Recommendation on a 1 or 2 Kayak Carrier for a 2010 Subaru Forester

The Stacker carrier can carry 1-2 kayaks at a time. The Stacker includes hardware and tie-down straps to help secure your kayaks to your roof rake and vehicle. It carrier can be mounted on a vehicle with a minimum crossbar spread of 24 inches. I you are looking for a carrier that will carry up to 2 kayaks and can be loaded easier form the side of the vehicle, then I recommend the Yakima JayLow Kayak Carrier # Y04073. The JayLow carrier has a built-in ramp that will assist in loading your boat into the j-style position of the carrier. Once you have loaded a boat in the j-style part of the carrier, you can also install a second boat in the vertical position next to the other boat. Extra straps like # Y05006 will be needed to secure a second boat.

Yes, you will need a set of crossbars to install a kayak carrier to your 2010 Subaru Forester. For your vehicle, I recommend the Yakima CoreBar Crossbars # Y00421 with the Yakima TimberLine Towers # Y33TR. The CoreBar Crossbars have a aerodynamic shape that will create a quiet roof rack when your vehicle is in transit. These crossbars are constructed of steel and have a 220 lbs weight capacity. The TimberLine Towers are designed to attach to your factory side rails and can be easily positioned along the side rails to the desired location for installing the kayak carrier. Either one of the kayak carriers, the Thule Stacker # TH830 or the Yakima JayLow # Y04073, will work with this roof rack system.
