  • Auto Tightens as You Drive: Self-tensioning system centers and locks for a snug, precise fit.
  • Rim Protection Built In: Chains ride only on the tread, keeping wheel faces scratch-free.
  • Smooth Grip on Ice: Diamond pattern with square D-links and ice spikes bite in for strong traction.

Features to know about

No Clearance in the Wheel Well: Clamp-On Design Mounts to the Lug Nut

If your vehicle has little to no room behind the tire, these chains solve that problem completely. The Konig K-Summit mounts directly to one of your wheel’s lug nuts, so the entire chain stays on the tread—nothing wraps behind the tire. This design creates zero interference with suspension or brake parts and protects your wheels since no metal ever touches the rim. It’s a clean, clever setup that keeps you moving even when space is tight.

Dealing with Packed Snow and Ice: Diamond Pattern and Traction Plates Keep You in Control

In deep snow or on solid ice, grip is everything. The diamond-shaped pattern and square D-links with ice spikes give steady traction through every rotation, while built-in traction plates break apart icy surfaces so your tires can bite in. The result is constant forward pull and a smoother ride than standard ladder-style chains.

Hate Stopping to Re-Tighten Chains: Self-Tensioning System Does the Work for You

Once installed, you can just drive. The built-in self-centering and self-tensioning system automatically aligns and tightens the chains as the wheels turn, so there’s no need to pull over mid-trip to readjust. Every link conforms snugly to the tire for reliable traction and a quiet, balanced feel.

Protecting Your Wheels and Hardware: Built Smart for Long-Term Use

Each set includes three lug nut adapters—17 mm, 19 mm, and 21-22 mm—so you get a precise fit on your wheel bolts. The chains fold down easily for compact storage, and the nylon carry bag keeps them organized and dry between uses. A quick-release lever lets you remove them in seconds when the road clears.

Ready for Modern Vehicles: Class S Compatible with No Internal Clearance Needed

These chains meet SAE Class S standards for vehicles with restricted wheel-well space. With no internal clearance required and a design that rides only on the tread, they’re ideal for modern vehicles that demand low-profile solutions. Tough materials, tight geometry, and a 5-year warranty make the K-Summit a dependable partner for winter roads.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

These chains are the perfect solution for SUVs with limited wheel-well clearance because they ride solely on your tire tread. Chains automatically tighten and align as you drive so you don't have to recheck tension.

by:

etrailer was awesome to deal with, processed my purchase and shipped it out very quickly. I like these chains, although they have some trouble self-tensioning on my tires. The chain on the inside gets caught in the tread of my tire, so you have to push it up and past that part to get it installed properly.

easy to use; excellent quality. Great product for my size tire.

by:

These chains are clearly a return item. Links removed, dirty, AND they are missing the most essential adapters which I confirmed twice with support and the manufacturer that they included the 17mm, 19, and 21/22mmm. It its the new universal U-Adapter that's fine, but one has 3 grips and the other chain has 5. Clearly a mismatch and neither fit my 17MM lugs. We need to process an RMA/Return and IF you can verify a brand new FULLY outfitted kit I will accept that replacement.

I sincerely apologize for the condition that the chains arrived in. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to work with you.

by:

I really appreciate the great service as I was on a deadline to receive the product. I received follow up emails, the whole order was expedited and was delivered before scheduled. I will definitely work with etrailer in the future.

by:

Great chains for application requiring minimal body clearance. etrailer was one of the very few to offer this brand and size. Service was exceptional.

by:

These fit well on a VW Atlas R line with 20'' wheels. Tried low profile cables previously and they were too close to the strut. The Konig Summit XXL was easy to install and the exterior mounting style did not have clearance issues.

by:

Customer service and shipping were spot on. Product is very sturdy, and a little quirky to adjust, but with a short test around the block worked extremely well. Instructions are for a slightly different, earlier model, but adequate. I would recommend if you must have chains for a high performance vehicle.

by:

Bought these for my Model X and so far I’ve only needed to use them a few times. These chains were pretty easy to put on. The hard part is making sure the lug nut grabber has thoroughly grabber the nut so the chains clamp down properly. Watch some YouTube. Videos

The instructions are pretty clear on how to adjust these for your tire size. Do that adjustment as soon as you can after purchase. As this is not fun to do on the side of the road.

by:

It works! Not so easy to learn how to use/installation (lack of online and general installation guide) but once figure out, it works. It's costly (10 times more expensive than normal snow chains) but I guess that's the price to pay for Porsche chain; yaiks! I wish they address those 2 issues in the future; price and installation instruction.

by:

I'm giving these four stars as I haven't tried them in snow. I bought them in Spring to save a few $$.

The instructions are a little weird as the English translation isn't great and the pics are unclear in a few places. The instruction videos on etrailer are very helpful.

You MUST set these up before you need to use them as they have to be sized to your specific tire dimensions and lug nut.

The tightening wrench has a torque setting. When you fit the lug nut connection you tighten until you hear a click. It ends up really tight and took a little work to remove.

After the lug connection is on, you tighten a ratchet before rolling the vehicle to complete installation. I didn't notice at first you only tighten until you see a line of red stitching. Because of that the chain didn't go on property. I reset and tried again and all was fine.

These go on very tight. At least if you follow instructions to the letter.

Hope they do what I need them to do in winter.

by:

I am very impressed with the quality, unique design and ease of installation. I have test fit these chains to our vehicle and the fit is great for our application where the chains cannot extend to the inside of the tire as there is no clearance. Having said this, to date we have not used the chains in the snow. We live in the Sierra Mountains of California in a location where we are required to carry chains. However, in our area it is rare that the road crews have not cleared the snow to the point where four-wheel-drive will suffice. I'm assuming I would rate these chains with five stars after actual road use.

by:

Excellent service. They helped me find a product that I could not find.

by:

So these are really expensive but there weren't a lot of options for my wide 22" tires. Are they worth it? Absolutely! These are my first chains so I wasn't sure what to expect, but once you make the initial size adjustments, it is super easy to get these on! I've seen other cars on the side of the road struggling to get their traditional chains on, where you have to lay down the chains, drive over, then wrap them around the tire and secure them.

With these, I just unfold them, push them onto the tires as far as they will go over the top and front and back, and slowly drive forward until they auto-adjust in place. A quick stop to double-check and make sure they are on all the way, and off I go.

Love them!

  • Tire Chains for 2026 BMW X5 With 275/45R20 Tires
Hey Paul! Fine-link and Class S actually go hand in hand. What that is basically saying in the owner's manual is you have limited clearance and you're going to need Class S compatible tire chains so you don't tear up your BMW. This is pretty common for an SUV like the X5. European manufacturers say "fine-link" to describe low profile, and Class S compatibility is the U.S. clearance standard for restricted space vehicles which equates to low profile tire chains. It doesn't currently show...

Hello Scott, thanks for reaching out. We do carry tire chains that fit the LT325/65R18 tires BUT if your owners manual says not to use chains, I really cannot recommend installing and using chains. It could cause damage to brake lines or other components in the wheel well or in some cases is can mess with ABS or EPS systems. You could end up causing non-warranty damage to your new truck and I would not want to set you up for that possibility. There is a chance a class S chain like the Konig...
