Video Transcript for Curt Dual 2 Inch Receiver Tube Adapter Review

Today we'll be take a look at the CURT dual 2" receiver tube adapter 8" extension, part number D-192. Our dual adapter is a perfect solution for when you want to tow and carry additional accessories such as our bike rack here. It's got a nice black powder coat finish. Its combined tongue weight is 350 pounds between both receivers, and it has a 3,500 pound gross towing weight. Keep in mind, whenever using a hitch adapter it does reduce your weight capacity by half. Now that we've gone over some of the features for our dual receiver hitch adapter, I'll go ahead and show you how to install it. Then we'll take our shank, feed it into the receiver and line up our pinholes.

Then we'll take our included pin and clip, slide that through, put our clip in place, and then we've got it. Then we can take our ball mount, slide that in the bottom part of our hitch receiver adapter, which is the main part, the only part we can tow with, put our clip and pin in place. With our ball mount on let's go ahead and hook up our trailer. Now with our trailer hooked up let's go ahead and throw a bike rack on top. Same thing as below, we'll insert the shank of our bike rack in. We'll line up our pinholes.

Our bike rack came with an anti-rattle bolt so we're going to use that instead. Thread that through. Once we get it hand tightened we'll tighten it down with our socket wrench. That's going to complete today's look at the CURT dual 2" receiver tube adapter 8" extension, part number D-192. .

It’s perfect for towing our sailboat while also carrying our bike rack. This hitch is heavy duty, well designed, and inexpensive. I’d definitely recommend it for boats or trailers. I paid the lowest shipping charge but the company shipped it with a faster carrier and I received it within only a few days. 706381

This is exactly the hitch I was looking for to accommodate travelling in my Tacoma with a tandem kayak as well as a Yakima bike rack for two bikes. It actually saved me from buying a multi-sport trailer which can limit the possibilities of parking in limited areas to take advantage of secluded biking and kayaking venues. 681743

Product did what it is supposed to. I would have liked the product to have been able to have a higher weight tolerance. Also, the designers need to look into making a product with a higher second mount. If a trailer is towed, the second mount needs to be much higher to have clearance for bikes, etc. 212307

Great service! I received the adapter in short order and in great condition. I have a need to tow a car and a double trike carrier with my RV. Before I purchased this adapter I had a choice of towing one or the other. Now I can take both! 9967

After shopping locally at a few shops without success I went to google and discovered etrailer & desired product within 5 minutes. Three days later I had my double receiver and couldn’t be happier. Great product and great service. Thank You, etrailer. 573116

The hitch extender adapter arrived a day early and will allow me to use my bike rack while towing my trailer. If I do not bring the bike rack, the extension will allow the tail gate on my 2017 Silverado to be lowered without hitting the trailer tongue jack with the trailer hitched to the truck. Also the rated max towing weight of 3500 lbs with the extender is adequate for my needs, since the gross vehicle weight of my trailer is only 3000 lbs. 651219

Be aware that using this extender will LOWER the capacity both the towing and the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by half.

First, I know that processing and shipping comments are taboo, but I am truly amazed at how you got this to me so fast. Our problem was that we both kayak and bike. We have a trailer for the kayaks and a hitch rack for the bikes. We've only been able to take one or the other. Of course the logical idea is to get a dual receiver, but that didn't work because many duals offset the top receiver several inches to the rear, putting the bike rack into the front of the boats. This one, by having "even" openings, is a more excellent choice. But still not done. The bikes STILL sat too far aft and would STILL hit the boats, not directly, but when turning. So we also purchased an 18" extender for the bottom trailer opening. Now we have plenty enough space to allow for transporting everything! Bring on the recreation! 430260

I ordered this product to be able to tow a car and haul 4 bikes on a bike rack. I used it first on a camping trip 150 miles away. The product works as advertised. I towed a Pontiac Grand Am and caried 4 heavy mountain bikes with no problem. I did have to get longer chains and an extension for the electrical hookup for the tow dolly (the extender adds about 8 inches). I was initially worried about clearence between the bike rack and the car but that turned out not to be a problem at all and could have addded a fifth bike easily. I probably had 150 pounds of bikes plus about 100 to 125 pounds of tounge weight from the Grand Am on a tow dolly. This is close, but still under the limit of the product and had no issues while driving across some very bumpy roads. It was worth every penny not to have to drive a motor home and car seperately. It will certainly pay for itself on longer trips. 50764

  • Solution for Using Bike Rack and Cargo Carrier Together
We do have a solution for a bike rack and cargo carrier; your best option would be to use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 Platform Bike Rack w/ Cargo Carrier # HR1450Z-85 because this has a 50 lb per bike capacity and the carrier has a 100 lb capacity when attached to the bike rack, which suits your needs perfectly. The cargo carrier can also be removed from the rack and can be used on its own. The carrier has a 220 lb capacity when used by itself. The reason the Hollywood # HR1450Z-85...

You are correct in that the upper 2" hitch receiver tube does not have a collar around the opening in comparison to the lower 2" hitch receiver tube which does on the MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches part # MT70070. The lower 2" hitch receiver tube can be used for towing which is why the collar is present for additional strength whereas the top 2" receiver tube is not designed to be used for towing applications hence why it does not have a support collar. • Recommended Adapter for Ground Clearance of Bike Rack
The Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter, 8" Extension # D-192 will work well to give you the extra height you desire but using any adapter will reduce your hitch tongue weight by 50%. This won't be an issue with a Curt Class III hitch is you just use your Ridgeback # Y02457. A similar option for more height is the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 but it will also extend the length of the hitch 2-1/2 more inches than the # D-192. There is a dual hitch receiver adapter that will work for what you are looking to do but there is not one with a 3/4 inch drop to make the lower receiver the same level as the height on your motorhome's hitch like you were wanting. That's okay because you only need to be within three inches from level to safely tow, and the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for Tow Bars - 2-1/4" Rise/Drop # RM-077-2 will have you 1-1/2 inches below level, which is well within the safe zone (see...

I do have an option for you but you cannot use multiple hitch adapters together like the dual hitch adapter part # D-192 and the hitch extender part # C45791 for example. This would create too weak of a connection point and would limit your towing capacity to almost nothing. If you need to tow a trailer and haul a bike rack at the same time a much better option for you would be with the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount part # D210 or the Jack-It 2 Bike Rack part # LC429756. There is a way for you to carry a bike rack with you, but there is not a part similar to the # D-192 that would work for you.
