Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Best Tire Chains Recommendation for 2016 Toyota Highlander
For either of the standard tire sizes for your 2016 Toyota Highlander 245/60-18 or 245/55-19 I would go with the part # TC2324 which fits both sizes, is easy to install, and provides great traction at a great price. I attached an install video that shows them installed on a similar Highlander as yours as well. With tire chains you do not want to use them on dry pavement or go highway speeds either.

  • Which Tire Chain for Snow and Off Road Use from Titan TC2524 or TC2324
I don't know your tire size so I am not able to verify the fit of either chain but since you mentioned off road applications the thicker links of the # TC2524 would be the better option as the bigger link does provide more traction.

  • Diamond Pattern Tire Chains for a 2011 Toyota Venza with Tire Size 245/55R19
We do offer several tire chains and cables that fit the 245/55-19 tire size but none of the Thule chains will fit. For diamond pattern chains that fit this size we have # TC2324. These chains also come with built-in rubber tensioners so no additional adjusters are needed. They are color coded for easy installation. Before purchasing any tire chains you will want to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information or restrictions on the use of chains. I have included a link to...

Though we do not have something like the Konig Premium - K-Summit Chains # TH02230K33 available for your tire size, these will still offer good traction and quality and are both highly recommended. • Tire Chain Recommendation for 265/70-16 Size Tires on a 2020 Toyota Tacoma
Both the Ladder Pattern # TC2228SCAM and Diamond Pattern # TC2524 Titan Chain snow chains are good options for a 265/70-16 size tire, but when I looked up the owner's manual for your 2020 Toyota Tacoma it stated that you need to use low clearance chains so I recommend the Titan Chain # TC2324 instead. It has the diamond pattern and square links but they are a little smaller for better clearance. The diamond pattern is superior to the ladder style because it has constant contact with the...

  • Recommended Occasional-Use Snow Chains for 2003 F150 and 1993 Plymouth Voyager
Tire chains should be placed on the primary drive wheels. In the case of your F-150 that would be the rear tires, and on your mini van that would be the front tires. For 4X4 or AWD vehicles you can optionally use chains of the other tires for increased traction, braking, and steering if you feel it is neccessary. For your F-150 with 265/70-17 tires, I recommend the Titan Chain # TC2828CAM chains with cam tighteners for all four tires. If your owners manual recommends Class-S chains,...

  • Can Tire Chains Be Used on All 4 Wheels of 2019 Toyota Highlander
Your 2019 Highlander was equipped with either 245/55-19 or 245/60-18 tires. If you have the 245/60-18 tire size, the Titan # TC2517 would fit, but you'll want to use Class S chains like # TC2317 to provide the proper clearance between the inside of the tire and suspension/steering/braking components. If you have the 245/55-19 size, you'd use # TC2324 which is also class S compatible for maximum clearance. The owner's manual recommends using chains on the front wheels only.

For your 2013 Toyota Highlander with 245/55-19 tires the tire chain set that I recommend is the Titan Chains Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2324. The Titan chains use a diamond pattern design to help cover more area of the tread.
