What Hitch Pin Lock Works With The Benton Bike Rack B54VR

Updated 03/24/2025 | Published 02/18/2025

Question:

Hey there, what is the best way to lock the rack while the car is parked to prevent someone from stealing it? Is there a specific hitch pin lock for this bike rack? It appears to have a D shaped shank hole.

Hello Lou, thanks for reaching out. The hitch pin you are looking for is the etrailer D-Shape Anti-Rattle Locking Hitch Pin for Benton Hitch Accessories # e43JR.

This will work with the Benton # B54VR bike rack you mentioned, as well as the # B54FR, # B82FR and # B94FR so that it can't be easily stolen off of your vehicle's receiver.

Is there an option like this that locks but without having to thread on a nut every time? Looking for a way to prevent theft but make it easier to take on and off vehicle since can’t leave it in all the time and still close garage door.

@ChrisS Sadly, there is not. The # e43JR lock I mentioned above is the only one available for this Benton rack currently. The threaded nut helps to reduce any rattle or play. I know its not the most convenient thing ever, but if I were you I would just keep an extra wrench in the car.
