Today we're gonna take a look at the Peterson great white surface mount LED trailer license plate light with the bracket. Now this is a nice compact LED light that illuminates your trailer's license plate. Uses a single LED light, which will meet the DOT requirements when this is properly mounted above your license plate. The LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights 'cause they'll last about 50 times longer, and are more efficient 'cause they'll provide brighter light with less power output. And of course, no bulbs to replace or brittle filaments. Uses a clear lens over a nice white LED.
Is all in a nice black housing. It is a surface mount design to the trailer with this built-in bracket. Now the hardware to install it is not included. You'd see it is a two-wire design, includes the power lead and the ground wire. This light is DOT, Department of Transportation compliant.
It is made in the USA. Voltage on this is 12 volts.A few dimensions, and then I'm gonna hook this up to some power just to show you how bright the light is. So overall length, edge-to-edge is right at 8 5/8 inches long. Overall height, bottom to the top is right at 3 1/4 inches tall. And the total depth at the widest point is gonna be right at 2 inches deep.
Mounting hole dimensions, here's your two mounting holes right down here. Center-to-center is 3 1/2 inches. And then the mounting holes for your license plate are gonna be standard. They are elongated holes, but center-to-center, 6 1/2 inches.Gonna hook this to some 12 volt power. And then we'll turn the power on just to show you how bright they are.
And there you go, the LED lights up. We'll go ahead and turn off the overhead light. And there you can see how bright it is when this is be over your license plate, it'll light it all up. Go ahead and turn back on our overhead. Turn off our power. But that should do if for the review on the Peterson great white surface mount LED trailer license plate light with bracket.

8-5/8" x 3-1/4" x 1-15/16". Compact LED trailer light illuminates your license plate. Great White series features custom-cut lens optics and ultra-bright white diode. Surface mount to trailer with included bracket. 2-Wire design. The only reason this plastic bracket is strong enough is because I 1/4-20 stainless bolted the license plate through the door sheetmetal at all 4 holes, with a nice solid stainless steel license plate frame over the plate. See the picture.
So the bracket is screwed to the door panel with the 2 screws, then pinned through the captive upper license plate bolts as well. I would not use this bracket hanging in free air or without more bolts through the body where the license plate attaches; it's not strong enough.
This thing could use a few more lumens as well.
But it won't be rusting...
Great service
Perfect replacement for my rusted out oem plate holder.
Great product. So bright it could almost serve as a backup light. Not recommended for those trying to evade the law...
Absolutely a piece of junk for that pri ce
Love it!
