our front doors, open our rear doors and grab the rear half of our rack. We'll place it on to the rear portion of our roof. more

This is going to consist of the Yakima Round Bars, part number: Y00408, the baseline towers, part number: Y00146, the adapters for our baseline towers, part number: Y03536, and our fit kit for our Prius, part number: Y06135 and Y06179.The Yakima Round Bar Roof Rack System is a great solution for carrying your vehicle accessories on your roof, whether those are bike racks, ski and snowboard carriers, or cargo baskets as long as they work with the round bars. The crossbars are made out of a solid steel construction, so they're strong and durable and they have a rubber coating, which will help to prevent rust and corrosion.The baseline towers are going to allow us to secure our crossbars to our roof rack, and these do have the option to place in the Yakima Same Key System Lock Core and that's going to prevent theft and tampering. When we remove the cover, you can see our fit kit on the inside. This is going to be custom-cut to our vehicle to give us a nice, secure fit. Any portion that actually touches our vehicle is going to have a rubber coating to prevent any scratches or abrasions.The baseline towers have a weight capacity of 220 pounds, though you do want to double check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that much weight. more

Today on our 2014 Toyota Yaris, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Q Towers roof rack system, using part numbers Y00408, Y00608, Y00608 again, and Y00124. With our roof rack assembled to the manufacturer's instructions, we're going to open our front doors, grab our front bar and place it onto the roofline of our vehicle. Per Yakima's fit guide, we're going to measure 2 3/8 of an inch from the rear of our windshield to the leading edge of our footpad. We'll do this measurement on both sides to be sure we have our feet in line with each other. We can then pull down on the black levers to secure our front bar to our vehicle. With our front secure, we can close our front doors, open our rear doors and grab the rear half of our rack. We'll place it on the rear portion of our roofline. This time our measurement is going to be 32 inches from the center of our front bar to the center of our rear bar. more
Installation: Yakima RidgeLine Roof Rack for Flush Rails on a 2012 Toyota Yaris- Video
Today on our 2012 Toyota Yaris, we'll be test fitting the Yakima roof rack system with the round bars, 48", part number Y00408; the Q8 Q clips for the Yakima Q Towers, part number Y00608; the Q96 Q clips for Yakima Q Towers, part number Y00696; and the Yakima Q Towers roof rack feet, part number Y00124. With our roof rack system assembled according to the instructions, we'll begin by placing half of our roof rack system on the front part of our vehicle. To ensure that we have this in the correct location, we need to measure 6" from the leading edge of the windshield to the closest point on our tower. We'll do this for both the passenger and driver side to make sure that they are in line with each other. Then we'll use the thumb screw to tighten the clamp and then close the lid, which will tighten it even more, securing the front part of our carrier. We'll do this for both the passenger and driver side of the vehicle. more

Today on our 2015 Volkswagen GTI, we will be doing a test fit of the Yakima Q Tower roof rack system. For your round bar here, it's going to be part number Y00408. You also have your Q Towers, which is going to be part number Y00124, as well as two sets of foot packs. You will have your Y00664s, which in this case, is going to be for our back bar, and on the vehicle right now, we have our Y00663. Which, the only difference is that your bars are going to be a little bit shorter on the front than they are on the back for the Q clips here. We'll go ahead and go through how to get everything assembled. We will be using a few different tools, as well. more

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be test fitting the Yakima Q Towers round bar roof rack system using round bar part number Y00408, Q clips part numbers Y00727 and Y00716 and Q Towers part number Y00124. To begin our test fit, we will open our front doors, grab our front bar, and place it on the front part of our roof. To make sure we have our bar in the correct spot, we will measure 8 inches from the leading edge of our windshield to the closest point of our footpad. We will do this on the driver's side as well to make sure our feet are even with each other. We will use our thumb screw to snug our clamp around the roof line of our car. We will go to the driver's side and repeat the same process. By closing the levers on each footpad, that will finish securing our bar to our car. We will now open our rear doors and grab our rear bar, placing it on the rear part of our roof. more
