For your 2004 Honda CR-V the correct parts needed to install a Yakima roof rack are # Y00408, # Y53TR, # Y03536, and # Y00228 which will give you a round bar roof rack.
Once that's installed you'd be able to install a Yakima JayLow kayak carrier part # Y04073 which is a really solid option for a carrier. It is padded and can fold down when not in use plus is very easy to install and use.
