Expert Reply:
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, but there are some that are recommended for your 2001 Ford F-250. The Derale, # D13502 is one of them.
Basically, regardless of a super cool feature, you will need to choose a transmission cooler based on where you can mount it. The most efficient place is between the grille and AC condenser core(position A on the picture to the right). The second most efficient place is between the condenser and radiator(position B). In this position, it will be 25 percent less effective. The least efficient location is between the radiator and engine (position C). The cooler will be 40 percent less effective here and it is recommended that if you must mount the cooler here, you get a larger cooler to make up for the loss.
Other coolers recommended for your truck are:
Class IV Derale Dyno-Cool Transmission Cooler, # D12904
Class II Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13501
Class IV Derale Transmission Cooler, # D13504
I have included a link to an FAQ article on transmission coolers that has a lot of helpful information.
