I know this is not what you want to hear but the vast majority of trailer couplers cannot be repaired, they will instead need to be replaced. There are very few trailer coupler repair kits available and they are by no means universal. Therefore, unless you have the exact coupler said repair kit is designed for (highly unlikely), it's not going to work and the coupler needs to be replaced. For this, we do have a great option for you though that won't require any welding making it capable for anyone to install at home in their driveway. I recommend the Demco Trailer Coupler part # DM16680-52 if you have an a-frame or part # DM13203-52 if you have a straight tongue. These both have easy latching mechanisms which are much better than the trigger style you may be accustomed to.

@Tim Maybe! It totally depends on what kind of trailer and the size of your tongue. If your trailer uses an industry-standard 50-degree a-frame design then the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM16680-52 will fit as a bolt-on replacement. What kind of trailer do you have?

@TimK No, but you can email it to me at [email protected]. Unless there's some kind of measurement with a protractor though I am not going to be able to tell the angle of your coupler from a picture. What make and model trailer do you have?
