adjustable front mount - skewer removedadjustable rear mount

To fit factory, round, aero, and square crossbars, Yakima designed the fork block and rear mount to be fully adjustable. The claw of each mount removes and repositions in one of three grooves, adapting to the size of your crossbars for a snug fit.

locking skewer closedlocking skewer is open position showing the red adjustment knob

The ForkLift provides a safe mounting point for your bike with an SKS-lockable skewer, which features an integrated adjustment knob. Opening the skewer end shows the red adjustment knob which tightens (or loosens) the hold on the bike fork. The adjustment knob is hidden when you close the end of the skewer. The end of the skewer can be also be locked closed with an SKS core. This will lock your bike to the bike carrier, and secures the bike carrier to the roof rack crossbars.

rear wheel traywheel mounted in tray

An easy-to-adjust, sliding wheel tray adds to the compatibility of the ForkLift. The wheel tray positions easily and includes a ratcheting strap to hold the rear wheel securely in place.

This carrier holds a wide range of bikes, including most bikes with disc brakes.

ForkLift installs with no tools, tightening over your crossbars with adjustment knobs and T-bolts.

The sleek design and automotive finish look great on your vehicle, and the lightweight, sturdy steel construction ensures durability.

Video Transcript for Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review

Today we'll be demonstrating the Yakima Forklift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier part number y02098. The Forklift is the first Yakima fork mount bike carrier to attach directly to factory round and square roof rack crossbars. The rack is easy to install and includes a lockable skewer and sliding rear wheel tray. Now we'll start back here at the rear wheel tray. You'll notice that it does slide back and forth to accommodate varying bike lengths. The ratcheting strap slides in where you can then use the black handle to ratchet it down. When releasing the strap we'll pull the red switch against the black handle and pull the strap out.Moving forward on the bike rack is the rear crossbar clamp.

This clamp also is adjustable to accommodate varying crossbar widths. It uses a T handle which will put the crossbar clamp underneath the crossbar, feed the T bolt through the clamp and turn it 90 degrees. We can then turn the wing nut to tighten the clamp to the crossbar. We'll continue moving forward on our bike rack to the head of the bike rack. It uses the same clamping style, although the clamp on the head of the bike rack is adjustable to three positions to accommodate a variety of crossbar widths. After tightening the head of the bike rack to the front crossbar, we'll position the wing nut parallel with the bike rack, where we can then take this piece and slide it into the head.

You'll notice that it's shape locks the wing nut into place and the skewer will pass through to prevent this piece from moving. This will add a little more security to the bike rack. Using the Yakima SKS lock cores this will lock the bike rack to the vehicle. Now the skewer does have left handed threads so when tightening it down you will need to turn it counter clockwise and when loosing it up you will need to turn it clockwise. We'll now go ahead and mount it to our vehicle. Our vehicle already has a Yakima roof rack system using the round bars.

We'll place the bike rack onto the cross bars, making sure the head of the bike rack is directly over the front crossbar. You'll notice that it fits very nicely onto the crossbar. We'll now bring the clamp up for the head of the bike rack, select the correct position and bring it underneath the crossbar. We'll then make sure our rear mount is positioned correctly. We'll then use the T bolt, pass it through the clamp and tighten it down with the wing nut.

We'll do it the same on the rear clamp. Now here on the front clamp we'll tighten our bike rack down and make sure that that wing nut is parallel. We'll then slide the locking device over the wing nut where we can now install our skewer. With the skewer in place, we're ready to load our bike. We'll need only to make sure that rear wheel strap is undone. We'll place the bike into the bike rack and allow the front fork to fall into the skewer. We can then tighten down our skewer, securing the bike to the bike rack. We'll move back to the rear wheel, where we'll put the strap through the wheel and secure it on the other side of the rack. And just like that our bike is loaded and we're ready to head on down the road. And that completes our demonstration of the Yakima Forklift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier part number y02098.

Good product. However, the one I ordered was supposed to fit the aero cross bars on 2018 Subaru roof racks and it doesn't. In fact the fit is very sloppy and looks unsafe. Sending mine back if they can't find a clamp that fullly contacts all surfaces. 498873

This forklift roof mounted bike carrier part Y02098 will fit most factory bars. The factory bars have to be no wider than 3-7/8 inches wide and 1-7/8 inches tall.

Love this bike rack. Easy to mount (took it off for the snowy winter months), but it is still very secure. Reasonably priced for good quality. 385956

Fits my whispbar crossbars (a lot cheaper than the whispbar-specific rack) and is pretty simple and straightforward to use. I've owned a couple of other universal sort of racks (fit lots of bikes, fit lots of crossbars) and this one is a good one both in terms of simple initial installation on your vehicle and also simple loading/unloading of bike. 198082

The clamps fit factory oval cross bars. No adapters necessary. Setup on my 04 Outback took 20 minutes. 59150

Once I figured out that my factory crossbars *could be moved* everything worked (2009 Subaru Outback). If you happen to have fixed position crossbars, and your bike's wheelbase just happens to place the rear wheel exactly in the middle of the rear clamp, then it won't work (even if you get the free fix). The rear tire ratcheting tie down (wheel tray) can't be placed suitably close to the rear wheel for buckling. Also, the clamps don't *exactly* match the shape of my crossbars, so the gripping force is not spread out. I need a notch between the upper and middle notches, or a rubbery, compressible surface. 44432
