Just returned from our first foray to a bike trail using the Rhino-Rack. Success! The rack was delivered promptly (I think the rack shipped within a couple of hours of my placing the order!). Assembly was very simple. Securing the bikes to the rack is easy. The instructions for securing them were clear and easy to follow. After driving a few miles I felt good that the bikes seemed secure on the rack even when traveling over some bumpy and uneven roads. And I really like the convenience of being able to tilt the rack away from the tailgate even with the bikes on it.So far so good, very happy with our purchase.

I am very surprised how heavy duty this rack is. Compared to a lot of the other racks I looked at, this one is an excellent value for the money. I just wish it was more clear how to get a locking hitch pin that fits this rack.

Seems to be just the kind of product I was looking for to carry a full-size bike on the back of my Airstream Interstate (Sprinter 3500 van). (I will need to purchase a couple of simple locks to discourage those seeking one at the five-finger discount. :) )

Loving my Rhino 2 Bike Rack! The wide 3 in. frame holders are great as I have Roll Elite Specialized bike and the frame is more flat & wide. 2 in. post fits my 2 in. hitch nicely on my 2017 Lincoln MKC. Very stable, good price and impressive customer communication! Have recommended to friends.

We really like this Rhino-Rack bicycle rack. At a great price, it is very sturdy & easy to load. The big handles make it easy to fold down, as well as tilt out of the way for quick access to the rear SUV door. Also, it doesn't block the rear view mirror or back-up-camera views. This Rhino-Rack looks and performs every bit as well, if not better than the popular & more expensive brand that we also own for our other SUV. Since our SUV did not have a hitch, we had one installed that was the best size to fit this rack. We have only experienced a few minor issues with the Rhino-Rack, all of which were easily resolved: 1) We changed the hitch lock. The factory recommended hitch lock was very expensive ($35) & very troublesome. We returned the hitch lock when the key completely jammed, but could only get a replacement. Rather than having more problems with this poorly designed lock system, we installed a simple padlock instead, which fits perfectly. 2) The rack initially rattled while driving. We tightened every possible bolt & added a stick-on, felt circle-pad over the tilt touch point, which stopped any annoying noises. 3) The bikes slipped once. There are multiple options for positioning the bike cradles. I found that hanging the bikes from the deepest cradle possible & strapping them very tightly will prevent the bikes from slipping out of the cradle while traveling. Do not make the mistake of hanging the bikes from the flattest part of the cradle or leaving any slack in the straps, or the bikes will bounce out of position. Overall we have been very satisfied with the durability & ease of use of the Rhino-Rack, but do not recommend buying the factory recommended hitch lock.

I researched quite a few racks and seeing the videos of the Rhino Rack in action along with the detailed pros and cons helped me make my decision. I mounted the rack on my 2018 Dodge Durango today and I love it. It is very sturdy with 2 mountain bikes on it and it is very easy to put on and take off. I especially like the 2 levers for tilting the entire rack away for hatch access and for folding the upper rack down when not in use. Awesome product and awesome service from etrailer.

Rack arrived on time as specified when ordering, able to assemble, bolted to the car and get bikes loaded inside an hour which endorses the videos and instructions which made it look easy. Needed an extender bike bar for the wife’s bike but these are cheap and available anywhere, i.e. [retail corporation]. Seems to be a very solid rack with no rattles on the test run. Fully recommend for ease of install and use.

Solid and well designed product. Couldn’t be happier with Etrailer and RhinoRack . Already have a roof rack from Rhino so this is my second item from them. Love the convenience of handles/levers on my bike rack - beats using pins!

This rack is sturdy and was easy to install. I worried the levers might be hard to push, but it can easily be done with one hand. Loading and unloading 2 adult mountain bikes was a bit tricky at first (i had to try several positions for a snug fit). A great price for what I was looking for!

Rack was backordered, but shipped when etrailer indicated it would be available, kept me informed, always love doing business with etrailer. Easy install, heavy duty bike rack, wife really likes the "fold back" option. Allows the bike rack to stay on the hitch and keeps the rear hatch useful.

I just received the 2-bike Rhino Rack for use with a 2016 Tacoma, It was easy to assemble and all the accessories for assembly were enclosed. I purchased this rack because it looked like it was very solid and well built. I think this is a very good bike rack. Please note that the Tacoma tail gate will open when the rack is angled down.

Comments
After one year its still a good rack that recently Ive been using almost every day. Also it tightens down so that there is virtually no side to side swaying movement.

by:

Nice rack for the price. Well made. The anti rattle aspect is a gimmick. If it has a bike on it, it won’t rattle. If no bike, take the rack off. Are you that guy who leaves it on all year? Arms out no less? Just give me a regular 5/8 hitch pin instead of a need for tools. The thieves will steal the more expensive ones anyway. Time to drill it out to my needs.

- RRRBC045
by:

Superior rack compared to competitors I have owned. Over all design well thought out, nice to have regulation 2" insert without adapter. Well built with high quality steel. However, the designers did not take into consideration security which is very important for urban areas. One of my racks was stolen off my car with similar install. I have a key hitch pin which fits my Curt hitch but I cannot use it with the Rhino rack. The current hitch bolt should at the very least be threaded all the way through and nutted along with the cotter pin. As shipped it will rattle and cause wear on the hitch, I am taking into consideration quick removal. I like the rack so much I am going to modify the insert myself to enable me to use the key lock hitch pin. I would prefer that an option be created for future purchasers.

- RRRBC045
by:

Rack arrived earlier than expected. Easy to assemble. Love the easy drop down levers.

- RRRBC045
by:

the Rhino Bike Rack is easy to load and it is easy to adjust so that you can get into the back of your vehicle. The Rhino Bike Rack, however, seems somewhat "loose" on my vehicle and wiggles back and forth either without hauling a bike or when hauling a bike on the back of the car.

Comments
The movement you describe is very common. Its caused by the differences in the manufacturing tolerances between the inside dimension of the hitch receiver and the outside dimension of the hitch mounted accessory, which is a bike rack in this case. The inside dimension of the hitch receiver is a bit larger than 2 inches, while the outside dimension of the bike racks shank is a bit less than that. If they were the same exact size, they wouldnt fit together. An anti rattle device like the # 63232
Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - 3-1/2" Span
$38.99
would deter theft, as well as tightening up that connection.

Product delivered on time. Well packaged to protect from shippers. Nice finish and all parts sealed in bags. Easy instructions for installation. Bike carrier far superior construction than I found with comparable Thule and Yakima. Also price was main consideration for choosing this bike carrier.

Still works as good as when first bought 1 yr ago. Lots of traveling over salted roads snow country and I have not seen any evidence of rust, etc. Would buy this product again but this should last for many years.
