Hi everyone, I'm Evangeline right here at Etrailer. Today, we'll be taking a look at, and I'll also show you how to install this Yakima roof rack. We have it installed right here on the 2025 Nissan Rogue. If you're looking for something that is heavy duty, can carry a lot of different things, and is a really versatile and sturdy rack, this might be a really good option for you. There are many roof rack options for the Nissan Rogue with varying types of bars and methods of securing to the vehicle. The very first thing you're gonna be looking at as you're filtering through those options is what type of roof do you have Do you have a rail up there, or do you have no rails whatsoever, which is also called a naked roof If that's the case for you, well, that's fine because this has very custom fit designed clamps that go into where your door goes, and that secures the whole system.
Now this is a combination of three different products. You have your crossbars, available in different lengths and different colors. You have your towers, which is what really provides the base of the system. And then you have your custom fit kit. At Etrailer, we have it all kitted together for you.
So I highly recommend using our fit guide on our website to make sure you filter through the Nissan Rogue kit. These are gonna be their JetStream arrow bars in black, also available in silver. This is the recommended length from Yakima for the Rogue.
Now this gives you an overhang of from your tower to right before your end cap, two inches, which, in my opinion, I usually like using longer crossbars because then it's easier to reach up onto the roof, and you have more crossbar space. However, for those that have crossbars on there pretty much all the time, they like that sleeker in between length that we have here. It doesn't look too bulky on the roof, but it still is very useful. So it's up to you what your priorities are with what you're carrying. The next thing I'd like to measure for is roof height clearances.
Now Yakima has a unique feature where they can tilt to the roof angle, which gives them a lot of space to work with where you can carry around longer items. And with the style of the roof rack, it also means you can use different types of clamps. So roof height, I first measure from top of the roof to the bottom of the bar. I have about three and a quarter inches, which is really good. Most of the clamps will work with that. Next is from the roof to the top of the crossbar, and I'm at about four and a half inches. That measurement will be different depending where along the roof you measure, but that's a really good height too, where if you are carrying let's say skis with extra tall bindings, you'll make sure there's enough clearance, your bindings aren't scratching up the roof. If you need extra accessories that give you more height, we sell like the snowboard carriers that give you more height. But here, it's a good balance of height and usefulness. On some cars, you can adjust at the location of your clamps and your roof rack for your different accessories. When you have a naked roof like this, since the clamps as well as the foot pack is custom fit for the contours of your vehicle, it stays where you install it. So, if you measure for crossbar spread from the front crossbar to the rear crossbar, that's gonna be 32 inches of crossbar spread, which is a lot. Most items, roof boxes, roof baskets will work with that, but double check those just to make sure they do. The next measurement is from the rear bar to the top of the hatch. So let's say you have a kayak on there or a really long ladder, you wanna make sure that you're not losing out on that hatch access. This is gonna be 33 inches from center of the bar to that hatch. So if you're looking to carry a really long canoe, hopefully that measurement helps you out. The process for installing a baseline system can be a little confusing because there's multiple numbers on the instructions, there's different pieces, different hooks, different rubber pads. So I'm gonna guide you through that process. Now I already installed the rear crossbar. We get to install the front crossbar together. The very first thing you need to do is you need to organize all your pieces. You're gonna have the towers, you're gonna have adapters for the towers. Those will come with your crossbars. And then you're gonna have your custom fit kit. You will have two sets, one for the front and one for the back. The first thing we'll do is set up our towers with our adapter pieces. The way this works is this comes with your crossbars and will be what secures your crossbars to your tower. Now turn your tower over, if it has the cap, just pull that out. And then you're gonna see this tab right here. So pull that out till it clicks, because that will reveal a door and a bolt underneath. So get your torque tool included with your kit, and when you fit your adapter pieces in just like that, plastic piece, and then middle piece, tightening down on that bolt will thread onto that metal nut. Now don't tighten it down all the way, keep it a little loose, but do this for all four towers. Now set up your crossbars. Underneath your bars, you may have a removable rubber strip. Go ahead and take that out, but save it for later. We're also gonna have this end cap. Now it's good to orient yourself with your crossbars. See where that Yakima logo is That's gonna be the top. See where it's taller That's gonna be the front. And see where it's tapered That's gonna be the back. So we're gonna work underneath the crossbar. We're gonna start by removing the end cap. If your end cap is off, keep that off. I always tend to break a nail removing this, so I always just use a little flathead screwdriver to pry our end cap off. With that end cap off, you can now slide the two towers that you had set up. So see that middle piece and see how that slides through I just slide both towers through the exact same spot, so I only have to remove one end cap. One, and two. Notice how they are facing each other. And then just slide it on over. Putting the end cap back on. So where do you slide the towers to Well, printed underneath the towers are a bunch of numbers, and this is gonna be what your M1 measurement number is for. In our case, that's 38 inches and an eighth. You're going to line up the end of the tower with the number printed on the bar. For this next step, I'm gonna need you to orient yourself where this arrow is facing away from you. So stand right where you can see this video, arrow facing away. That way, as you attach your foot pack and you adjust your pitch, you know which direction you need to go. So your foot pack is in your fit kit. This is just going to click into that metal bar on your tower. So let's do, one, two. Notice how that arrow is facing out. Now we're gonna adjust our pitch and our toe. That middle bolt there, that's gonna be the pitch. So if you tilt your tower back and forth, you'll see that that location of the pitch changes. And if you hold onto that foot pack and you turn your tower around, so let's make this loose, that will adjust the toe. So, remember where you we inchesre standing, where the arrow is facing forward A, which is where we need to be today, is when the bolt is on the notch far away from you. So, get your torque tool, hold your towers so that that bolt is on that notch, and tighten that bolt down. You're gonna continue doing this until your torque tool clicks, just like that. Now for your toe, that's gonna be number two, which, good news for you, is gonna be right in the middle. So hold that there and tighten that bolt down. Now it's time to put this onto your roof. As to where you put this on the roof, well, you're gonna have the M2 measurement, that's gonna be measured from that front seam of your windshield, and in our case, M2 is 12 inches back. So go ahead, measure that out, and then set your towers on that spot. Once you have it in the exact same spot on both sides, we're ready to attach the hook. Now something that's interesting that I see here on the Rogue is I was expecting the foot pack to sit right where our rubber strip was, but in actuality, it looks like we have a little bit of the foot pack going on over to the panel of the car. As long as it's the same on both sides, and as long as the hook fits well, then it's fine. So prep up for the hook, get your tool, and then you're going to want to loosen on the bolt on the inside. You're then going to make sure that the tab is facing down on that bolt because you're gonna fit that hook in just like that. So see how it's gonna slide the hook in, and now when I'm pulling, it's pulling down on the bolt Well, that's good. Do that on both sides and then make sure that hook sits down. Then you're gonna tighten down the swing bolt as well as this tightening down bolt. What I do is I tighten down just till this sits flush. We don't want it too tight just yet, just where it barely touches the car. The reason I don't fully tighten down one side is because I still need to do the other side. If you fully tighten down one, it's gonna pull the whole system that way. Tighten one side down halfway, goes to the other one, tighten that down a little bit more, and just go back and forth so it's all evenly tightened down. Once both your swing bolts up top and your tension bolts on the bottom are secured and tightened down with your torque tool, I like to make sure it clicks twice. Then go ahead and close that door. Close the upper door if you haven't closed it yet, and then grab your end cap. This fits where you put the bottom on first and you kinda like swing it up, and that clicks into place. Now all four of your towers are gonna have this plastic cover. That's totally fine, pretty normal. If you do want to add some metal lock cores to it, you can purchase the SKS lock cores. They come in a multi-pack sold separately right here at Etrailer. You can switch those out for something you can use a key with. And that's gonna be it. Once I have everything secured, I just give them a good old shake to make sure they're all right there on the roof. And now I can load it up and hit the road because you are now done with the installation of your roof rack. What you saw today was our kit consisting of the 50 inch long JetStream crossbars in the color of black, our foot pack, which is the baseline towers, and the custom fit kit for the 2025 Nissan Rogue. These bars are outstanding. They were purchased for a Jeep grand cherokee '18. I had previously purchased from another brand, but the whistle noise was constant and very noticeable. These are completely quiet, I am glad I changed to the yakima bars. Installation was also much easier, and more "flush" mounting with the yakima brand. Glad to do business with etrailer!
The Yakima roof rack system for my 2019 CX9 with flush mounted rails worked out great, and etrailer customer service was excellent. My first choice was to purchase the Thule system but after digging deeper, I realized that the Yakima was much easier to install. Changing my mind to Yakima was very easy even though the Thule system was almost ready to ship. One suggestion that I think will help with the installation. Add some blue masking tape to the backside of the inner ridge fit clip to temporarily hold it in place. Once secured, the tape can be removed.
the product was exceptional. I would recommend it to anyone, who has a vehicle with a naked roof. It is a solid as a factory installed rack. Josh went out of his way to get me a replacement torque screw driver because the first one from Yakima was working properly.

The rack system seems very good, but time will tell, of course. The installation is difficult and time consuming. I purchased the system needed from etrailer website with guaranteed to fit pieces. I would call myself a very experienced do-it-yourselfer. I followed directions slowly, carefully, and exactly, yet there were problems. The video for installation given for my exact order did not match the printed and actual assembly and installation directions. The baseclips that were guaranteed for my model vehicle were actually for a different model vehicle according to the enclosed sheet ... however they did work anyway but caused some "looking up" and some confusion during assembly. I was careful to assemble exactly to measurements given ... and once that is all done and tightened and "sealed up" you put them on the roof, only to find that they could have been spaced a bit wider for a perfect fit. They are fine enough and we'll see if they stay tight to the vehicle. If not will need to take it all apart and widen the spacing.
It is excellent that basically only one tool that is provided with the racks is needed. And also that each part must "click" when properly tightened. That adds reassurance and satisfaction while assembling.
There are so many models of vehicles and it is not easy to figure all this out. etrailer has a very helpful website, response, and videos to help ... but my review is to emphasize that the instructions are not perfect. One needs lots of patience, common sense, and perhaps re-assembly for a perfect outcome.

I ordered this as part of my roof rack for a 2021 Nissan rogue. The complete roof rack set was unavailable le as one bracket was on back order and said would ship in under a month so I ordered everything else in the meantime. Little did I know it would take a over a year to get one stupid bracket and yes, I'm still waiting. I can't even return the items I bought because it's way past the 90 day policy even though they're brand new still in the box collecting dust. etrailer, this has been the worst experience I've had yet with you guys. Oh still waiting for my one bracket to complete my roof rack

For those also buying crossbars for cars without roof rails, recommend taking a silver sharpie and marking the placement of the crossbars on the weather seal at the top of the door openings. Makes putting them back on way less of a hassle if you don’t want them on 24/7.

Lightweight and actually quite quiet with no attachments on them. With my bike racks there is a fair amount of noise but it doesn't come from just these. Mine is on a 2011 BMW 335.
The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. I love that there's a rubber piece in the top rail that doesn't need to be cut, which makes it a very flush and smooth fit. I also love the modularity and the weight that it can handle, especially for the stuff i plan on carrying.
The yakima jetstream crossbar looks beautiful. Quality is great. Took my vehicle for a test drive, and i didnt hear anything loose or broken from the bars. Very satisfied with the product and the instructions were great. It was my first time installing a roof rack too.

I waited several weeks for roof rack to arrive after ordering online. I am accustomed to Thule racks, but could not find any towers/bases to fit the 2019 Santa Fe. Once here, the Yakima rack mounted with ease and I look forward to hauling kayaks or basket on the roof.

I chose Yakima because I had one in the past and they were always reliable. Thule was my next choice but didn’t like the look of 53’ crossbars on my car. I really appreciated the easy to follow instruction that made installation a breeze. The kit came complete with everything I needed to install right out of the box. I purchased the 2 Hightower bike racks to go with the roof rack system and plan to safely secure both bikes for our trips. It was a bit heavier than I anticipated (combined with the bike carriers) which will hurt my MPG but having easy access to disassemble the bike carriers when not in use made it a no brained. Additionally, I love the look of the system on my car.
Rack is still on the car one year later. Yakima doesn’t have a replacement cover for the tower, which is flimsy.
The only problem I had, was when I watched the video showing how to install the rack, I did not realize that the actual installation process was a lot more complex. For example, the woman who was in the video only showed the installation one rack (I believe itg was the back rack and she gave the width measurement for that one. The front rack was already on the car and the woman neglected to say, "check your manual. The width of the front rack (may be) different than the back. She also did not explain carefully that there were three different screws that needed to be adjusted for a proper fit so the towers were properly adjusted for yoiur specific car. (My car is a 2018 Chevy Volt.) (I also bought Yakima kayak cradles from you guys, which were easy to install.)
However, I blame myself for not reading the manual carefully, so when I installed the racks, they did not fit right and one of them actually fell off while I was driving. (Luckily there were kayaks on and no one was hurt. The two towers were damaged but luckily the rack and the kayak cradles were fine. I called etrailers and was told I had to contact Yakima, which I did. I explained to the Yakima customer service rep that I was at fault for trusting the video and not reading the manual carefully and after asking me to send him photos of the damaged towers he sent me two new towers for free, as well as another torque wrench, so I could work with a second person.
This time I read the manual carefully and watched the Yakima video many times during the a week before I felt confident enough to try installing the racks again.
This time they fit perfectly. I love both the rack and the kayak cradles. I use them to transport my two kayaks down to the Hudson River near my house and have also used them to carry the kayaks to a family camping site 50 miles away, confident they are safe and secure.
But please, review the video you put out for the installation of the racks onto a 2017 Chevy Volt, and either correct the shortcomings by doing it over, with an explanation about the adjustment of the widths, and also reading the manual and finding the correct positions for the adjustment screws. (Or delete it and refer your customers to the Yakima installation video. Though it’s more generic than yours, at least the tell the customer to refer to the manual.
