Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.
One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Purchased this product for my 2013 Nissan SV as was pulling a 23 ft RV on a 6500 mile out west trip from Fl. to NY, via Grand Canyon, Yellow Stone NP, and Mt. Rushmore. Had some 7% & 8% Mts. to climb, so put extra cooler on as protection. Granted, this was a second cooler, but for the money, figured well worth it. The whole trip went absolutely problem free. Trans. never got above normal operating temp. Sooooooo--for my money, this product performed better than i presumed it would. If your not sure if you need it, for the cost, but it anyway. Installation very simple, and results speak for themselves. 468695
I received my cooler for my 1989 Olds 88 in record time (e.g. 2 days)! After reading the instructions, I saw that the manufacturer recommends the cooler be installed in series with the cooler integral to the cars radiator. This requied addtional hose (about 3ft.). The local auto parts store carried 5/16" hose (same hose ID but a different mfr than that supplied) but found the auto parts store hose next to impossilbe to place over the cooler header fitting. I was able to install a clamp before the tubing walked itself off. I would recommend taking the cooler to the parts store and fit it up with a hose that fits properly if you need to get extra for installation. I appreciated the video that was available on your website to familiarize myself with the installation before I attempted the project. I have yet to put it to the test with a trailer in tow. Seems to be quality product. The instructions were well written. Thanks! 23813
Just installed this today on 2007 Honda Odyssey. JUST enough hose. Enough hose clamps if you reuse the factory ones on the trans connections. Did not need to take the bumper or bumper cover off, just the grill, and top and bottom covers. However, this makes it very difficult to get those zip rods attached. It was possible, but I had to get my tiny wife to fit her hands down there for the bottom ones. Now, lets see if it will save my tranny when I start towing 3500 lbs for 2 months and 4000 miles... will have to report back then and give a real rating then. 251259
The cooler arrived intact on my doorstep with all the parts and pieces present, and it took about two hours to install the unit. I needed to fabricate some mounting brackets as I didn't want to use the plastic ties that go through the radiator. I have a 2011 Subaru Outback with a 3.6 motor and a 5 speed automatic. I frequently tow a boat and need to keep the tranny cool, specially during the summer months. The installation is pretty straight forward as per instructions that are included. Each vehicle will be a bit different but a home mechanic should be able to install this cooler fairly easily. 6830
No good spot on 2016 explorer limited to mount this. None of the recommended spots were feasible for install. Could have mounted it to a composite cross member, but chose not to. Will be returning item. 678880
Works great but words of wisdom have a professional installation done. My buddy and I poked a hole in my a/c condenser and it cost me a grand to fix the problem. 527220
I am submitting this review even though all of your customers MUST know you have one of the best, if not THE best, trailer company in the USA. You have the best products, the best selection for various applications, and no other company can beat your prices... I already purchased a lot of your products and believe me when I say I did extensive research on the exact same products before submitting my orders due to my limited funds. All of your staff are kind, courteous, patient (when it comes to helping a trailer-newbie, such as myself) understanding, very knowledgeable, and professional. Submitting an order is easy, and all of my various orders where shipped almost instantaneously and arrived on schedule. You are the best... and then, there are all the rest! Thank you for having such a great operation! 526514
Transmission cooler installation on 2012 GMC Yukon 5.3L. Top brace added for support. 103917
Most passenger cars do not have factory installed transmission coolers, including the Vision in all likelihood. On that car you will find a radiator for cooling the engine block and an A/C compressor condensor. If the Vision did have one, it would be integrated into the radiator at one of th corners.

Easy to install. Works great. 915940
I installed this trans cooler in a Toyota FJ cruiser that I use for occasional towing of trailers/loads up to about 4500 lb. The cooler, of course, is hidden away in the engine compartment so I don't really see it. It does the job I expected, keeping the trans fluid within range with no drama. I am quite satisfied with it and recommend it. 904547
Had an automatic transmission that would overheat pulling a trailer up a steep grade on rough dirt roads. Put a deeper aluminum oil pan on it but still had the problem. This cooler has cured that problem. Wasn't too bad to install. It didn't come with enough hose for my application though so I deducted a star 884326
Installation on a Honda crv requires so much disassembly of the front end of the car that I decide against installing it. 867032
Buy the extension hose Derale 13003, you'll need it on a 2016 Odyssey (Napa can't help you, this is an odd size hose, force 5/16" or 3/8" on at your transmission's peril $$$$! Decent cooler, simple. 860493
Had it for a year now on my 2009 Pathfinder. After deleting the radiator cooler this has been more than enough for regular daily driving. 856838
