Good morning, im looking at a 2014 Ford Edge with the V6 engine. Is that a good choice for flat tow behind my 2014 Tiffin 34TGA? Thank you

Hey Tom, yes the 2014 Ford Edge with the V6 engine is a great vehicle for flat towing. It's perfectly safe to do so as long as you follow the outlined instructions on how that are in the owners manual. The first thing you'll need to flat tow would be the Blue Ox base plate kit part # BX2628 which is a confirmed fit.
In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. One of the most popular compatible tow bars is the Blue Ox Avail # BX7420 which comes with safety cables. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Curt RVi Series 4 Portable Flat Tow Brake System # RVI44FR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Don't know much about the Ford Edge. If you are going to flat tow, make sure that it is 4wd and has a neutral on the transfer case. Blue Ox is a great tow system and relatively easy to install the base plate.

We bought the Blue Ox on recommendation of a longtime friend and RVer. We have been very pleased with it and have travelled over 12,000 miles from AR to the Olympic Peninsula of WA to the Upper Peninsula of MI. We also were pleased to see that the vast majority of fellow RVers were using a Blue Ox tow bar.

I bought the blue ox tow bar to replace one that was about 15 years old. I tow a 2006 jeep grand Cherokee behind my motorhome. These are great tow bars as you can see by my previous usage and I replace it with a similar one. I already had the base plate so I didn’t need to get it. Blue Oz is a great manufacturer and they will inspect them at no cost if you attend RV rallies.

I got the tow bar and the add-on lighting kit to use with a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. I installed the base plate myself, which was a lot of work, but has been functioning well. I've towed the Jeep behind our 30' Coachman for two major cross-country trips to date and it's been excellent. The hitch attaches and detaches easily, and the Jeep rides quite well on the tow bar. I do agree with the statement that for the price, a cover could be included though.
