Question:

Looking to upgrade my Fulton 44311h coupler with a better, adjustable. Maybe bulldog? It’s on an aluminum trailer. I’d like to keep the same footprint and bolt hole pattern if possible. Thank u

Hi Mike; to upgrade your Fulton coupler I recommend the Demco # DM13205-95 (Zinc) or # DM16680-52 (Silver). The eZ-Latch mechanism is a really nice feature that allows you to hook up when the latch is closed. It will already be set for a 2-5/16" ball but you can adjust it if you think that is necessary.

The only thing I don't know is if the bolt pattern matches up since we don't have that information for that Fulton coupler. I attached a picture below showing measurements on the Demco so you can compare it to your existing coupler.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Thank you. The bolt pattern is different, but if you are saying the footprint is the same, I can make it work. ( it doesn’t go further back on the trailer frame) Can you supply me with the correct hardware for a 2” wide box frame?

@MikeS I don't expect it to sit any further back. The hardware required for installation is 3/8" diameter Grade 5 bolts which you can pick up locally.

Also, the trailer is aluminum. Is it ok that there are no bolts going thru from top to bottom of trailer frame with the new coupler?

@MikeS you will run the bolts through the side holes, nothing needs to run through the top except the hardware to mount your jack.
