CU9 Pedal and Quick-Release Buttons

Konig's Easy Fit snow chains are supremely simple to use. No more crawling around on the cold ground or getting wet and dirty on the side of the road. Just drape the chain around your tire and step on the pedal on the front, center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom. No need to reach around your tires to connect chain sections. No need to drive forward or back to center chains.

To remove the Easy Fit chains, simply press the red buttons at the middle and at the bottom of the center element to release the tension, and then unwrap the chain from around the tire.

Konig snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese nickel alloy steel for ultimate durability. The dual-sided, 10-mm-diameter, D-shape links provide superior traction for excellent grip on snow and ice. The center tensioning element on each Easy Fit chain is made of rustproof aluminum for lasting effectiveness. Anti-scratch nylon bumpers on the chain and soft-touch fabric on the center bar protect your vehicle's rims.

Included with each pair of chains is a sturdy, nylon container that unfolds into a kneeling mat. Mounting instructions are printed on the inside of the storage bag, making them easily visible every time you install the chains. Konig's Easy Fit tire snow chains are backed by a 5-year warranty.

How to Install the Easy Fit SUV Snow Chain

CU9 Installation

  1. Open the rigid arch section of the chain and pull the sides apart.
  2. Drape the chain over the top of the tire and tug down to fit it all the way around the bottom.
  3. Swing the pedal out and step on it, pushing it down the track of the center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom.
  4. Flip the pedal up into the travel position to lock in place.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Easy to install. I taught my wife and daughter how to install the snow chains in less than 1 minute. They were able to install and remove the snow chains by themselves easily. Point to note: the removal process requires some hand strength to pinch the two red tabs down and not get hit by the tension shuttle springing up. Also, the snow chains tension had to be released when I opened the box. Other than these two relatively minor issues, I'm a satisfied customer.

The Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains are just the right combination of ease of installation and effectiveness against the inclement weather here in the mountains of Oregon. Their low profile work well with the air suspension of my Range Rover Sport. I couldn't be happier with the product or the service at etrailer.com. The staff kept me up to date with my order and offered an alternative product since my selection was on backorder. I will definitely consider order from them again.

Ordering was very easy. Product descriptions are concise, shipping costs are provided, tracking of your order through to delivery appreciated. Everything you need to easily shop and place your order is on their website. Customer Service sends a courtesy email when they’ve been told delivery of your product has been made. etrailer is highly recommended!

I just received them and they look very good However I'm hoping I never need to use them. Our driveway is iver a mile long up hill all the way. We get it plowed and I've been able to get up so far but there maybe occasions where these chains will be necessary and I need easy on and off chains so that is why I purchased these particular chains. They are expensive but worth it

We've had really mild Winters, so the chains were thankfully not needed...yet. The peace of mind my husband and I felt, having them in the boot of the car, definitely helped. Both of us watched the helpful video on how to put the chains on our 2016 Toyota Venza. The video really boosted our confidence pre-road-trip. Thank you very much!

Outstanding product and price. I was able to put these on the tires in what was likely about 1.5 minutes per tire! My wife and daughter can install these without any trouble, which was a main point in purchasing the Konig easy fit, self tensioning system. Not as heavy as the chains on my 4wd vehicles, but for my Mazda CX9 with not a lot of room in the fender well, these are among the few options out there that are made of real chain, and not a cable. These chains are available elsewhere online at about $120 more than I paid at etrailer, and they showed up within a few days of ordering. I added my own kneeling pad and leather gloves to the bag that contains the chains.

Nice place to do business with. The item I ordered was out of stock, but Pat kept me informed as to what was happening often. Haven't had a chance to try putting them on yet, I can't comment on that yet. Would recommend this company.

I must say I was skeptical about easy installation. I am pleased to say these chains were EASY AND FAST to put on. Not disappointed at all. It’s worth the extra money and this chain will work on my pickup truck and Jeep Grand Cherokee, so not that costly after all. Highly recommended

Review from a similar Easy Fit in Tire Chains

I have a 2017 Ford Explorer with front wheel drive and these chains are tiny enough to clear the fender and wheel well connections when turning. I have used it only twice: last year around Christmas and this past Thanksgiving week, both leaving Mammoth Lakes, CA. It's a little tricky in that unless you wrap the the rear/inside of the tire properly, or not step on the spring lever hard enough, the chain may not set and may fall off. So, once putting them on, one must drive about 5-10 yards and check them, and stop again about 100 yards later and check them again. This last time one was not set properly by my nephew despite giving him instructions, and the chain fell off about 10 yards later. So care must be taken in putting them on properly. Now, having said all this to caution anyone about installing these chains, I unhesitatingly recommend them. They are well worth the price. Taking them off is much easier. I was done taking them off a lot sooner than those removing other chains who parked long before me where the roads were cleared. They get easier to put on with more practice.

Review from a similar Easy Fit in Tire Chains

These chains are truly magical! On our first trip up to the mountains, the snow started suddenly coming down on us before the CHP could even get out there to set up chain controls. Traffic slowed unexpectedly to a stop, and our tires began to spin. We were stuck in the middle of the road. Out we popped, put on our chains, and about 3 minutes later we were (easily) moving past all the other people putting on their chains. We were literally alone on the road while everyone else got their chains on. They were that fast! Because of the weather conditions, we actually had to take them off and then put them back on two additional times on that drive, which would have been really miserable with any other chains. I do have a couple things to be aware of: 1) You need to line the tires up perfectly in order to get them off, so it helps to have a second person to tell you when to stop. 2) During one of our installations, as we started to drive off we heard an odd sound. I got out to check and one of the tensioners had come undone, because a clip had come off of it. I was able to find the clip and get it back on, and we didn't have any further trouble - however we later inspected all the clips and saw that that one (as well as one other) did not look quite right. Worried that we would run into trouble on another trip, I called etrailer.com first - they directed me to call the company. I did, and the company was so helpful! I had taken photos of the broken chain and they quickly approved my warranty claim based on those photos and sent me a new set, in time for our next trip! We are now always careful to put the chains on, drive a few feet (so that they tighten) and then make sure they are on securely. I still give them 5 stars - they are fantastic chains.

Comments
Due to the lack of snow in our area, I have only used them one other time so far. But I’m still really glad we have them and everything in my review I still agree with.

Review from a similar Easy Fit in Tire Chains

FANTASTIC! I'm an "old guy" with arthritis so when I got my Ford F-150 stuck (for the first time in 20 years) I was concerned. I have two sets of heavy duty "ladder" chains, which I only used once and am no longer agile or flexible (or young enough) to wrestle with. So after sliding off an icy road and getting stuck for several hours; I researched various different chains that I could easily manage and could save me a day of trouble. etrailer.com was great, discussed my options with me, understood my concerns, made a range of recommendations and offered a great price. These are certainly not the cheapest chains out there but I think they are the best, especially if you are somewhat physically challenged. Sure the price caused me to hesitate but when I consider what I just went through and my needs these were the best choice. As one reviewer said, "hope I never have to use them". I agree AND I now have something I can use to help me if I ever get stuck again. They are magnificent, engineered to work well and last. They have the best chain pattern and materials on the market, are lightweight and above all else incredibly easy to put on / take off. I did as suggested and put them on for a trial run, they work as promised, amazingly well. I am delighted with my decision and hope I never have to use them but living in the Rocky Mountains one has to be prepared and now I feel confident I can manage just about anything that happens.

Very pleased with the service! I placed my order on line. I did not know, but it did not go through. Krystal called me the next day(Saturday), to let me know. She also placed the order for me and had a co worker check on Sunday to make sure it went through. I bought some Thule quick install tire chains. Very pleased with the product. It was just as they said. Their Web site was easy to navigate. Shipping was very quick, just as they said it would.

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 2013 Lincoln MKT
In an AWD vehicle, you may use one or two sets of chains. Since the owner's manual doesn't specify which axle the chains should be on if you're going with one set only, I'd recommend putting them on the front wheels because you'll want your steering axle to have the best traction possible. For some vehicles, turning off the traction control when using chains might be necessary, see the owner's manual for details. Since your owner's manual specifically mentions that chains should not...

  • Which Konig Easy Fit Tire Chains fit Tire Size 255/45-20
The Konig Easy Fit tire chains part # TH04115255 are a fit for the tire size 255/45R20 that you have and would also fit a 255/50-19 tire size like what might be the second tire size you listed but the aspect ratio is missing from what you listed. That said, tire chains don't all share the same size ranges. So while these Easy Fit chains fit the two sized mentioned other chains may not. I attached a link to a review video for Easy Fit Chains that shows how easy they are to install.

  • Compatibility of Thule Low Pro Self-Tensioning Tire Chains with 2008 Mercedes 350 ML
The Thule Low Pro Self-Tensioning Tire Chains you referenced, part # TH04115255 will fit the tires on your 350 ML. I would recommend checking your owners manual to ensure that Mercedes has no special instructions or prohibitions regarding tire chain use on your vehicle. The 107 H you are referring to is the load index and speed rating of the tire. The load index and speed rating have no bearing on using tire chains. We have an excellent Tire Chain FAQ that you might be interested...

  • Tire Chains for 2020 Lexus RX350 F Sport with 235/55-20 Tires
The Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains part # TH2004705255 and Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains part # TH04115255 are both great options for a 2020 Lexus RX 350 with 235/55-20 tires. The Konig Self-Tensioning require 12mm of clearance and the Konig Self-Tensioning Low-Pro only require 10mm of clearance. As noted, this is larger than the suggested 3mm/4mm thickness listed in the owner's manual but these figures are rather unrealistic for tires chains as none will meet...

  • How To Gain Traction In Snow With ST225/75R15 Goodyear Tires
I do not recommend siping or cutting thin slits across the surface of the The Goodyear trailer tires like part # 724857519 because it could lead to a blow out eventually. Actually Goodyear designed the trailer tread with broken up ribs (compared to long continuous ribs) that let water escape to improve traction so you don't really need to modify the tread. I have attached a photo for your reference. However, the only other way to gain traction with the trailer tires is to add snow chains...
