This platform rack was designed for the Australian Outback, so it’s ready for tough conditions and heavy gear. They do the job. I can't say that they look like they were custom-made for my new vehicle, but I trust them to stay on and keep my boat on the car. They hold securely.
This thing added a great deal of flexibility to my 4Runner. Rock solid and almost limitless options for roof storage allowed me to customize it to transport a kayak and roof box that would never have been possible otherwise.
I am going to include the Landing Pads, Skyline Towers, LockNLoad adapters, and Pivoting Mounts that are all required for my vehicle in this review of the 84" x 54" LockNLoad Platform. First, I had done months of research trying to figure out what would work and meet my needs for a 2008 GMC Yukon XL. Without the help of etrailer's agent, Ashley, I'd probably still be trying to figure things out! Ashley was patient and thorough, she made sure I had all the parts I needed for a fairly complex (and large!)project. I cannot thank her enough!
On to the assembly and installation: Ashley confirmed that following instructions was key to efficient building - I found that combining online instructions with the included hard copies worked best. As an example, the online fastener images and descriptions are far better than the paper ones. Then, having the paper instructions in hand made "in the moment" progress much faster. All of the Yakima parts fit together perfectly, and by methodically following the instructions (I cannot stress this enough!), including pre assembling Landing Pads, Towers, and Pivoting Mounts, there was no need to backtrack. Once I had a day to devote to the project, everything went very smoothly. Placing the large Platform on the mounts does require two people, but the rest was easy for one fairly handy person to accomplish. Making adjustments to be sure the Platform is centered and square to the roof took some time but it's worth it in the end. Again, thanks to etrailer and particularly Ashley! It was a pleasure doing business with you!
An Excellent Roof Rack!
etrailer service was fantastic as always. Package was well packed and shipped quickly. The communications from etrailer clear and timely.
The Yakima Timberline Towers were the correct towers for this application. The instructions seem to have been illustrated using completely different towers as models, nothing in the drawings match up to the parts on my workbench. The instructions had 1/11 pronted on them, i wonder if they were printed when the towers were a different design. I figured it out but it took some head scratching. The current Yakima torque driver was also a disappointment, the last Yakima rack i installed had a nice torque driver that clicked when tight. This time I needed to be very careful not to overtighten, it wouldn't click no matter how much force was applied.
I've installed at least a dozen roof racks over the years, this on was more frustrating than all the others.

The instructions are good but it helped to watch a videos. Did not have any clicks for tightness.as in the video.

Yakima products aren't the cheapest on the market but the engineering is excellent and I'm very pleased with the finished installation. The included torque wrench insures each tower is installed uniformly.

Mounted to the top of my 2018 F-150 Super Crew Cab. Had Yakima Baselines, with HD Bars, HD Bar Adapters and the locknload crossbar adapters. Wished I was able to install it without crossbars as it requires that I buy them, also adds a bit of height to the the locknload as well.
Very well built, had my wife (125lbs) walking around on it after I mounted the locknload. Took about an hour to assemble the locknload and maybe another hour or two of adjusting the bars to where I wanted the locknload to sit on the roof. Other than it looks a bit too high I do love them. Will probably see what I can do about lowering the locknload in the future.
Excellent quality platform and kit! I looked all over for something that could be mounted directly to my 2015 Sienna factory rails. This did the job!
I originally had a different setup in mind. But etrailer took the time to understand what I was trying to do, and switched me to this so it would work.

I can't praise this platform and the customer service for etrailer enough. I wasn't 100% on which size to get but with a quick email chat we got it sorted out. The wife and I now use this platform on a regular basis and has gone on multiple road trips and countless adventures including kayaks, Christmas trees, coolers, luggage and more! Assembly is easy but definitely use 2 people to mount it to the roof rails. The only fuel economy loss we noticed was when it gets packed with snow between the platform and roof (21mpg to 15mpg) or with our loaded Rhino Rack Luggage bag strapped to it (21mpg to 19mpg). the amount of space saved and capabilities with this is worth the 2mpg loss on long road trips or the time it takes to clean the snow out. This year we are adding the OverNOut 270 XL Awning for some shade and rain protection for our future adventures.
They do what they are supposed to: allowed me to swap out my jetstream bars to a locknload rack on my Timberline towers.
