Video Transcript for Optronics LED Trailer License-Plate Light with Mounting Bracket Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Optronics LED trailer license plate light with mounting bracket. This is a two-wire setup offering five LED diodes in a clear lens. Part number is LPL55CB.As you can see, those five LEDs do a really good job of lighting up the entire license plate area. It's a nice pure white light. Not used to seeing that with incandescents which you give you more of a yellow hue on it. So overall, it's definitely a better light than what you get with the incandescents.

The thing you'll appreciate about the LEDs is there's not really ever a need to change those. Very seldom will you ever have an LED go bad. It's a nice clear DOT compliant light, so whatever state you travel to you're not going to have to worry about whether it's in regulation or not. It's going to attach directly to the mounting holes you already have on your trailer. These are gonna be 3-3/8 of an inch on center which is very common with this style license plate light. Now the light housing itself and the bracket are all a polymer material.

The thing I like about this when comparing it to other license plate lights is that without having the steel, you're not going to have to worry about corrosion. You don't have to worry about rain getting on it and eventually having the rust running down your trailer. The light also receives really good reviews. It's like Ken S. said, "These plastic mounts take a beating especially in the winter.

These replacements work great and are an exact fit. This allows my techs to do quick and easy install on our fleets of buses. I'm sure I will be purchasing more in the future. Thanks."Now depending on your setup, you're going to have either one or two wires here. A single wire is going to be your power coming through.

That gets connected to the black wire, and of course we don't have our second wire. You can see we've already got a ring terminal that's been installed. That's just going to mount behind our attachment point there. That will press it up against the surface, and that will give us the ground that we're looking for. If you have two wires, just trim that off, strip it back and connect it just like we're going to connect our black wires. We're going to be using a heat shrink butt connector. We recommend that you do the same. It just gives you superior corrosion resistance versus a standard. And we're going to use a heat source to shrink these down. You can use a heat gun, a mini torch, or a lighter. Just need to provide gentle heat and not overheat it. You overheat it and you can cause some cracks in it and it won't do any good corrosion resistance-wise. Something we can do at this point is get our plate installed. You can do it after the light's installed. Just going to be tight up against the trailer so you will have to bend it or flex it to get it over there. Then we'll just place our hardware through our holes there.Once we have it installed, we can test it out. And that will complete our look at the Optronics LED trailer license plate light with mounting bracket. Part number is LPL55CB.

This kit works, but not in the configuration delivered. If you purchase this, be prepared to find an alternate method to mount the lights. You will likely need to modify the cargo carrier to make this work. The lights are sealed units that are normally flush mounted on larger trailers. Mounts have been added with self-tapping screws that easily strip out of the housing and the mounts fall off the lights. The screws in the kit were smaller in diameter than the holes in the mounts, both front and back, making them useless. I tried attaching the lights using zip ties and just the mount on the light portion, but that failed when the mount screws stripped out of the lights. I did not have the issue with the wiring being too short like other reviewers. My wiring was actually a little too long. To actually install this kit reliably, here what you need: - Silicone - Super Glue - Screwdriver (Flat or Phillips Depending on Screw Choice) - Wire Cutters (To Cut the Ends off of Anchors) - 9/32" Drill Bit - 4x #6x1.5" Machine Screw - 4x #6x0.75" Anchors How I installed mine: 1. Remove the plastic bracket supplied with the light. Fill the holes with silicone so that the lights are sealed again. Check in a couple minutes to ensure that the silicone didn't drip through. Add more as needed until the hole is filled. 2. Trim the ends off of your anchors so that they fit in the two plastic circles on the back of the lights. Just a little bit will do. Test fit them to make sure they go all the way in. Once you're sure they fit, super glue just the bevel at the top to the light. This is to prevent them from turning in the hole because the plastic on the light is really smooth. 3. Drill two 9/32" holes in the rear upright bars of the carrier. Make the holes 1/4" from the edge so you can still connect the wiring. Space the holes at 2 5/16". The holes need to go through the front and back of the uprights. 4. Put the screws through the back holes pointing outwards. Once the super glue has dried, screw the screws into the anchors. 5. Connect the wiring per the supplied instructions. 419086

Product worked perfectly for what we were using it for. I purchased a motorcycle and needed to move the license plate bracket to be able to add bags. I found your bracket online, knowing we were going to have to jerry rig it to where we wanted to mount it. I was a little suprised the bracket was plastic when I received it, but still worked great. A friend made 2 mounting brackets from a flat bar, cutting and bending them to the length and angle we needed. Drilled holes and mounted them under the rear fender. Mounted the license plate bracket on the other ends of the custom brackets and wired it in for lights. 649517

  • License Plate Holder and Light for Use on Ramped Utility Trailer
You can add a license plate holder and light to your ramped utility trailer either with a single item such as # LPL55CB or # PM436B, or you can choose separate plate holders and lights to let you choose the designs you most prefer, such as plate holder part # CR30830 and light part # LPL12CKM2B. It may be easiest to use one product; my choice would be # LPL55CB since its LED light uses much less power than a typical bulb light (only about one-tenth as much power). You will make a...

The standard roof vent measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" so if you measure yours it is likely to be that and you can use the Fan-Tastic Vent Ultra Breeze Trailer Roof Vent Cover # FVU1500WH (White) or # FVU1500BL (Black). • Comparing Brightness of Trailer LED Taillights RVSTLB61, 47-84-610, and DG52720PB
Of the three lights you mentioned the brightest option is the LED Trailer Tail Light w/ Reflector # DG52720PB as it has the most diodes of all of the lights you mentioned so it will be very bright and easily visible. All three of them are very bright though and would not have issues with visibility. The thing about LEDs is that they are substantially brighter than incandescent lights so whichever model you chose would still be very visible.
