The threaded bolt is a bad idea. The parties worked great other than the bolt foy stuck and I had to cut and drill the bolt out. Etrailer did send me a replacement part. 553698

This receiver extension is perfect for my need. Recently purchased new E-Bikes and new bike rack. My installation excitement fell when the rack contacted the spare tire of our Jeep while raising to folded position and couldn't latch. Found the right size and placed the order. "George" responded quickly to say the order was shipping that day! Then it was delivered one full day earlier than promised. Extremely happy with the fit and quality and the Anti Rattle pin is great. Thank you, 477219

Thanks for the reply Mark C. I did want to let you know that using hitch extenders like this one will reduce the hitchs overall capacity by 50 percent. This is something to keep in mind especially considering your new e-bike. Please make sure that the hitch, bike rack and all other components are not exceeding the reduced tongue weight when using the hitch extender.

Bought this extension for use on my front Curt receiver hitch on my 2010 Ford Raptor (hitch is under the bumper). I looked at a few extensions in person before settling on this one. I figured if I really needed to use it with my winch, I didn't want to skimp on the extension. Recently I did have to use my winch and am glad I bought this unit. This extension is extremely heavy duty and worth the money if you need a heavy duty extension. 805575

Pros: Works great for side-to-side stabilization. If you want more security the hole in the bolt is large enough to put a small lock thru. For up/down stabilization I added the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and now all directions are very stable. Cons: Corner fillets in the receiver section are larger than other extenders or receivers so it may be a tighter fit than you are expecting. 600695

  • How to Prevent Trailer Coupler from Hitting Spare Tire on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler
If by trailer lock you are referring to the trailer coupler then I do have an option for you that will not require a lift kit or for you to remove the spare tire on your Jeep. For this, you are going to want to use a ball mount with an extended shank. We have a few options for this but will be dependent on the amount of rise/drop you need to keep the trailer level. I have attached a help article that will explain this. If it turns out that you need either a 3/4" rise or 2" drop then I recommend...

  • Can Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender be Used for Towing Travel Trailer
If you are needing to extend the gap between your tow vehicle and trailer, the Roadmaster Anti-Rattle hitch Extender # RM-071-1075 referenced in your question will provide a great solution. This is compatible with any 2 inch hitch receiver and will move the receiver opening 7-3/4 inches out from your trailer hitch. Please note that the use of this or any similar hitch adapter is going to reduce the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50%. For example, if the trailer hitch...

  • Recommendation for 4 inch Hitch Extender to Pull 8,000 Pound Trailer
We do have a large selection of hitch extenders that will allow for the needed clearance between your tailgate and jack. The shortest extender we have available for 2 inch receivers that has the required capacity for your 8,000 pound trailer is the Roadmaster # RM-071-1075. This extender measures 7-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole on truck's hitch to the center of the hitch pin hole on the adapter. It has a 10,000 pound towing weight capacity. The Roadmaster Htich Extender # RM-071-1075 measures approximately 3 inches deep from the pin hole to the furthest point inside the receiver tube. It's also only designed to be used to flat tow a vehicle with a hitch style tow bar. It can't be used with a ball mount. The Curt Hitch Extender # C45791 has the same measurement of 3 inches and can be used for towing a trailer; however, it has a much lower weight capacity at 3,500 pounds. • Can Roadmaster Hitch Extender be Used for Towing a Trailer or Bike Racks
You can use hitch extender # RM-071-1075 for things other than flat towing a vehicle. It will fit any 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. Provided the weight of the items used in the extender are under the reduced tongue weight capacity of the hitch you will be good to go.

  • Hitch Extender for a Jeep Wrangler and Cargo Carrier to Clear Spare Tire
We have a lot of hitch extenders, see link, but keep in mind that when you use a hitch extender it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. So for example if the tongue weight capacity of your hitch is 350 pounds and you use an extender that capacity drops to 175 pounds. That means the combined weight of the cargo carrier and cargo cannot exceed 175 pounds in this scenario. Another option is to multipurpose ball mount # D210. Since this is a ball mount...

  • Recommendation for Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device for Roadmaster Hitch Extender
The Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075 comes with the threaded bolt and pin. This threaded hitch bolt does indeed reduce noise and movement inside the hitch receiver, providing a more secure and quiet connection. However, there is not a locking hitch pin available that is compatible with the threaded hitch pin hole on this extender. A thief would need to have the correct wrench to remove it. • How to Extend Hitch Connection Between Trailer and Truck to Allow Tailgate to be Fully Lowered
I have a solution for you, but the Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7-3/4" Extension, # RM-071-1075, is designed to be used in flat towing applications. When flat towing a vehicle behind an motorhome there is less tongue weight on the hitch than when you are towing a trailer. That's why the Roadmaster hitch extender has a low tongue weight rating and should not be used in trailer applications. I recommend using a ball mount with a longer shank, like...

  • Longer Adjustable Ball Mount Recommendation for Better Jack/Tailgate Clearance
The issue with hitch extenders is that they end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent due to the extra length and movement in the hitch. So with that in mind there isn't a hitch extender we can offer that will give you the length you need and not cause issues with weight capacity. • Recommendation to Gain Clearance for Tailgate with Weight Distribution System Installed
Using a hitch extender like you mentioned will give you the needed clearance but it will also reduce the weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent. This is because of the extra play/movement and instability that adding another component causes. This along with their lower base ratings to begin with (as you mentioned) means that your best option is to just use a longer adjustable shank for your weight distribution system. If you are looking for a 2" receiver to 2" receiver extender rated for at least 5,000 lbs we have the Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075. • Is There a Way to Increase Distance Between Hitch and Trailer for Tailgate Clearance
Since hitch extenders cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent a better solution would be a longer ball mount like the # 80232 which is 15-3/4 inches from pin hole to ball hole and would most likely give you the extra clearance you'd need to be able to lower your tailgate when towing and not hit the trailer jack.
