Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Thule Replacement EasySnap Mounting Hardware for the Thule Time Travel ES series cargo boxes. This kit is going to replace lost or damaged mounting hardware for your Thule Excursion ES, Frontier ES, or Mountaineer ES roof rack cargo box. This can also work as a direct replacement for your Thule Cascade and Evolution cargo boxes that are originally equipped with Quick Snap hardware. So these are going to be an exact replacement from Thule. So it is gonna be very simple to get your cargo box put in place.
You've got your U-bolts here and will just slide into those EasySnap housings and then you'll get it tightened down to where you want it very easily. Turn that, rotate that and it will lock in place and you can push down that red tab to ensure that it won't lift up and rotate for you. So this kit is going to include four of these EasySnap housings, four of the 3-1/4 inch wide by 3 inch long by 1/4 inch diameter U-bolts, four of these rubber gaskets on the U-bolts, two tie down straps, and one sheet of 15 vinyl hole covers. So if you are needing to replace even just one of these components, this kit is gonna do a great job for you. And then you'll have some extras on hand as well.

Apparently my Frontier Cargo Box is an older version and the easy snap mounting hardware does not fit unless I drill some new holes. No big deal. But they do fit the Rola Aero bars that I have on the BMW X5 which is why I brought them in the first place..
Great company. I had an issue with a part I ordered being received damaged. Emailed and a replacement part was sent quickly. Will continue to use this company as they stand behind their products!
Part works great an improvement over original oem.
Seemed cheaply made, especially for the price. There is no way to tighten these down nice and snug like the old traditional mounting hardware, which is why I returned it. It's crucial that the cargo carrier remain in place and tightly secured. Any shift in its orientation on the vehicle can cause excessive drag, noise, and fuel consumption. Not to mention I just don't feel secure about it if its not tightened securely.

It’s the perfect replacement hardware for our Thule Evolution 1800…what a relief it was to get those EasySnap mounting hardware pieces and in suce a short period of time.
Very poorly made. Cheap plastic, even the threads are cheap,brittle plastic. Now I have to eat the return fee. I should never have e bought this piece of trash.

I was able to quickly retro fit my Thule Classic cargo carrier with the Easy Snap system. I love these ! No more twisting screws to attach to the roof racks. I only had to drill 4 holes and I was done. Took me longer to take the old mounting hardware.

After a year of ownership, I'm very happy with these things. They've made the Thule much easier to take on and off compared to the OEM bolt options. They have been robust enough and nothing has broken.
I have the Thule Evolution 1600 from Sears. The mounting system that was supplied with it was simple and straight forward, but way too much trouble and aggravating to use. Item 05704, the EasySnap Mounting Hardware required the drilling of one hole for each of the four units. Also, the existing hole that is used had to be enlarged at each mounting site. The pre-drilled holes were not the correct spacing for the EasySnap. I knew that the hole spacing on the Thule was not the same as the specs given for the EasySnap before I ordered. It's not rocket science. If you're tired of stretching yourself to screw eight knobs while holding everything in place, then just go ahead and get this setup. The EasySnap was not supposed to work with the Thule Evolution 1600, but it does - if you're willing and able to drill a hole. And etrailer.com will get your order to you quick, as usual.

No problems! Easy to use. Very pleased.
I ordered the replacement mounting hardware to improve the experience with our Cargo box. Unfortunately, we didn't have the EasySnap to begin with, so I need to drill new holes. I drilled a small pilot hole and then used a 5/16 bit and was sure to have a sturdy scrap of wood beneath the target location. The EasySnap hardware works exactly as I had hoped and has made using the cargo box less of a hassle and more of a benefit. Thank you to etrailer for going above and beyond with answering my questions and getting me in touch with Thule directly for additional clarification.

Thank you! Our summer trip was soooooo much better without the struggle that came with the gear we replaced. The EZ brackets are amazing!
I was surprised that the parts fit my Evolution Thule without any modifications. The physical size difference between the new style and the old style was in the thickness of the holding bracket I am very satisfied.

Still use the bracket kit and it works great. I loan the Thule out forother scout functions and no one has any problem attaching it to theirvehicles.
Thule doesn't make an Easy Snap System for the older Excursion Cargo Box anymore. I contacted Hally C. at etrailer and she made her "best guess" as to which Thule Easy Snap (TH05704) would come close to fitting the Excursion. Received it on time. It didn't quite fit. Drilled one hole in each of the 4 bolt down locations for the U-bolts and the Easy Snap fit perfectly. Thank you Hally and etrailer, you were great, I couldn't have done it without you!
Bought these for an older Thule Cascade cargo box. They worked perfect and are easy to use!

The parts are still great. Have held up and are easy to use. I have recommended your site to others, hopefully some have become customers.
About two years ago, I managed to loose one of the U bolts holding my Thule Evolution ski box... not sure what happened... it was just gone one day after a trip. This year I felt it was time to replace it. To my horror, finding 'just a ubolt' from Thule's website was impossible and I ended up on etrailer.com. Ended up reading a lot of reviews and found that the best thing to do was to get the complete replacement kit #05704 which would give me new EasySnap locks + ubolts. On more than one review it was stated that the EasySnap locks should fit the Evolution box.
I received the kit in just a few days, with emails on the same day as my submitted order that the product was shipped and also email when it was delivered. Not bad etrailer.com... not bad.
I got the ski box down from under the garage, opened it up and started replacing the original Quick locks (not sure on the name to be honest - gray lever with red plastic lock). Found it a little difficult to know what to do, how to get them off to be honest. Took a break to search for some etrailer.com steps on how to do it, but found none - surprising.
Started looking closely at the new EasySnap hardware, and found a little indentation on the 'legs' that go through the ski box itself on the sliding guide of my evolution box. Looked at the original hardware, and found the same bumb. Could it be that all I had to do is to pry it off with force? Tried the first one - and sure enough. Just a little elbow grease and off they all came. Where is the easy button?
Putting the new EasySnap mounting hardware back on the ski box was a little harder. Pushing too hard moved the plastic guides in the Evolution box out of the way instead of forcing the EasySnap legs into the plastic guide holes. A little 'lets do one leg at a time with a little twisting back and forth' was the trick. When the first leg was in, getting the second one in seemed not to be a problem at all.
So there you have it... hopefully this review will help somebody in the future.

The Thule windscreen was EZ to install and made a significant difference in wind noise from my Thule square bar rack system. The windscreen fit perfectly between the factory rails on my '17 Toyota 4Runner. I went from putting the rack on when I needed it to leaving it on all the time. Now I use it more often because its less hassle and without the windnoise!
They work. I forgot I had them on when I took my thule box out this year and it made installation faster. I worry that they won't hold since they are not screwing on like an old fashioned wing nut, but as I said, they work.
The only down side is that you need to push the u-bolts in from below while simultaneously tightening the clamps from above, and I have a very tall vehicle. but I was able to do it without too much fuss.
So yes, they work.
I purchased this knowing that I may have to retro fit my 1st generation thule 673 excursion box. When it arrived I realized the holes were approx. a 1/2" closer than the original which meant I'd have to drill additional holes. I used a 7/16" drill and bored the original mounting holes larger at the 2nd hole position in on both ends of each mounting section and added one additional hole on either end to account for the possibility of different rack locations on several vehicles. I'm using it on this trip with thule load bars and it is now much easier and faster to mount than with my old quick mount hardware with thumb screws. Overall it took less than an hour to adapt it for the easy mount hardware and I can easily convert back to the old style hardware if something were to break.
I purchased this kit to upgrade and replace the mounting hardware for my Thule Cascade cargo box. The kit was easy to use and makes mounting the box on my car easier then the old hardware. Because the holes in the plastic sliders are further spaced then the new U-bolts I had to drill a 7/16" new hole at each location.
I retrofitted this to an older Frontier box. The old mounting hardware which is ironically called "quick mount" is a nightmare to use, especially in the cold and or snow/rain. I used a 1/2" bit (I read 7/16" is perfect but didn't have one) and drilled one new hole behind the existing holes. After that the Frontier now attaches in a just a minute or two. This product is going to save me a lot of time, and my kids will learn fewer new words. The U bolts are a little long, so you have to be careful to not scratch the roof. I'm not sure how well it will fit my wife's Volvo XC60 since the bars are pretty close to the roof. Overall I love this product thus far.
These work great and it's nice to be able to tie items down IN the carrier. I will say though that I had to drill news holes because the brackets did not fit. Might have been my error but drilling holes in plastic was not hard. I would recommend these and I'd buy them again!
I bought this product to replace a different style (perhaps older?) Thule EasySnap hardware that came with my Volvo cargo box (manufactured by Thule.) The newer product works as intended, but I do like the original style EasySnap hardware that originally came with the cargo box better, but I've been unable to find those.
Really happy with this purchase. Makes putting the car-top carrier on a lot easier, able to get it on in minutes now. Installation is easy and they hold tight, even on long trips. The EasySnap parts have held up well, no complaints so far!
