Rotating Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Kuat Transfer V2 ratcheting hooks

The Transfer V2 has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying carbon bikes or bikes with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Front-Wheel Cradles with Adjustable Pitch

Kuat Transfer V2 front wheel cradles

In its upright position the front cradles sit at the optimal position for holding normal-size bikes. However, you can adjust the cradles so that smaller bikes sit more toward the center of the rack or to prevent bikes from bumping into each other. To adjust the pitch, use the included Allen key to flip the bolt locator tabs upside down.

Pivoting Rear-Wheel Cradles

Kuat Transfer V2 rear wheel cradle

The rear wheel cradles accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. They pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to each bike's wheelbase - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the built-in ratcheting strap. Strap extenders (sold separately) let you carry fat bikes.

U-Shape Frame

Kuat Transfer V2 U-shape base

Most platform-style racks force you to reach out and over the rack to load your bikes or walk around to the back of the rack to access the bike closest to your vehicle. The U-shaped frame allows you to walk inside the rack and get close to your bikes to lift them. Also, it won't block your backup camera when it's folded up.

Foot Lever for Easy Tilting and Folding

Kuat Transfer V2 foot lever

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through your bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

Kuat Transfer V2 tilting rackKuat Transfer V2 folding rack

The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.

Easy Installation

Kuat Transfer V2 complete security

The rack is easy to install. Just slide the shank into your hitch and use the included 8-mm Allen wrench to tighten the flatlock cam. An anti-rattle wedge is deployed inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Kuat Transfer V2 indentation

The Allen wrench has an indentation, so it can only be used with the Transfer. This helps keep the rack secure on your vehicle. You'll need to store it in a safe place because you'll need it when you want to remove the rack. You can also use a locking hitch pin (sold separately) for extra rack security.

Kuat Transfer V2 integrated cable lock

The Transfer also includes a cable lock that secures your bikes to the rack. The 1/4" thick, braided steel cable threads through your bike's frames, and locks back into the rack.

We love this bike rack. We bought a couple ebikes and needed something we could use behind our travel trailer when camping and the truck when we just want to drive to some trails. When we were looki g, many can't be used behind travel trailers. We absolutely love the way its built - its sturdy, high quality, pretty easy to put together - good instructions. Love the tilting feature - use one foot - very easy. Love that it comes with the cable lock for the bikes, It is very adjustable for a wide range of bikes. We have step throughs. We did buy a hitch lock for extra security. We would recommend this rack to anyone.

This bike rack is great. Two things: it folds up to a pretty slim profile and it’s well made. That said I had trouble getting the first front wheel holder to go on. The inside and outside holes in the frame were not aligned so you couldn’t get the bolt to pass through so I ended up enlarging the outside hole enough to allow the bolt to go through straight and the rest was painless! Another nice point are the tools: they’re actually good enough to keep! This is my second Kuat bike rack and they really handle bikes well. The tilt works great, too. Overall, it’s great pick!

Rock steady! I go and check to be sure fasteners are still tight and I lube the moving parts with a light machine oil. All is well! Oh, the first rack is still going strong even without TLC.

This review is after a year. Overall this is a good bike rack.
Pros:
-price is fair
-Ease of use
-Bikes remain secure in transit.

Cons.
-Some parts are made of plastic that would be better as aluminum.
-The locking cord is annoying. One time in transit, it got wrapped around the derailleur. On moving the bikes down to open the hatch, the derailleur was damaged when the cord pulled on it, so I needed a new one. I’m not sure why Kuat would not choose to put the lock on the hook that secures the bicycle tire. That would eliminate the need for an annoying cable.
-It would be nice to have a torque wrench included so you are confident you are not over tightening the hex bolt that attaches the rack to the car. You are warned not to over-tighten, so you are left wondering.
-When the rack is pivoted down, Honda CRV 2020 hatchback cannot clear the handlebars on my mountain bike. It is possible to access storage, but the trunk cannot fully open.

Overalll, the low cost and overall quality and ease of use make this a good choice. Some minor tweaks to the design would make this a stellar product. Be carful how you use the cord.

The product is great in the beginning. But over time, the spring at the lower end shank is not working and I am having to manually pull and push the gear into the socket when I lower or higher the rack. This is a pain for now but not sure if it will turn into a safety issue.

I am sorry as I do not have a solution that I can offer however I can have Kuat reach out to you.

After the previous spring situation, rack also suffered an immature bolt tightening plate breakage even without regular usage. But, Thanks to Kuat for standing behind their product by sending in a replacement part.

@Srinivas We're sorry that happened, but we're glad to hear that Kuat took good care of you!

by:

The quality of the engineering of every single part of the bike rack was perfect. Every part fit together perfectly. No wiggling or forcing things together.I’m 78 years old. It took me about 30 minutes to put it together. Easy to use and to load the bikes.

Daniel

8/17/2023

Were still loving our Kuat V2 bike rack after a year of use. Easy to load the bikes, love the way it folds up while in the hitch. Keeps it out of the way when we park. The best ever!Holds the bikes perfectly.

by:

I really like this bike rack. It was easy to assemble for the most part.
The price was reasonable. It is easy to put on and take off.
The bikes are very stable when fastened correctly.
I would recommend it to anybody with a non E bike type of bicycle.
We no longer have to put our bikes in the rear of our suv.

by:

This rack works great! I wish i would have bought it five years ago! Although it is the cheapest of the kuat racks it does everything I need. I considered other racks that didn’t tilt and it is worth the higher cost to go with a tilting rack to get into the back of the SUV. The U shape of the rack is also great ergonomically loading the bikes so there is no bending or stretching to load the first bike. I highly recommend this bike rack it will make your life easier!

by:

Super easy to put together, all tools included, nice burlap sack to store tools in glove box or at home, functions as expected, bike secure at 80mph with high winds, nice and light to put on and remove if necessary. Wish it tilted one more notch/down to the ground as the tailgate of my trail boss will not open all the way. Not a show stopper, but it would be nice to still have bikes secured on the rack while I overland in the back.

by:

I have been using this hitch for both our E bikes for the last year and love it. It is each to use and really secures the bikes in. Also has a built-in lock. Just took them to Bozeman Montana from Minnesota and it worked great for the long haul.

by:

Love this hitch. Was easy to put together and it is easy to use. Our bikes ride solid and steady. Switched it from the car to the 5th wheel camper for our trip. It fit perfectly and bikes traveled the same with no issues. The price was great for this unit, arrived promptly and in good shape. Will definiy purchase from etrailer again

by:

Bike rack works perfectly and has lots of handy features - pivoting arm so you can open your trunk with the bikes on, cable lock embedded in the rack, adjustable cradles etc. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the instructions weren't completely clear. I had to reach out to Kuat support because I thought the cradles I was sent didn't line up with the bolt holes. It turns out I was trying to rotate the cradles outside of the rack body, but you can only turn them when they are mounted on the rack arms. I let them know they should improve that aspect of the user manual

by:

This is the second Transfer rack I have purchased. I converted the first one to a single place rack for on my Miata. This one was for my son's car. Easy to assemble, very easy to use and secure. I only wish Kuat would make a single tray Sherpa rack! (aluminum, it's lighter)

by:

I've just installed my Kuat Transfer V2 and the fact I can easily access the back of my Dodge Caravan with the goal post design, which I think very clever is awesome. The cam lever when tightened with the special allen wrench makes for a very solid fit into the receiver hitch of my van. It looks and feels solid and is easy to use.

Tom E.

I love it! Its easy to use and built very solid.

by:

I recently got a step through bike (my previous bike had a bar, but it was getting more and more difficult to get on and off it, due to back issues). This bike rack works great with the step through bike, and is very easy to get bike on and off by myself...and it seems very sturdy!

by:

Love this bike rack. Easy to use and very secure.

by:

After a year of ownership, I still love this Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack (for 2" Hitches).
My experience with etrailer has also been very favorable as with all my interactions with etrailer.

by:

I saw this bike carrier on another riders car. They are very pleased. I liked the features and quality of engineering design and materials. I found it a bit challenging to assemble. You really have to study the drawings to get every detail, because they use very view words. Once I understudy each step, it seemed easy. My Subaru camera gives a constant warning alarm when in reverse, but I can see past the carrier reasonably well.

by:

Etrailer made ordering easy. My bike rack came in within a few days of ordering and assembly was a breeze. Kuat packages things up very nicely and includes good quality hardware and tools for assembly.

by:

The Transfer V2 bike rack is not perfect for every bike. I have front shocks and brakes that are right where the arm comes down to put holding pressure on the front tire, making it not a snug secure fit. I plan to place a folded hand towel across that area and apply the pressure on the towel to protect the brakes and shock structure. Problem solved. It should work fine. I like the three points of contact that hold the bike securely in place. The system to tighten the hitch from moving says not to apply more than 18.5 lbs of torque. I have a tendency to over tighten things, so I'll have to be careful with that.

by:

This product is very well made. Installation out of the box is easy. Install in to the trailer hitch goes in smoothly and is very secure, a tool is provided to firm up the rack so there is no movement and remains solid during transport. Bike mounting is so easy and secure the bike never moves in transportation. Best product on the market.

by:

I just built and installed my rack yesterday and I absolutely love it. I drove with it on today (no bikes), amazed that there was no rattle. Tomorrow I do plan to carry a bike to see how that feels. The quality of the product exceeded my expectations! Great value for the price and if this is Kuats Entry Level model, it is worth every penny!

by:

I like the rack. I only use it for fat bikes. I wish the straps were longer. The fat bike extension straps are functional, but defiantly an after though.

by:

Arrived in good time. Well packaged. Looks sturdy, assembled easily w/ all tools included. Have not used it yet but, it's just what was expected so far.

Unlike other trips with my old rack, when we reached our destination, I was pleasantly surprised that bikes were in the exact same position as when we started! Love the simplicity of loading and unloading

  • Hitch Bike Rack Similar to Thule T2 for Rear of Camper Trailer
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. Thule does not recommend the use of their racks at the back of...

The Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU84FR would be a great solution to carry your two Pace 500.2 e-bikes. This rack uses a wheel mount setup so your frame would not be affected in any way. The wheel mount may not have a lot of padding but you don't have to run it all the way against the forks so it wouldn't contact at all. Also I confirmed that this rack has the weight capacity needed for your bikes and this rack is also travel trailer approved so it would work out great in that regard as well.
