When you need a clear, steady light on your plate to stay compliant, this Optronics incandescent license plate light gets the job done. It uses a replaceable 194 wedge base bulb under a clear lens to shine an even beam across your plate. At 12.8V it draws just 0.2 amps, giving you reliable brightness without overloading your wiring. It’s made for 12V DC systems and keeps your tag lit up so it’s easy to see day or night.
No need to mess with complicated wiring. This light uses a single black wire for power and grounds through its stainless steel mounting hardware. Installing this light doesn’t require any guesswork. It measures 4" long x 1-3/4" wide x 2-5/16" thick with mounting holes spaced 3-1/4" apart on center. The stud-mount setup makes it easy to bolt directly onto your trailer—no special tools or adapters needed. Once mounted, it sits snugly and stays put through vibration and use.
Instead of tossing the whole light when a bulb burns out, you can just replace the single 194 bulb inside. That small touch makes upkeep simple and affordable while keeping your lighting consistent over time. The design balances convenience with performance, giving you a straightforward solution that works for years of regular towing or hauling.

Today on our enclosed trailer, we're going to be installing the Optronics Ear Mount Trailer License Plate Light with the plastic housing and gray in color, Part Number LP51CB. Depending on your trailer will depend on how much of the interior you may need to take apart to gain access to the wiring to install the new trailer license plate light. We've also gone ahead and removed any of the old license plate light that was still on the trailer. Now that we have our surface ready to install our new license plate light, we'll go ahead and feed the wire through the hole so that the wire goes into the trailer itself. We'll go ahead and hold our light up into place and then mark the two holes. We'll then set the light aside for now. Next we're going to take two self tapping screws and pre-drill the holes into the trailer.
We'll then back each of the screws out and then put the light up into place, feeding the wire through a center hole allowing it to go into the internal part of the trailer. Then we'll go ahead and take our ratchet and put our screws back in, holding the light in place. Now in our case we needed to remove a couple pieces of internal trim to gain access to the wiring to install the new light. Now that the trim is out of the way, you could see here that we have our wire hanging down. It's part of the running light circuit. Now that that's done, we can go ahead and connect our wiring.
We use a simple butt connector here to connect our running light wire in with the wire coming out of the back of the license plate light. The butt connector that we'll be using today is Part Number DW05714. Once our connection's made, we'll go ahead and wrap it with some electrical tape to give it a little more protection. Now we'll go ahead and test the light before we put our interior back together. As you can see here, with our running light circuit on on the trailer, our license plate light comes on. Now that we've tested it, you can go ahead and put your interior back together.
Again depending on your exact model of trailer will determine what you have to reinstall. In our case, it's a couple pieces of trim. Once our trim is back in place, we can go ahead and close the door up and that'll complete the installation of the Optronics Ear Mount Trailer License Plate Light, Part Number LP51CB. .

I purchased this to replace the license plate light cover that some kids broke playing around behind my trailer. I had problems removong the old baseplate/light fitting so I just used the lens and back cover and it fit perfectly. This was on my 2007 12x6 Haulmark cargo trailer and fit perfectly!

Worked ok. It's not an exact fit like the other lights I bought from etrailer. My old light fixture had a metal frame that went around the whole license plate area; this one didn't fit exactly. Nothing wrong with this light, just a slightly different design. I made it work rather than returning it.
Got the parts I ordered in Excellent condition. Installed the Roof Vent with ease. I did have one little challenge. I disposed of the box the Roof Vent came in. It is now time to mount the license plate light. I could not find find the light anywhere. Well, I was getting ready to call E-trailers about the missing light, when I decided to get the box out of the trash. Well, it was wrapped up in the paper. Next time I will look a little closer.
