it is a decent cheap solution to putting a canoe on a factory rack. with some fiddling around i got the brackets onto my 99 explorer crossbars. the canoe goes on easily and you can really make it very secure using all the straps and tie-downs that are included. the bad thing is it is difficult to get canoe down by yourself it has to be lifted up and over the Keelover brackets. two people- no problem 68108

While this wasn't the product we originally ordered, this is the replacement. It works as well and secures just as easy as the older model. 140978

Managers at Scheels Store were impressed with the product and how easily it adapted on the vehicle (99 GMC Yukon) and how the canoe easily mated and secured onto the carrier. It was a lot better product for carrying canoes than was offered by Cabellas or Scheels. It secured our new canoe perfectly for our drive home 65 miles away. No shifting or loosening of the tie-downs. Top Notch. 121771

I purchased the product to make it possible to haul a 30+ year-old White fiberglass canoe on the standard roof-rack of a 2013 Subaru Outback. The kit works very well, but some experimentation was involved. Due to the tapering width of the canoe, I use haul kit with the front guides reversed to face the inside of the canoe gunwhales. In the back the guides are used as intended, facing the outside of the gunwhales. 662225

ETrailer.com is awesome. I'm not real happy with the road Yakima is going down but I've been using their racks for over 30 years. ETrailer's service and prices are great! 570533

In 2015 I purchased roof racks and a t hitch for my new Tahoe. The purpose was to allow me to load and haul a canoe. I love the products. Ordering and delivery could not have been easier. 240429

Easy to install with Ikea-like instructions. It held a heavy 15' fiberglass canoe to the top of my 2013 Subaru perfectly for more than 1000 miles. I checked the straps at every stop and only had to tighten them once, and not very much at that. Excellent system when using the factory roof rack. Etrailer.com was great at answering my questions and ensuring that I got what I needed. 185438

Very happy with the product. I had a hard time finding clips for my factory luggage rack that would hold my wood strip securely in place on the roof of my CRV. These clips are perfect and the price was outstanding since the kit included all of the straps as well. I've never used etrailer before but I've since bookmarked them for future use. 102088

Do you have a question about this Watersport Carrier?

  • How To Carry a Kayak and Canoe on a 2019 Ram 1500 While Towing
  • In order to carry a canoe and or kayak on your 2019 Ram 1500 I recommend placing them on a roof rack with a roof mounted carrier as you don't really have any other options when towing a trailer. For a roof rack, I recommend the Yakima CoreBar Crossbar System which is composed of part # Y00423, part # Y00146, and part # Y06135. This system has aero shaped cross bars for reduced wind noise and a sleek look. In order to secure a canoe and or kayak to the above roof rack, I recommend using...

  • Recommended Bike, Cargo, and Canoe Carriers for a 2017 Chevy Equinox with Factory Roof Rack
  • For your 2017 Chevy Equinox I recommend using the Thule UpRide # TH599000 for your bikes because of how easy it is to use and you don't have to remove your front wheel to transport your bike. To carry your canoe I highly recommend the Lockrack Adjustable Watersport Carrier # 339-LRUNISETX for a few reasons. The first is that it can accommodate pretty much any boat style out there and the second reason is that this carrier has integrated locks that help grip your canoe and eliminate the...

  • Recommended Roof Rack and Carrier for 16 Foot Canoe on 2010 Toyota Prius
  • In order to secure a canoe to your 2010 Toyota Prius, you will need to start with a roof rack system. For your Prius, I recommend the Inno Square Roof Rack System, which consists of # INB127 for the two 50 inch Square Crossbars, # INSUT for the Inno Feet, and # INK865 for the Custom Fit Kit. This is a durable, but economically priced system that will work well as attachment points for your canoe or other roof-mounted cargo. I have attached a short video demonstration on this system,...

  • Roof racks for your 2013 Kia Sportage that has a bare roof are displayed on the linked page and these include racks from Inno and others. For the Inno 54-inch square bar rack you referenced you will need to order parts # INB137, # INSUT and # INK701. On your vehicle this rack will install with a 28-inch bar spread; the rack weight capacity is 120-lbs. It is a good idea to check your Kia owner's manual to make sure your roof can handle the weight of the canoe. Of course, the canoe cannot...

  • Canoe Carriers for Use on Malone MicroSportXT Trailer
  • The Malone MicroSportXT trailer # MPG460XT does come with 78-inch square crossbars and these are the widest part of the entire trailer. Longer crossbars could pose a hazard so I do not recommend changing. Since the Old Town Saranac 146 has a base weight of 79-lbs and a width of 36-inches your existing bars should work fine to let you use two of the Malone MegaWing Carrier # MPG207. Each MegaWing carrier can handle boats up to 150-lbs. If you prefer a carrier that will allow you to...

You can see all racks on the linked page and these include Yakima products. However the track-based roof racks like the item you referenced # Y01127 require drilling and permanent installation so they are not the best choice for a leased vehicle. The lowest-cost option that you can easily remove when it is time to return the leased Pilot is the Yakima CoreBar system...

You just close them under the hood and trunk of your Edge and then connect them to the canoe. You mentioned a Yakima roof rack. If your Edge has a naked roof with no factory rails the parts needed for a Yakima rack are: 50 inch JetStream Cross Bars # Y00425 BaseLine Towers # Y00146 Fit Kit # Y06102 and # Y06139 Then you can add the Yakima KeelOver # Y04069 to carry the canoe...

From the center of the hitch ball coupler to the center of the front crossbar in its forward most position it measures 83 inches. The crossbars can be spread 48 inches. This would give you 1-1/2 inches of trailer behind the rear crossbar. That means 70 inches of your canoe will hang off the back of the trailer if you...

  • I recommend the Yakima EvenKeel Flexible Boat Saddles for Roof-Rack Crossbars # Y04052. These saddles will work well with kayaks up to 80 lbs in weight. This carrier is for kayaks only. If you are looking to carry a canoe, I recommend the Keelover # Y04069 which will carry a canoe turned upside down. These mounts don't work for both canoe and kayak, but are boat specific. • Carrying a Canoe While Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2015 Ford F-350 Crew Cab
  • Other than the front mount hitch for your 2015 Ford F-350 such as # 65049 you will also need at least a single roof rack bar and a carrier of some kind to hold the canoe. This would be in addition to a support used in the front mount hitch. For a single roof rack bar you could save some money and use the Darby Turbo rack # DTA968. It uses a strap that runs through the interior of the vehicle to secure to the roof. Otherwise I recommend a regular roof rack with 2 crossbars for more support...

What I recommend is instead of using the TracOne is to use the Yakima Outdoorsman, # Y01136-Y00409. This ladder rack uses Yakima round crossbars that are 1-7/8 inches in diameter making them compatible with many...

  • Thule Portage or Yakima Keel Over Kayak Rack Recommendation
  • Between the Thule Portage # TH819 and the Yakima KeelOver part # Y04069 I would go with the Portage. It is going to be easier to use and secure since it has the ratcheting tie-downs that you referenced as the pulleys. That will make securing the bow/stern tie downs much easier. Aside from that the two carriers are pretty similar, but the edge goes to the Thule because of the ratchets.

  • Can I Use Crossbars Wider Than My Vehicles Roof
  • As long as the crossbars you use aren't wider than the widest part of the vehicle (usually the mirrors), which could be a safety problem or even illegal in some areas, you could certainly use longer crossbars than the 58 inch crossbars. Since your Toyota Camry's roof is 71 inches wide at its widest point using 66 inch crossbars like # Y00410 would be just fine. You could also use the 78 inch bar like # Y00411 and cut it down to 71 inches. Whether this will be long enough will depend...

The Thule Portage canoe carrier, # TH819, would also fit since it will fit round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. The 1-5/8 inch round bars would not be a problem for this carrier. Another option is to use universal foam blocks # SR5525. These are basically just foam blocks for cutout for the the bars and for the canoe sides.
