Getting 60-plus-pound e-bikes onto a rack can be a struggle, but the Piston Pro X makes it simple. The ratcheting arms deploy automatically with a tap of the lever, powered by hydro-pneumatic struts that open smooth and steady every time. Kashima-coated pistons keep friction low so the motion stays controlled even after dirt and road grime build up. Just tap the levers, set the bikes down, and rotate the arms into place—no wrestling or heavy lifting.
This rack holds bikes by the wheels instead of the frame, so fancy paint and carbon tubes stay untouched. Each U-shaped arm has a labeled bridge for common tire sizes—20", 24", 26", 27.5", and 29"—that locks in without tools. The grooved trays let you position the bikes front-to-back to avoid handlebar clashes and fit everything from narrow 18c road tires to 5" fat tires with ease.
When you need to reach the cargo area mid-trip, the Piston Pro X tilts down even with both bikes loaded. A spring-loaded hand-and-foot pedal sits right where you can reach it—no crawling between frames to release it. When it’s time to park, fold the rack up to keep it compact and out of the way.
Built-in LED lighting syncs directly with your vehicle through a 4-way flat plug, adding extra brake, turn, and running lights right on the rack. They’re visible whether bikes are loaded or not, boosting visibility for anyone following behind.
The Flatlock cam system tightens inside the hitch to stop rattle and sway, keeping the ride quiet. A keyed-alike hitch lock and braided 12-mm cable lock secure both the rack and bikes so everything stays put. I looked most of the no touch racks. Most of the other racks needed two hands to release them from the tire and kuat didn’t. The rack is built very well and would think it would last a lifetime. Even though this one is one of the higher priced racks I’m not disappointed in the build quality

It seems to be very well built. Little heavier than I thought and instructions pretty confusing.
etrailer was very easy to work with and answered all my questions quickly. etrailer knew the answers to my questions about the Kuat Bike Rack but oddly the person at Kuat did not. The boxes arrived in perfect condition.
Only rack we found that could carry our heavy ebikes. Love the locking mechanism!! Even works with our fenders. Wish it had place to mount license plate.

I’ve had several bike racks over the years, but none have been easier to assemble. The quality of the materials used to make this rack are very high by my standards. Not a cheap rack by any means, but I’m a firm believer in “you get what you pay for”.

After a year I’m still floored by the quality, and ease of use. Had a pinched wire for the tail lights, and Kuat sent out a replacement set of wires no questions asked for free. To notch company!
It's really a beautiful bike rack, and the lights work great. However, it blocks my car's back-up camera, regardless whether I keep it in up or down position. And to open my car's hatch, rack must be in down position. Things to keep in mind.
Kuat Piston Pro X bike rack so far exceeds expectations on 2023 Tesla Model Y! Fabulous wellbuilt, solid platform 2 bike hitch rack w tilt & locks. Thrilled on all accounts: excellently presented product info, easy to follow lit & videos for installation & convenient access to customer service. Delivered in 3 days. Quick install. Just needed to pick up 4 flat to 7 way adaptor for hooking up electrical lights in stock at [online]. Lights awesome unique feature! Visibility from rear camera good. Contrary to video & booklet instructions may be best to insert hitch pin through holes in hitch receiver and piston shank as 1st step. Was more difficult doing this as one of the last steps. Also would be good to know about how to acquire extra set of keys. Glad to have piece of mind of bikes being tight & secure.
Best bike rack I have ever owned (and I have owned several really good bike racks). It is a substantial rack and well made. If there is any downside, it is the price, but quality shows and their customer service is second-to-none. The arms capture the wheels very well, but might take some getting used to. The flatlock system and the rear LED lights are innovative and add value to the rack.

I love this bike rack.
Very sturdy and has worked out well. However, I wouldn't trust the bikes free-standing on the racks without a strong strap/bungee. Carried an e-bike to Alaska and back, over some pretty rough roads, and had no problem as long as the strap was on. If you're not handy, have a bike shop put it together for you. Getting everything tightly bolted matters.
This is the coolest bike rack ever. I bought it with the swing out arm, also from Kuat so I could gain access to the stored items in the back of the Jeep. It worked out great! It even has led lights which help since I use a bike cover which obscures the Jeeps tailights.
