Question:
Ive noticed that some of the DEMCO a-frame coupler have a castinch ball socket and others have what appears to be a stamped steel ball socket. Can you tell me the pros/cons of each type. Which is stronger and takes the most abuse? Is the cast mean cast iron or cast steel?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Both styles of Demco couplers are going to hold up well but in general cast steel is considered to be better due to it's uniform and more consistent structure it provides. Stamped steel is typically considered a more cost effective solution due to lower production costs and quicker lead times. With that said the # 12660-97SP is cast and has a 21k capacity.
