Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty with 7.3 Liter Powerstroke
You can certainly use the Derale 24 Inch Frame Rail Fluid Cooler, # D13225, for your 1999 Ford F-250. You would also need Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13025, for the 7.3 liter Powerstroke. Any transmission cooler will could essentially be considered a remote mount application. I have included a link to the coolers recommended for your truck and engine. I have also included a link to our transmission cooler FAQ article and a video showing a typical installation. Hello Dale, thanks for reaching out. The best transmission cooler for your 2002 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L if the following: - Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit - Class IV - Economy # D12904 This is a 15-1/4" Wide x 10" tall x 3/4" deep Aluminum cooler. Keep in mind, the Derale Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13018 will be required only if your vehicle is equipped with 5/8" hex on trans lines.

  • Best Transmission Cooler for a 2018 Chevy Silverado 4.3L V6
Since your 2018 Chevy Silverado has the smallest engine of that model year, I recommend the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit item # D12903. This is our largest transmission cooler for the 4.3L V6 engine with dimensions of 15-1/4" wide x 7-1/2" tall x 3/4" deep. This cooler will do a great job of keeping your transmission from getting hot when pulling a trailer with your Silverado or just daily driving. The Derale Cooler is made of lightweight aluminum. I have linked a picture...

  • Differences between the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler and the Dyno-Cool Transmission Cooler
The main difference between the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler, # D13504, and the Derale Dyno-Cool Transmission Cooler, # D12904, is the construction. The Dyno-Cool cooler is a Tube-Fin style cooler has aluminum fins surrounding the tubes. The aluminum fins dissipate the heat from the transmission fluid in the tubes. The Series 8000 cooler is a Plate-Fin cooler. Plate-fin coolers are similar to tube-fin coolers, but they are more efficient. On these coolers the fluid is forced...

  • Most Efficient Transmission Cooler Recommendation
Derale does not rate their transmission coolers in bTu but if you wanted a cooler that would work very well the Derale Stacked plate cooler # D54012 will be your best option. This is a stacked plate cooler which is the most efficient style by a long shot and is the biggest size we have at 13" Wide x 13-15/16" tall x 2" deep. While this may not be rated in bTu it would easily fit your 29,500 requirement.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2012 Chevy Tahoe
Best option is to go with a supplemental cooler installed after your factory cooler as this will maximize the cooling of the fluid. For that your best option is the Derale part # D13504 which is a very efficient and larger cooler that will get your transmission fluid temperatures down into a range that will maximize the life of it. Adding a fan would not be needed as the cooler alone will make a big enough difference.

  • Towing Capacity of 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with 5.3-liter V8 Engine
The best place to confirm the towing capacity of your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with 5.3-liter V8 engine is the printed owner's manual. This will reflect the capacity of your specific pickup with the particular mix of equipment installed on it at the factory, including the 3.42 differential. I reviewed the online trailering guide on the Chevrolet website and at most a properly-equipped 1500 can tow 12,000-lbs. But your 5.3L V8 crew cab 4x4 with 3.42 differential is shown as...

  • Installing a Transmission Cooler in a 2005 Chevy Tahoe with 5.3 Liter Engine
All vehicles with an automatic transmission have a factory installed transmission cooler. It is usually located inside the radiator out of sight. The exception seems to be on some CVT transmissions or on certain vehicles where all the lines are hidden. There are lines going to and from the transmission for the fluid. A line goes from the transmission to the radiator and then back out to the transmission. When installing a supplemental cooler the flow will go from the transmission to the...

I recommend the Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13403. This adapter allows you to easily connect the radiator to the transmission cooler. Please note the linked product review and installation videos below along with installation instructions.

  • Do the Fittings in Transmission Cooler # D12904 Require Thread Sealed Tape/Sealant When Installed
Adding thread sealed tape to the fittings in the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12904, is not necessary, but you can use some as long as it is only on the threads and not on the face of the fitting. You do not want particles getting into the transmission, so you will have to be very careful. Since it is not necessary, I recommend just using the fittings by themselves unless you discover a leak after installation. Then it would be a good idea to add the tape. I do not recommend using a...

Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, but there are some that are recommended for your 2001 Ford F-250. The Derale, # D13502 is one of them. Basically, regardless of a super cool feature, you will need to choose a transmission cooler based on where you can mount it. • Determining Transmission Return Line To Add Transmission Cooler on 2020 Ram 1500
On your 2020 Ram 1500, the best way to determine which line is the return line on your transmission is to start the engine while the engine is cold and put the shift lever in drive for 10 seconds. Then return the shifter to park, stop the engine and remove keys. You will then be able to identify the return line by feeling both the supply and return lines because the sending line will be warm and the return line will still be cold.

It will not fit on all models. The overall depth of the pan is 3-5/8 inches and the distance to the the 5/8 inch diameter cooling tubes is 2-1/2 inches from the top of the pan.
