Removable 2-Bike Add-On

Thule T2 Pro X ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR carries 4 bikes, however the front 2 positions can be easily removed so there's less of a load on you and your vehicle if only 2 people are going riding. When it's not needed, simply remove the front section with the included Allen key and throw it in your trunk or leave it at home. To convert the rack to carry 2 bikes, simply remove the handle from the bike rack base, remove the add-on, then reinstall the handle.

Pivoting Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

Ratcheting hooks grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel, so it won't scratch or scuff the paint. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To unload your bike, press the gray button on the upright arm to release the ratcheting hook, and slide the hook up.

Sliding Rear Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro XTR sliding wheel trays

The wheel trays have cradles with ratcheting straps to secure your rear wheel to the rack. The cradles slide along the tray to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Front-Mounted Handle for Easy Tilting and Folding

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting designThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack tilts down with your bikes loaded. So, whether you're at the trail or the grocery store, you don't have to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting design

To make tilting and folding easier, the T2 Pro XTR's release lever is mounted on the front of the rack. This means you won't have to reach through or around your bikes with one hand to reach the lever, while supporting the rack's weight with the other, when lowering the rack. Instead, you'll be able to hold the rack with both hands the entire time.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Thule T2 Pro XTR cable locksThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack quickly installs in your hitch receiver, without the need for tools. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. Turning the knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. It also sets the integrated SnugTite hitch pin into place, securing the rack to your receiver.

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR has built-in wheels that let you easily roll the rack so you don't have to lift it and carry it to your vehicle.

Complete Security

Thule Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The T2 Pro XTR includes One-Key System locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Integrated cable locks thread around your bikes' frames and insert into the lock that slides along the cable. The cables store inside the arms when not in use.

Thule T2 Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it. The locks are keyed alike, so you only need to use 1 key. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all your Thule products keyed alike.

Fast delivery and great product! I would recommend that you look up videos on how to assemble. The instructions that come with it are basically useless. With the help of a friend assembly was easy. So far the rack has worked perfectly. It is large and heavy so it could require two people to put in on and take it off of the tow hitch. All in all I am very satisfied!

I give this 3 stars and most of that is for Thule customer service. After a several uses and a few long trips of 450 miles I would have rated this rack five stars. Then the unthinkable happened! Driving at 70 mph the rack unattached from my truck. Miraculously the $8,000 worth of bikes I was carrying came out basically unscathed. The way this rack attaches to the hitch is suspect at best. There is not a bolt through connection. It attaches by an expander at the end of the rack that slides into the hitch and then a weak pin that slides into the normal bolt hole. This pin is controlled by a very weak spring. Somehow the expander and the pin failed at their job. Thule engineers should revisit this attachment method. I contacted Thule, sent them some requested info and photos. They were very sympathetic and understood my concern and grief. They said this kind of failure was rare and they told me this is not the first time something like this has happened with this rack. They were very apologetic and issued me a full refund for the price of the rack. I would give Thule 5 stars for customer service and the bike rack a zero. I will never by another rack without a bolt through connection.

by:

one problem that i wasn't aware of when i ordered...i will need to get the trim around my hitch receiver cut out wider on my 2024 Subaru Outback for me to be able to use this on my car...the special pin on the side needs to open out wide and my hitch receiver is in line with the bottom trim of my back bumper without room to open the pin out--on our truck the hitch sits below the bumper.

by:

Excellent rack for the entire family. Changing from 2-bikes to 4-bikes requires some unbolting. Not quite a quick modular changeover but definitely not permanent either.

by:

Sturdy. Easy to put together. Second Thule rack and I trust it will secure my bikes.

by:

Vast improvement over the old Thule rack. The instructions could have been a little clearer for installing the locks. Better and clearer pictures needed. I’m happy to see lock tight is on the screws. I love the tilt and the built in Wheels that allow me to move the rack without picking it up and carrying it.

Great product. The instructions are picture only. I had to visit the University of YouTube to understand how to use the hitch lock. If the instructions had been written this would be five stars.

This bike rack is awesome. Our two e-mountain bikes fit perfectly on the rack. We have taken them on long road trips with no issues. Great bike rack.

Both the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # TH69TX and Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y02443-2 are only able to carry bikes with 20"-29" wheels. You should consider the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y75AR which will hold bikes with a 16"-29" wheel. You will also be able to key it in common with your current Yakima keys. If you can tell me what key number you currently have I can help you find the keyed alike cores you will be able to put on the bike rack. A great...

The suitability of the racks you mentioned will depend on a few different factors. • The weight of the bikes • Do the bikes have fenders? • Do the bikes have fat tires? The Saris SuperClamp EX 4, part # SA4026F can accommodate 4 bikes. The capacity for the 2 inner most bikes is 60 lbs each, and the capacity for the 2 outermost bikes is 35 lbs each. The rack can accommodate bikes with tires up to 4-1/2 inches wide right out of the box, or if the # SA4419 fat tire adapters are added, it'll...

  • Hitch Mounted 4-Bike Rack That is Rated for Use on Motorhome
The Yakima SwingDaddy, along with other bike racks that are not rated for use behind motorhomes or trailers, are rated that way by the manufacturers due to the more pronounced and heavier back-and-forth and up-and-down movement that occurs on a motorhome as opposed to a passenger car. This movement creates more stress on the bike rack and manufacturers have deemed these racks unsuitable for this type of extreme movement. What I recommend instead are the Thule Apex Swing XT # TH9027XT,...

You are correct, bikes that have fenders would not fit well on the Thule T2, # TH83JV or the # TH69TX. . Since you have such heavy bikes I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE, # HLY84FR, which has a 80 pound per bike capacity. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2024 Subaru Forester Carrying 4 Bike Thule T2 Bike Rack
Hey Danny, so the Thule T2 XTR bike rack part # TH69TX weighs 96 lbs (lets just call it 100) and then it has a 160 lb weight capacity so at most it would weigh 260 lbs. So since basically all 2 inch hitches have at least a 350 lb tongue weight capacity you wouldn't need to get too worried about that aspect of the hitch. For that I really like the Curt hitch part # C47HR for 2024 Subaru Forester as it has the needed capacity and also has a mostly hidden appearance since only the hitch...

We do offer a few 4 bike capacity platform style racks that would tilt away from the vehicle for access to the cargo area, like the Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH69TX or the Kuat NV 2.0 part # NV22G-NA22G. • Are Replacement Locking Knobs Available For The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack
Hi Joh, Unfortunately the locking knob on the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # TH69TX isn't replaceable part. It's built into the base/shank in a way that the entire base/shank would have to be replaced as well, essentially making the bike rack as a whole trash. That being said, you can still use the rack, but wouldn't be able to tighten it in the hitch so it would unfortunately rattle. This apparently has been a big issue for other owners of this rack and I've read that Thule...
