great

This hitch extender will allow us to carry our bikes on the back of our RV. The bike rack was too short to fit outside of the step. This extender takes care of the problem nicely. We were so happy to find the extender!

by:

We are extremely pleased with the customer service received by etrailer, we searched all local area businesses for our hitch extender to add that extra few inches to allow us to tow our boat behind our truck camper and found there was no businesses that carried it locally. We received our product in a timely manner and packaged well.

PURSHASE TOW BAR BASE PLATES, LIGHTING AND TOW BAR EXTENTION FROM ETRAILER. RECEIVED FAST AND THEY WORK GREAT .

by:

It is what it is... makes it to where you can actually pull something that doesn't have a 5ft tounge on it with your ranger/sXs but it does fit lose in the receiver so if you want a tight fit a little modifying is in order i.e put a few weld beads on it and grind smooth

by:

Great receiver extension for the price. It enabled us to install a bicycle rack behind the spare tire rack on the back of our Jeep Wrangler JK.

by:

I bought this extension so I could use my tailgate feeder on my polaris ranger. This worked perfectly. Shipping was fast and I did not have any problems at all.

by:

This is exactly what I needed for our class C motorhome. Brings the length out and solved my clearance issue.

by:

As always, etrailer comes thru with excellent service and product delivery. Thanks etrailer!

by:

It’s what I was looking for, but I would have liked for it to include a pin.

by:

Holes line up but the extension fit is a bit too loose. Welds seem solid.

by:

Well made and fast shipping. 4 stars

  • Roadmaster Hitch Extension Availability for Roadmaster Flat Towing Setup
That's going to depend on how much extension you'd need. From Roadmaster we have the part # RM-071 which is 11 inches or the part # RM-071-75 which is 7-3/4 inches long. If you needed something different let me know and I can see what we have that might work.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Extender for Truck Bed Camper and Boat Trailer Combination
The Roadmaster Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 11" Extension # RM-071 is the only extension we have to fit your combination as it stands. The only other option you have for that trailer weight is to get a Torklift hitch and a SuperTruss Extension that would be longer but also stronger. They are really well made, and will cost you some money, but would definitely be the best option for your application. If you let me know the year/make/model of truck, I'll be happy to further...

  • Hitch Extender Recommendation for Use with Tow Bar and AutoStop Braking System
The Roadmaster hitch extender part # RM-071 is designed for flat towing applications and would work well for you to get an additional 11 inches from your tow bar setup so that you can make tighter turns. Let me know if you need something different though and with more info I can see what your best option would be.

  • Why Does the Roadmaster Hitch Extender Part # RM-071 Only Have a 100 Lb Tongue Weight Capacity
The Roadmaster Hitch Extender part # RM-071 is designed specifically for flat towing. A toad vehicle will not have much of a tongue weigh at all which is why this adapter is only rated for 100 lbs tongue weight (TW) and 6,000 lbs gross trailer weight (GTW). I have attached a review video on the extender for you as well.

When installing The Roadmaster Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2 inch Hitches - 7-3/4 inch Extension # RM-071-75 I recommend The Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2 inch Hitches - 3-1/2 inch Span # 63232. This lock fits a 2 inch hitch and has a pin diameter of 5/8 inches. This pin reduces play and vibration in the hitch connection. I attached a review video link below.

  • Recommended Hitch Extender to Improve Turning Radius when Flat Towing
Hitch extenders, like the Roadmaster Trailer Hitch Receiver Extension, # RM-071-75, which you referenced are designed for when you have problems clearing your vehicle's bumper or spare tire when you flat tow. For example if you hear your hitch accessories hit your car, you need a hitch extender. Yes, a hitch extender will help with the turning radius, so the longer the extension the more help you will get. However, your first consideration when choosing an extender should be choosing...

  • How Much Weight will the Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075 Support?
The Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7-3/4" # RM-071-1075 has a maximum tongue weight of 400 pounds. The tongue weight is the downward force that the trailer exerts on the hitch. If you are looking for the gross trailer tow weight of the extender, that is 10,000 pounds. The gross towing weight is the amount of weight that pulls horizontally on the extender. This extender is your best choice because any extender we carry that is longer than 7-3/4 inches greatly...

  • Can Roadmaster Hitch Extender be Used for Towing a Trailer or Bike Racks
You can use hitch extender # RM-071-1075 for things other than flat towing a vehicle. It will fit any 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. However, the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent when using an extender. Provided the weight of the items used in the extender are under the reduced tongue weight capacity of the hitch you will be good to go.

  • Recommended Hitch Extender for Towing with a 2008 Range Rover
Since hitch extenders like the 11" Roadmaster # RM-071 you show in your pictures reduces the weight rating of the hitch by 50% we typically recommend avoiding them as a solution. For your application we have ball mounts with extended shanks that don't reduce the weight capacity of your hitch and that's what I recommend going with. For a long ball mount we have the Brophy Ball Mount # BM20 which has a 3/4" rise/2" drop and measures 13-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to center...

The Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, part # RM-048-8, will extend the truck further away from the RV, but it will also change the height of your tow bar connection. It has a 8 inch rise or drop which will either raise or lower the tow bar connection of your pickup to the RV. If you have a level connection now you will not want to use the # RM-048-8 to extend your vehicle away from the RV. The end of the tow bar that attaches to the base plates on the vehicle should not exceed a rise...

  • Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender Recommendation for Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier
Since Roadmaster recommend you use the Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075 with the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195225 this would be a great option to extend it out that we know the manufacturers has determined is effective and safe. • Recommended Trailer Hitch Extender for Class V Hitch
Hitch extenders are not rated based on Class III, IV, or V. The use of a hitch extension in most cases will reduce the tongue weight of your hitch by 50%. There is not a 10 inch option, but there are many similar sizes that may work for your application. For instance, the Roadmaster Hitch Extender for Tow Bars--11 inches # RM-071 has a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs but only a tongue weight rating of 100 lbs. It is designed to be used for flat towing. • Can I Use A Ball Mount Extension With A Flat Tow Setup
In order to extend your ball mount out 8-10" from the hitch receiver, you will want the Roadmaster Hitch Extender for Tow Bars part # RM-071. The hitch is rated for use with a max gross trailer weight of 6,000 lbs and a max tongue weight rating of 100 lbs which is more than enough to flat tow your Jeep. To secure the hitch extension to your hitch, you may want to consider the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # e98882. I have attached a product review of both items for your viewing.

  • Using Hitch Extender on 2012 Jeep Wrangler so Cargo Carrier Clears Spare Tire
The particular extender you referenced, part # RM-071 is designed for a rolling load, like flat towing a vehicle behind a motorhome. It is not intended for use with a hitch-mounted accessory like a cargo carrier. An extender like part # C45795 that offers 14 inches of extension would be a better choice. Using any hitch extender will lower the tongue weight capacity (the maximum amount of weight that can safely be suspended from the hitch) by 50 percent. All of the 2 inch receiver hitches...

  • Why is Tongue Weight of Roadmaster Hitch Extender # RM-071 100 lbs
The Roadmaster Hitch Extender part # RM-071 that you referenced is designed to be used only in flat towing situations where there wouldn't be hardly any tongue weight. This is due to the fact that the vehicle being towed has all 4 wheels on the ground unlike a trailer that only has one axle. It's not rated for trailer use, but it can be used when flat towing a vehicle up to 6,000 lbs. Even our most heavy duty hitch extenders like the Torklift Super Truss part # TLE1521 have lower capacities...

Some extenders are only designed to be used to flat tow a vehicle and not to hold any tongue weight so make sure you choose an extender that is designed for carrying accessories since you're going to use it for a bike rack. Part # C45795 is a great 14 inch option. 37 inch tires are normally 12 or...

  • Recommendation For Hitch Extender or Longer Ball Mount To Tow Trailer With Dodge Ram 3500
I would recommend to use a longer ball mount instead of a hitch extender. When using a hitch extender the tongue weight capacity is reduced by 50 percent, so a hitch that has a 600-lb tongue weight capacity will be reduced to 300 lbs. If you have a 2 inch hitch on your Dodge 3500 truck and use a longer ball mount like the Brophy Ball Mount, part # BJ20, it will not reduce the tongue weight capacity and it measures 13-1/4 inches from the center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch ball...

  • Recommendation for Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device for Roadmaster Hitch Extender
The Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender # RM-071-1075 comes with the threaded bolt and pin. This threaded hitch bolt does indeed reduce noise and movement inside the hitch receiver, providing a more secure and quiet connection. However, there is not a locking hitch pin available that is compatible with the threaded hitch pin hole on this extender. A thief would need to have the correct wrench to remove it.
