Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

  • High-Low Adapter Needed for Flat Towing a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
Since you can use different brand high-low adapters with any tow bar we actually have flat towing high-low adapters that will work for your situation. Unfortunately none of our dual adapters have the weight capacity to accomplish this. Attached is a link to our selection of high-low adapters that you can filter through. These range from a 2" rise/drop # RM-072-2 all the way to a 10-1/4" rise/drop # RM-048-10. If you're looking for an option with about a 7" drop like what the Malone # RM-048-10...

  • What do I Need to flat Tow a 2011 to 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Behind a Motorhome
To flat tow a 2011 to 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee there are 5 major components needed: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. The base plates are what attach to the front of the Jeep and provide a safe and proper attachment point for the tow bar. For the 2011 to 2013 Grand Cherokee I recommend Roadmaster EZ5 base plates # RM-521440-5. These base plates feature removable arms that, when removed, makes the base plates almost invisible. I have linked a video...

  • Base Plate Recommendation For a 2015 Ford Focus SE Hatchback
Good news, I can help you pick out the right base plate kit for your 2015 Ford Focus. Staying in the Roadmaster family since you have a Falcon # RM-520, the Roadmaster # RM-524443-5 and the Roadmaster # RM-524443-4 are both great fits for your 2015 Ford Focus SE Hatchback. Both will be compatible with your tow bar, just depends on how you would like the front of the vehicle to look after the install. The difference of the EZ4 and EZ5 is the mounting arms. The EZ5 has the arms that will...

  • Hitch Adapter with 2 Inches of Drop to Get a Cargo Carrier to Clear Spare Tire on a Jeep
You can use Roadmaster high/low adapter # RM-072-2 which offers a 2 inch drop. However, the use of this adapter (or any adapter) reduces the tongue weight capacity if the hitch by 50 percent. So for example if your hitch is rated for 350 pounds tongue weight it is reduced to 175 pounds when using an adapter. So the combined weight of your cargo carrier and the cargo cannot exceed the reduced capacity.

  • Which Hitch and Bike Rack Should I Get To Carry E-Bikes On My 2014 Dodge Challenger?
First let's get a hitch that will fit with your Borla exhaust but also have good ground clearance. The Curt Hitch Reciever Part # C13236 will give you 9-1/2" of ground clearance. Now, let's find a rack with the most ground clearance. The Inno Tire Hold 2 is going to be able to carry two electric bikes with a weight of 50lbs so you will be plenty good when it comes to weight capacity. This Rack has a rise in the shank so it sits higher than your hitch receiver when hauling. If you are still...

The High/low adapter # RM-072-2 does not come with a hitch pin. It takes a 5/8 inch diameter pin or lock. For a regular pin and clip you can use # PC3. For a lock you can use # RM-316 which is a set of 2 that are keyed alike.

  • How To Raise Generator Carrier on the Back Of a Winnebago Travato
I do have an option for you but none of the suspension enhancements we have for your 2019 Winnebago Travato 59K on a Ram ProMaster 3500 Chassis will lift the motorhome from stock height. The SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit part # SSA11 which is what I recommend will prevent the motorhome from sagging therefore increasing clearance but again nothing we offer will raise the rear of the motorhome from stock. • Can High-Low Adapter be Used for Motorcycle Carrier
Although you technically can use the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-072-2 to mount an accessory like a motorcycle carrier, the use of ANY adapter will reduce the tongue weight of the hitch on your vehicle by 50 percent. So if your hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs the use of an adapter such as this would lower the capacity to 250 lbs and your bike and hauler would be too heavy. So essentially, unless you have a hitch with a tongue weight capacity of 800 lbs you would not...

  • Hitch Adapter to Raise Cargo Carrier by 3-4 Inches
What you're describing is called a high-low adapter. They work very well keeping the tow bar level when you're flat towing a vehicle, but they can also be used for elevating a hitch mounted accessory. Another option would be the Roadmaster # RM-077-4 dual hitch receiver offers the rise you're looking for. • Tow Defender Recommendation for 2008 Mazda Miata Being Flat Towed with Roadmaster Falcon Towbar

  • Which High/Low Adapter for Flat Towing Lifted Jeep
    You'll need a high/low adapter to bring the tow bar within 3 inches +/- of level. The adapter you need will depend on the height difference between the base plates and the receiver on the motorhome/tow vehicle. Roadmaster offers several different adapters: • For a 2 inch rise/drop, use # RM-072-2 • For a 4 inch rise/drop, use # RM-070 • For a 6 inch rise/drop, use # RM-048-6 • For a 8 inch rise/drop, use # RM-048-8 • For a 10-1/4 inch rise/drop, use # RM-048-10 I've linked to an article...

  • High/Low Hitch Adapter to Keep Nighthawk Tow Bar RM-677 Level for Best Operation
Roadmaster does specify the 3-inch safe zone for tow bar height differences at the motorhome and toad ends. Really any tow bar will perform better when it is level since there will be less arm tube friction. A level tow bar will also endure less mechanical stress and it will put less stress on the base plates, the towed vehicle's frame and its suspension. Since you have invested in the Nighthawk # RM-677, one of the best tow bars available, I recommend you protect your investment and...

  • Will Hitch Extender # HE18 Allow Camper to be Towed with Tailgate Down
The Roadmaster High-Low Hitch Adapter, part # RM-072-2, is intended for leveling a tow-bar when flat towing a vehicle behind a motor home. It cannot be used to tow a camper. You might be able to use part # HE18, which is a hitch extender. This item adds 18 inches to the length of the receiver but also cuts in half its tongue weight capacity. • Anti-Rattle Device Recommendation for Use with Roadmaster High-Low Adapter
Since the Roadmaster High Low Adapter part # RM-072-2 that you referenced has a solid shank the type of anti-rattle device you would need is one like the # RM-061 which clamps around the shank and the opening of the hitch. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well. You should also note that when you use a hitch adapter like the extender you referenced you end up cutting the tongue weight capacity of the hitch in half so you would need to be aware of that as well.

  • Can a Tow Bar be 3-1/2 Inches Out of Level when Flat Towing a 2012 Jeep Liberty
The problem is that the tow bar can only flex so much and if it is 1/2 inch out of the safe zone now then it will be out much more when on uneven terrain. You will want it to be as level as possible. To get a more level set up you can use a high/low adapter to compensate for the 3-1/2 inches of difference between the base plates and the hitch. We have a 4 inch option, # RM-048-4, that will get you closest to level. Or if you want to be in the safe zone you could use a 2 inch drop model...

The lower square tube on the Kuat Pivot # PVP20B is not designed or rated for use with any type of accessory. However if you use it or anything similar it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent.
