185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)

Video Transcript for Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Konig standard snow tire chains, part number TH01571265. These specific tire chains are designed to fit wheel sizes between 15 and 20 inches. See etrailer.com for your specific tire size. These tire chains are great in all weather conditions, on road or off road, on cars, trucks, or SUVs. They feature a diamond pattern rather than a ladder pattern, so they're going to provide you with more tire coverage, which means more traction. They have dual-sided, D-shaped links for increased traction. Most chains require a rubber adjuster or an additional part to help keep the chains tight and snug around the tire on the road. These have a built in tensioner which eliminates the need from having to buy one. Most chains also require an awkward connection where you have to get on the ground and connect them in the back. With these chains, it's all done right here in the front of the tire. It has unique color coded installation points, which makes for an easy installation.

The inner chain here has a special coating so it doesn't harm or scratch the finish of our wheel when we're on the road. They have a maximum speed rating of 30 miles per hour, and they come in a quantity of two. Also is included, is a nice storage case so you can store them when not in use. Now I'll show you how easy they are to get installed. We're going to be putting tire chains on the front tires of our MKX because it is mostly driven by the front axle. To begin our test fit, I've gone ahead and laid the chain out. It's a good idea to make sure there's no kinks, twists, or any tangles in it.

You also want to be sure that the hooks here, the open side is going to be facing away from our tire. With the way that I have it laid out, that's going to happen. Now let's slide the cable around the back side of our tire, and we want to make sure to stop when we get to the middle. Once we've done that, we then want to take our cable from each side, we're going to come up around the back side of our tire, and connect it together. At the same time, we'll drape our chain over our tire like that. Now we want to make sure when we connect that cable at the back side, it slides around the back side of the tire, then we can bring our chain over and connect our red link here, to our red hook, just like that. Then for the bottom, we're going to take our long chain here.

In our channel, we're going to bring that up through like so, then we can release it and pull it nice and tight, just like that. Then we'll take the rest of our chain, we're going to go through our loops here, and then we're going to connect it across. With this side being done, we can go ahead and repeat the same process for the tire on the passenger side. Once we get the both sides done, it's a good idea to drive a short distance, stop, get out, check to see if you need to make any adjustments. That's going to complete our look at the Konig standard snow tire chains with a diamond pattern and D-links. Part number TH01571265.

The Konig tire chains were very easy to install. I was concerned the fit might be dificult as my 21" wheels on my Cayenne were at the upper limit of the size offered but the fit is tight with no play. Excellent product. 456274

After a season where Ive been forced California to mount the Konig tire chains twice on almost a dry road I am very happy with the speed of mounting and the relatively quiet operation. They also show no signs of damage due to the dry roads.

Very fast shipping considering the storms, rec'd in less than a week. This is my second set and I got them because of how easy they where to put on my Sienna and how well they worked. This set is for my Grand Cherokee, its 4wd, but I like to have the extra margin of safety. People may give me looks for putting chains on a 4wd, but I'll do what I think its best for my family. 598564

After having these for a full winter season, I can say that they were well worth the purchase. 4.5 stars. Traction was supreme, and ease of install and removal is everything they say - awesome! Removed a star only because the plastic clips that route the little tensioning chain were quickly broken, and the rubber end is marginal. However when installed on my 2wd truck, I pulled a small box trailer up and down a very icy and steep slope (dirt road at scout camp) - without a hint of wheelspin. Same area immediately before chain install had cars and 4wd trucks stuck on a gentle grade. These are not smooth at all on pavement, but a lifesaver when needed. 737268

The chains arrived in two or three days and most importantly they fit. I had ordered chains from another company that did not fit and I had to call them twice and send 4 e-mails just to get a return started. etrailer was fast, responsive and accurate. The chains go on extremely easy and I won’t have a chance to use them for about two weeks when try to make the last uphill mile of my 5 mile road when I get back home to the New Mexico/Colorado border. 599962

Haven’t had an opportunity to use the chains just yet, but experience with etrailer very positive. Prices were the most competitively I found for a proper business (i.e. - not eBay), and the items shipped within an hour of my order late night on the weekend. They were packed adequately and arrived in perfect shape, as expected. Great job etrailer! 596858

Review from a similar Konig XB16 in Tire Chains

I have yet to need the chains but I dry fitted one and drove a little bit to see how it would perform. So far, so good. I actually and looking forward to the chance to "need" them for real. I have purchased many sets of ladder chains over the years to fit trucks I used. They were such a pain to install that I only ever did put them on one time because they were so difficult to install. These went on girly easy for a first time experience and I would reccomend them based on that one aspect alone. 605829

I looked at an online copy of the owner's manual for a 2014 Toyota Tacoma and it said you should only install tire chains on the rear wheels. • Should Snow Chains be Installed on the Front or Rear of a 4 Wheel Drive Toyota FJ Cruiser
When using tire chains, you definitely want to use them in pairs. For your FJ Cruiser, it is best to put them on the main drive axle, which is the rear axle. On most 4x4 vehicles it is generally acceptable to use chains on all 4 tires if you wish, but in this case Toyota specifically states that chains should not be used on the front tires of the FJ Cruiser. This is likely due to clearance issues or Toyota's concern that if the chain were to come loose it could damage the front suspension,...

  • Best Tire Chains Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota Tacoma going Off Road
When it comes to snow chain usage on a vehicle the only thing we can safely recommend is that you follow the owners manual's recommendations. Otherwise the warranty of the vehicle will be voided and you could potentially damage the vehicle. For the size you have I would recommend the Thule Standard Snow Chains part # TH01571265. These can be used in offroad situations, will last longer than most chains, and will provide excellent traction. I recently had the chance to install a set of...

  • Thule Standard Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota Tacoma P265 70 R16
The Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains # TH01571265 are confirmed to fit the tire size P265 70 R16 like what you have on your 2014 Toyota Tacoma. As long as the owners manual of your truck doesn't have any restrictions on snow chain usage this would be a great set of chains for your truck. I had a chance to install a set like this on a similar vehicle last week and was impressed with how easy they were to install considering how inexpensive they are relative to some of the high-end chains....

  • Snow Tire Chains Placement On 2011 Porsche Cayenne
I researched your 2011 Porsche Cayenne online, and the manual states that for four wheel drive vehicles, you can use two sets of snow chains, but if only one set is used they are normally installed on the rear tires. If you are installing tire chains on a two wheel vehicle, they are installed on the drive axle. Since there are several different options for tire and wheel sizes for your Cayenne, you will need to select snow tire chains based on the size tires you have installed. You will...

In your owner's manual, for the 265/50-20 tire size Jeep (FCA) specifies the Thule (now owned by Konig) XG 12 Pro chains in size 267 which is part # TH01594267.
