Features to know about

Reliable Plate Illumination: Durable Steel Bracket with Clear Lens

Keeping your plate visible at night is simple with this compact 8-7/8" x 2-7/8" x 2-1/4" incandescent light. It uses a clear polycarbonate lens and ABS housing to cast a clean, even light across your license plate. The powder-coated steel mounting bracket provides a strong, stable base that holds up to vibration and road wear, so the light stays steady and bright when you need it most.

Longer Bulb Life on Rough Roads: Vibar Socket Protection

Bumpy roads can shake ordinary bulbs loose, but this light’s Vibar socket design absorbs road shock and vibration to help the 168 bulb last longer. It’s a simple fix that keeps you from chasing flickering lights or replacing burned-out bulbs after every trip. When you do need to swap the bulb, it’s an easy replacement—no sealed housing to fight with.

Simple Wiring Setup: Single-Wire Ground Through Mounting Hardware

Wiring doesn’t get much easier than this. The light’s single wire connects to the running light circuit, while the ground is made through the metal mounting hardware. As long as there’s solid metal-to-metal contact, you’ll have a reliable connection without extra ground wires or complicated hookups. It draws just 0.35 amps at 12V, making it efficient and easy on your system.

Straightforward Mounting: Surface-Mount Design for Quick Installs

Installation is quick thanks to the surface-mount setup. The light attaches directly to your trailer using the steel bracket’s mounting holes—spaced 3-1/2" center-to-center—and requires only basic fasteners (not included). The compact size and integrated bracket make it a handy replacement or upgrade wherever you need dependable plate lighting.

This license plate light was what I anticipated. When I installed it, it wouldn't light up. I had to screw around with it to get it to light up. I have not used the trailer. I hope it works in use.

by:

@CarolynC Happy to hear that!

Great price, simple easy installation, perfect for a custom made or utility trailer that does not have one. Just have to add a ground wire to ensure proper grounding if mounting to frame like those on folding trailers which don't always have good ground contact.

by:

Could not find license plate holder locally. Google search led me to etrailer and with Sherry’s assistance was able to obtain the part I needed. Thank you for your help.

by:

I bought this trailer plate light to replace the one that rusted and fell apart. I was very pleased with this product. It was easy to install and now my trailer looks brand new again. Thanks for making this item available so I could repair my trailer.

by:

Full after a year of having that trailer like the bulb burned out and the plastic on the bracket broke it's not really worth the money that you're asking for it I'm sorry but the product doesn't hold up to what it should hold up so if you buy one can buy it for 6 months and I live in Stuart Florida and the weather down here I guess is more extreme than any place else in the country so it is a product that it's good for 6 months only after 6 months can throw it in the garbage can

by:

Trailer light and license plate bracket, had a how to video made it easy for me to install on my trailer.
One year later it still works and looks like new.

by:

Purchased this lighted license plate holder to replace the original on my 1994 car hauler which had become corroded and stopped working. New one fit perfect and restored the light function, so my trailer is legal once again!

by:

Nice looking as license plates go. Works very well, just as advertised and yes I
would buy again.
Best prices , fast shipping , and they also have a customer service department
that is a customer service that works with people.......
THANK YOU etrailer

by:

A quality product at a good price with fast shipping.

Solved the problem of my low hanging license plate which was originally installed on the factory mounting location. This product allowed me to move it higher off the ground and prevent the plate from being bent or ripped off.

Also the illumination of the plate was brighter than the factory bulbs.

by:

This company has a great selection of parts and the shipping is always extremely fast. I have ordered from them in the past and will continue in the future. The how to video's are also very helpful.

The parts fit perfectly and are working fine.

by:

This bracket solved my problem of the lower factory mounted one so i mounted this one on the gate of my 5x8 carry on utility trailer used some washers and bolts to sandwich them together and ran a wire from my running light on the tail light on the trailer and it stays on when my lights are on so all in all this saved my day ill never lose another license plate again

by:

Needed a new bracket for my trailer as the old one was under the frame and got knocked off and lost due to hitting high ground. Placed it on the back ramp so it would not get damaged close to the ground. Welded a cross piece and then bolted your bracket to it. Perfect for what I needed. Would recommend to anyone who needs a similar item.

by:

I ordered a number of items for a trailer that I am bringing back to life after leaving is stand at the beach for nearly 12 years. I got great advice on what parts I needed to match the original Haulmark lights and license plate bracket/light and also ordered a new breakaway system and safety chains. Everything was priced reasonably, shipped in a timely fashion and was a cinch to install as it all fit right to the original footprints.
I also found answers to my questions on some electrical issues by browsing the Q&A sections here.
Happy customer.

by:

Perfect fit. Easy to install. Great price and fast shipping.

Still working great after a year

by:

I ordered the same one that came with the trailer so it fit like a glove.

by:

Exact replacement for the old light and very quick shipping and delivery.

by:

A direct replacement of the original.

by:

great product

by:

In Michigan any steel will rust given time. Rather than relying on the bracket's mounting screws for ground I ran a wire through the rubber grommet in the rear and terminated it with a ring terminal. Easy and probably worth while.

by:

Searching for a license plate light, I found etrailer and liked that they had lots to choose from. The pictures and the video were great, I decided to buy the light with the license plate bracket. It was well made, easy to attach and included the bolts to attach the plate. The light was exactly what I wanted and fit perfect for my application. I would recommend this company to any one looking for these kind of products.

by:

The positive lead wire is 18 gauge. I wish I'd known that earlier. Also, it comes with hardware to mount a license plate. I wish I'd also known that earlier.

  • Recommended License Plate Mount For Fender of Car Hauler Trailer
Yes. I recommend using the License Plate Mounting Plate - Black # CR79150 or the CE Smith Trailer License Plate Bracket - Tail Light Mount - Aluminum Tread Plate # CE26053A to add a little more style. If you need a light with your mounting bracket, I recommend the LED Trailer License-Plate Light w/ Mounting Bracket, 2 Wire, 5 Diode - Clear # LPL55CB or the Peterson License Plate Light with Bracket # PM436B.

Hi Dave, I have an option for for you, however, I wasn't able to cross reference the number you gave me so you'll just need to take a couple quick measurements to confirm the following option will work as a direct replacement. If the distance on mounting hole centers is 1-3/4 inches and the mounting hole used for the old lights is around 1-1/8 inches, then you can use the LED Trailer License Plate Light # LPL12CB along with the Ear Mount Bracket # A11GLPB. • License Plate Holder and Light for Use on Ramped Utility Trailer
You can add a license plate holder and light to your ramped utility trailer either with a single item such as # LPL55CB or # PM436B, or you can choose separate plate holders and lights to let you choose the designs you most prefer, such as plate holder part # CR30830 and light part # LPL12CKM2B. It may be easiest to use one product; my choice would be # LPL55CB since its LED light uses much less power than a typical bulb light (only about one-tenth as much power). You will make a 2-wire...

Yes, if your trailer has a license plate directly below the left side tail light, you will need to order the Submersible LED Trailer Tail Light, # STL57RB, for the left side. This light has lighting to illuminate the license plate. For the right side you will need the light you referenced, # STL56RB. What I recommend is to use the bike rack you want to use (trailers and RVs can only be equipped with certain racks, see link) and relocate the license plate to an area of the vehicle, trailer, or RV that is more visible.
