Recommended Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin For A Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # 325-GH-214

Updated 09/05/2024 | Published 08/30/2024

Question:

Hi, I bought this hitch below https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch-Ball-Mount/Gen~Y-Hitch/325-GH-214.html and am currently using it with the extended ball mount below so I can clear my bike hitch rack and still tow my jet skis or a boat. https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch-Ball-Mount/Brophy/BH20.html I’m looking for the best hitch pin anti-rattle. What would you recommend? Thanks, Kyle

Hey Kyle,

For the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-214 I recommend the Gen-Y Iron Grip Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin for 2" Hitch Receivers - 5/8" Diameter # GY39FR. This can be used for securing the # 325-GH-214 to the trailer hitch receiver and for preventing rattling of the Brophy Ball Mount # BH20 in the # receiver tubes of the # 325-GH-214.

GEN-Y told me those couldn’t be used on the receiver slots/tubes because they aren’t solid?

@KyleB The Gen-Y Iron Grip Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin # GY39FR has to be used with solid shank ball mounts because it could potentially damage a non-solid shank cranking it down to prevent rattling. The # BH20 has a solid shank so you wouldn't have an issue.

@KevinC sorry it’s actually a BM20 ball mount which is not solid but I didn’t think either of them are. Please advise.

@KyleB The # BM20 is not solid so you would not want to use the # GY39FR with it. If you have a hollow shank you can just switch to a different style anti-rattle hitch pin, like the # SHP2061. This pin is also 5/8" in diameter and has a threaded block that will sit inside the shank. The pin will go through the block and tighten down, pulling the block and ball mount shank up against the inside of the trailer hitch receiver tube to prevent rattling.
