eZ-Latch Coupler

This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the contoured handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.

Demco eZ-Latch in Use

Sturdy, Corrosion-Resistant Construction

Made of sturdy steel, this A-frame coupler features a durable silver powder coat finish that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This finish has a 500-hour salt spray rating, making the coupler perfect for marine use. The eZ-Latch's sleek, ergonomically designed handle is constructed of a durable composite material that's corrosion-proof, allowing it to withstand whatever the road and the elements dish out.

Well made part..fast shipping!

by:

very nice heavy duty

by:

Very pleased with the purchase. Was delivered in a timely manner and product was as described. Would gladly do business with Etrailer again.

by:

Like that you can put the latch down before coupling to hitch.

by:

Its is bending up where the tongue jack is mounted so I'm really not that happy with it week metal i guess

by:

The new coupler looks really strong and well made. Excited to get it on, as the couple extra inches in length will allow me to drop the trucks tailgate when hooked up to our travel trailer.

by:

Beefy! Excellently what I was looking for! Fit was spot-on; lined up perfectly with original coupler. EZ-Latch works as advertised. Outstanding service from etrailer

by:

Love it.... So much better than that finger pinching, hard to open & close bullnose hitch.

by:

I am very pleased with the online catalog of etrailer, the description of the trailer coupler was very accurate. It is well built and made of heavy steel. I have it installed it and it allows the trailer to follow my truck very true. I was a little apprehensive about the auto connect feature. After a couple of times of hooking the trailer to my truck, I don't think I would change. I purchased the bolt on style for future ease of changing out the coupler if it is ever needed. The only draw back is that all the holes and bolt threads are metric not ASE. I will definitely come back to etrailer in the future.

by:

I love this trailer tongue. No more guessing if the cup is sitting tightly over the ball, just lower the trailer and it automatically slides into place. Great idea.

by:

You guys were great in processing my order and shipping it out to me in a timely manner.BUT..do to my fault I chose the wrong one..its to heavy for my jeep. I need to order the coupler but with 2 inch ball hitch.I'm going to call tomorrow to order another one

by:

This is without a doubt the very best engineered and fabricated hitches I have seen in my 70 years. I have been around trucking (semi's ) my entire life and would expect this kind of quality from a professional standpoint. However, this high quality and heavy steel construction usually isn't offered to the private sector. HOME RUN!!!

Wow, 70 years! That is awesome! With all your experience, that compliment really means a lot. Did you do cross country our mostly stay in state?

by:

It’s been a year and I’m having to replace the hitch on my trailer once again. The factory one broke around the ball. This one is cracking beside one of the factory welds. I do put a lot of miles on and the trailer is around 18k loaded. So all in all it’s done it’s job.

by:

I purchased this coupler to replace the coupler on my 1997 Featherlite trailer. The coating and the five hole pattern (to match the existing coupler) were my determining factors. I also REALLY wanted to get a coupler with the EZ-Latch setup as I had heard nothing but good things about that type of ball latch system.

This coupler worked perfectly for me! I had it bolted on in a matter of minutes and the EZ-Latch system is the only way to go!!

by:

I am happy with how fast it was delivered. But the packing worried me. The small plastic lights were just tossed into the box along with the very heavy trailer hitch. The edge of the box was torn. The heavy metal hitch could have very easily crushed the plastic items. Maybe those could have been placed inside a rolled up paper bag.

But lucking out there was no breakage.

I will review after I install. But I like it. The led light wires are big enough to splice onto other wires.

Consider me happy

by:

Excellent coupler! Easy to latch and u nlatch.

@Jeff The eZ-Latch is a great add-on for sure! Happy to hear you're getting good use out of it!

by:

1,000,000 times better than any other coupler I've ever used!

by:

Works well. Exact replacement for one that got damaged

by:

I had to grind the coupler off of our 1970 Airstream to install this unit. Took 1/2 day to grind off the coupler and smooth off the welds. I ended up using three 3/8" drill bits to drill the 10 holes required for the Demco coupler. It also required that I elongate the jack stand holes as the top and bottom shelf holes where not exactly lined up perpendicular so the jack sat at a slight angle. I only had to elongate both holes about 1/8". I used a sabre saw with a very good blade and cut a very neat edge. It was a 2 day job doing it in my driveway at my pace and wasn't really difficult. It did require perseverance but the end result is worth it. Nice coupler and it feels secure.

This Demco coupler has been great. It locks in very secure and feels like a very robust unit. Glad I took the time to install it. It has been better than the factory Airstream coupler.

by:

These new couplers are the best. They function great and are built sturdy. I switched mine so all my hitch balls matched at the same size.

by:

This thing is a beast. It did lengthen my trailer by a few inches, so I had to readjust my load leveling hitch, chains and wiring harness, but it was totally worth it. No more fighting with the factory installed latch. The next trailer I buy will have one of these installed before towing it off the lot.

@Mat Great! Glad to hear you are still happy with your Demco coupler. Those eZ-latch couplers are great! Come back anytime you need anything.

by:

This is the one to get. Very heavy duty. American made in Iowa.

by:

Very sturdy coupler that fit the trailer exactly. The easy hitch mechanism works nicely and the location for the chains is great! Just what I was looking for.

  • Is There a Trailer Coupler Repair Kit for Trailer with 2-5/16" Coupler
I know this is not what you want to hear but the vast majority of trailer couplers cannot be repaired, they will instead need to be replaced. There are very few trailer coupler repair kits available and they are by no means universal. Therefore, unless you have the exact coupler said repair kit is designed for (highly unlikely), it's not going to work and the coupler needs to be replaced. For this, we do have a great option for you though that won't require any welding making it capable...

  • Coupler Upgrade for Fulton 44311H A-Frame Coupler
Hi Mike; to upgrade your Fulton coupler I recommend the Demco # DM13205-95 (Zinc) or # DM16680-52 (Silver). The eZ-Latch mechanism is a really nice feature that allows you to hook up when the latch is closed. It will already be set for a 2-5/16" ball but you can adjust it if you think that is necessary. The only thing I don't know is if the bolt pattern matches up since we don't have that information for that Fulton coupler. I attached a picture below showing measurements on the Demco...

Hey Sam, thanks for reaching out. We do have 2-5/16" A-frame couplers, but I am not seeing we have one with a yoke-style latch. If you want something similar, the A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5280-RB fits a 2-5/16" ball and has a squeeze-style latch. Or if you want the best we offer, that will be the Demco # DM16680-52 which has their patented EZ-latch. It has a composite latch handle and makes for a super secure connection. This has been my go-to coupler for a few years now. Just curious,...

Hey Ron, I did some checking, and I wasn't able to find any specifics on the coupler that came on your 2018 Lance 1475 TT. According to the photos I saw though, it definitely looks like a unique-enough coupler that you'll either need to reach out directly to Lance about a replacement (I've tried reaching out but only got crickets back from them) or use an aftermarket replacement. Here are a few options that might work, but you'll need to confirm on your end since Lance doesn't have any...

I recommend the Buyers Products 3/8" x 35" Class 4 Trailer Safety Chain # 337BSC3835. You will need 2 of these as they are sold individually. • Is There a Repair Kit for a 2-5/16" Trailer Coupler
I don't think anyone really wants to replace their coupler when the latching mechanism is bad or worn but, it's unfortunately a must since they don't make universal trailer coupler repair kits. There are trailer coupler repair kits available but, they are for very specific couplers which is not likely one you have. • How to Measure Trailer Frame Angle for Coupler
You'd just have to physically go out to your trailer and measure the angle. So to do this, you'd need to get a protractor or something similar and place it on the edge of the inside on one side of the trailer frame, and check to see if the other inside edge of the frame is parallel with the 50 degree line on the protractor. 50 degrees is the standard angle for trailer frames, so that's why we recommend you start there. • Can Weld-On A-Frame Trailer Coupler be Replaced with a Bolt-On Coupler
Yes, you can replace your weld-on coupler with a bolt-on. You'll just need to drill the holes. Then, if you wanted to go back to a weld-on later that would be fine too. Just to confirm you can check with the trailer's manufacturer that drilling the holes won't lower the trailer's capacity. Our most popular A-frame couplers are the Demco eZ-Latch. The eZ-Latch makes it easier to hookup and disconnect from your trailer. For a coupler that fits a 2 inch ball use # DM14793-52 and for...
