Dexter Brake Actuator - T4750600

Highlights

  • Strong Braking for Heavy Loads: Delivers up to 1,500 psi hydraulic pressure for disc brakes.
  • Built to Last: Zinc-plated steel resists corrosion for long-term use in wet conditions.
  • Smooth Stops: Roller design minimizes resistance for straight-line telescoping and steady braking.
  • Easy Upgrade: Bolts onto a 3" wide trailer tongue with standard 5-hole pattern (hardware sold separately).
  • Level Towing: 3" built-in drop keeps trailer level when hitched to taller tow vehicles.
  • Safety Backup: Breakaway kit engages trailer brakes if disconnected during towing.

Features to know about

Straight-Line Braking: Unique Roller Design Reduces Resistance

The actuator’s roller system keeps movement smooth and straight when it telescopes under braking. That means less binding, cleaner force transfer, and better control on the road. It also helps the actuator apply pressure evenly to the master cylinder for more consistent braking with disc brake systems that need around 1,500 psi.

Built to Last: Zinc-Plated Steel Construction

This surge-type actuator uses sturdy steel throughout to handle tough loads up to 12,500 lbs with a maximum tongue weight of 1,250 lbs. The zinc plating fights rust and corrosion, which is a big help if your trailer spends time near water or sees a lot of road spray. The finish keeps the housing looking clean and stops pitting that can affect performance over time.

Easy Fit: Bolt-On Mount for 3" Channel Tongues

It’s designed to bolt over a standard 3" wide channel tongue using common hardware (sold separately). The mounting flange measures 8-1/4" long, giving plenty of room for secure placement. The standard 2-5/16" heavy-duty coupler includes a built-in 3" drop so your trailer sits level without extra adapters or coupler swaps.

Safety Built In: Included Breakaway Kit

A breakaway system comes pre-installed so your trailer brakes will engage automatically if it ever disconnects from the tow vehicle. It’s already integrated into the actuator body—no separate bracket or wiring box needed. That means one less step during installation and peace of mind when you’re hauling heavier loads or working on uneven ground.

I ordered this part from etrailer.com because I have ordered items from here before and I have always got what I expected. This surge break hitch arrived with other parts and functioned as expected. I would recommend etrailer as the first stop when they are looking for trailer parts. Good price, good selection, and good service.

  • Looking For A Replacement Actuator For My Titan 10 Surg-O-Matic
Hey Andy, The closest direct replacement we have for your Titan is the Dexter # T4750600. This has the same drop head as your titan and uses the same bolt pattern to install. I looked up your Titan 10 and the Dexter is rated for a higher weight capacity, but that won't change fitment on it, it will just give you the safety of towing more if you ever needed too. What kind of trailer do you have this on?

  • Best Replacement for Titan Surge-O-Matic 10K Disc Brake Actuator
The best replacement option we have for a Titan Surge-O-Matic is the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T4750600 which is rated for disc brakes and can support up to 12,500 lbs. It also has the same drop coupler design as the one you have now so it should be a direct swap.

  • Can You Back Up With Titan Hydraulic Actuator Without Reverse Lockout
That's a good question and in order to reverse with the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop - Disc - 2-5/16" Ball - Bolt On - 12,500 lbs # T4750600 you will need to add a reverse lockout, which is the Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators # T4748800. The other option is to use the same actuator that does come with an electric lockout, the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop, Electric Lockout - Disc - 2-5/16" Ball - 12,500 lbs # T4750620. I have added links to video reviews...

  • Bleeding the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T4750600
To bleed the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop part # T4750600 using the lockout arm isn't the way to go. What I prefer to do is use a larger 5 foot piece of 2x4 you will place this up against the ball coupler and loop the safety chains around the board at he very bottom. At that point you will just push on the top of the board and it will compress the actuator. When bleeding the system you want to start at the brake assembly with the longest brake line and work to the shortest.

  • Surge Brakes or Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes Recommendation for a Trailer
Electric over hydraulic brake systems are basically the nicest setup around. You get the power of hydraulic brakes and the adjustability of electric. The only real cons are it will cost you more money to go this route as you will need an actuator as well as a new brake controller since most likely the one you have isn't compatible with EOH brake actuators. Surge brakes are nice though as well. Simpler setup so fewer things to go wrong, but not quite as versatile and can be a hassle when...

  • Are Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kits Compatible With Titan/Dexter Model 10 Surge Brake Actuators?
Yes, the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 15SI-BLKIT is compatible with the Titan/Dexter model 10 Surge Brake Actuators for Drum # T2478100 or Disc # T4750600 brake systems.

  • Is a Titan Model 10 Actuator Worth Repairing or Should It Be Replaced
It would be really difficult for me to determine the cause of the issue without being able to tear down the unit. We do have some of the replacement parts for the Titan Model 10 Actuator but they are getting harder to find everyday so rather than dump more money into the unit a replacement would be the best option. The Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator part # T4750600 for disc or part # T2478100 for drum is what I recommend.

  • Comparison of Two Titan Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuators
The two Titan brake actuators, parts # T2478100 and # T4750600, are the same actuator except the former is for drum brakes and the latter is for disc brakes. Part # T4750600 operates at a higher pressue (around 1,500 psi) which is what is required for disc brakes where part # T2478100 only operates about 1,000 psi. You want to select the appropriate actuator because the higher pressue is too much for drum brakes and the lower not enough for disc.

  • Replacing Titan Surge Brake Actuator T4750600 With Dexter DX7.5 Actuator
With the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Drop # T4750600 having the 5-Hole Standard bolt pattern you will need to drill new holes for either the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR or Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator # 099-175-20. Be sure to not exceed the 7,500LB capacity of these actuators. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout # DX89FR will have a similar profile but the ball does not have the drop like your current actuator. The...
