  • Gross towing weight: 10,000 lbs

    • 4-1/2" From center of hitch pin hole to angled brace
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Arrived sooner than expected. Etrailer ships very fast. It's a steel hitch... and works great.

I have been using this hitch for a year now. It is still rock solid.

etrailer customized the RM-048-10 by lengthening the shaft so that it would fit through the bumper of our Class C RV and be strong enough to support the Stowaway 2 Cargo Carrier. It works beautifully! During travel there is some left to right wiggle that occurs with the carrier. We solved this problem with ratchet straps to secure both sides of the carrier. The hitch is stout and strong, and does the job! Of course we strengthened it with the clamps, so the hitch is solid and unmovable. With the custom hitch, the Stowaway 2 carrier is lifted enough so that it doesn't bottom out when traveling up or down steep hills. etrailer staff are very easy to work with, along with the brilliant engineers who communicated well with the exact details of the design to assure the build worked safely. It is an excellent hitch; worth the value. We're on the road again with all of our lawn chairs/tables, etc. in the cargo carrier out of the elements, instead of inside the RV. Great work, etrailer! Thank you! S&S

It does what I expected it to do. I use it on front of truck hitch to lower bike rack I use when pulling fifth wheel trailer (back hitch isn't useable).

No good for a rise. The angle caused too much leverage and the pin hole does not leave enough depth for a deep shank. No way this thing is doing 400 lb TW without bending up your hitch/frame. Looked shakey at 200lb. I got the Blue Ox High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7" Rise/Drop - 12" Long and use that one instead.

The highlow adapter is primarily designed for use when flat towing a vehicle, where theres no tongue weight applied to it. If used for a hitch mounted accessory, the tongue weight capacity of the hitch and the adapter itself is reduced by 50. The adapter is NOT meant for towing a trailer.

This was the perfect height to level my tow bar to my lifted jeep. I recommend using a good quality clamp on the upper and lower receiver to stabilize the hitch assembly.

It's a big drop, 10 inches. I needed to get a 35 gal. tank low enough to the ground to drain waste water from my camper and take it to the dump station without always hooking back up to the camper. The waste tank sets on the aluminum platform and is easily transported to where it needs to go. The high-low adapter is rated at 10,000 pounds and more than I need for this application but it's going to be used for other things too.

Required an hi/low hitch receiver of either 6" or 10" drop, was not sure which, & a light weight cargo carrier for traveling. Called etrailer and very heloful, patient and knowledgable CSR Cathy T fixed me up. Arrived on time. No problems.

Mounted on Jeep Grand Cherokee to lower hitch for attachment of wheelchair/scooter carrier. Does the job, and also extends the carrier further rearward, which provides sufficient clearance for the rear hatch to clear the scooter when loaded.

Had to place shims on each side and top to prevent jerking.

Just exactly what I needed. Thanks

Great product! Used this to lift ups reciever hitch basket on my Honda Pioneer. Well built and extremely fast shipping. Thank you

I needed a raised hitch for a Polaris Ranger, worked absolutely perfect.
Heavy duty product and shipped the same day I ordered. More than happy with this hitch.

Heavy-duty very nice hitch. Using in on RV to raise tow bar to the height of my jeep.

Product was what I wanted and quick shipping! Great price too! Thanks E Trailer!

Great option for a Honda Odyssey, in which the after market hitch receiver is quite low to the ground. Both the rise and length of this adapter allow for a cargo carrier to be raised considerably and also for the hatch to open without obstruction. Just remember to not overload the tongue (meaning no more than 1/2 the tongue weight of the hitch receiver).

Great product, and great product support

I tow my jeep wrangler with a 2-1/2" lift kit with 33 off road tires, behind with my motorcoach, the 10 1/4" rise sets my tow bar practically level to my off road Bumper. Heavy duty design works great.

Great purchase no issues

The receiver hitch is exactly what I wanted but getting it delivered is another story. They lost the first one to be delivered which I had a week before I needed the hitch no problem. After they lost the first one the second one was suppose to deliver on Wednesday and I was going out of Rouen and needed it before I leave. Welll it didn’t show up till Thursday afternoon and I had to cancel my plans out of town because I bought a truck in Kansas and was flat towing my jeep home. Needless to say you might think about who you have for delivery service they are terrible

Called to ask a question about a trailer hitch riser I wanted. Got my answer and customer service guy placed my order while I was on phone. Part came quickly and was exactly what I needed. etrailer is a great on line retailer and I recommend them highly.

Still working great

I have a lifted jeep that I flat tow behind RV, this keeps my tow bar at a better angle with this lifted 10".

I bought this receiver for use with my bike rack. I have a frame mounted receiver on the back of my travel trailer. Before I used the receiver, the tires from my bicycles would strike the ground going over uneven ground, such as driveways. By flipping the receiver upside down, the 10 inch rise gives me tremendous clearance to prevent the bicycle tires from striking the ground. I now use the receiver for the rear receiver on my 3500 GMC. I have used the receiver over one dozen times and have not had any issues.
The only down side, is the weight of the receiver; but for the quality and strength of the receiver, I can happily live with the extra weight.

I bought the trailer hitch lower kit, works very good and is solid. Bought the locking pin , easy to use and has held up in great condition. Last, I bought the load stabilizer, simple product but effective, thanks guys for being helpful and having great products

Recently purchased a Jeep Wrangler to tow behind my motorhome. After replacing tires and adding a suspension lift, my towbar was about 8" off level. The Roadmaster 10" Hi-Low receiver adapter inserted inverted brought my towbar back into perfect level. When I received the hitch adapter, I was surprised to find how beefy it was. The part which goes into the hitch on the motorhome is solid bar stock with a 1/2" stock gusset. Probably overkill for my Wrangler, but gives us piece of mind when towing it.

I needed this much drop to tow my low Ford Fiesta behind my Winnebago Sightseer. Didn't register how high the hitch was on the Winnebago when I bought it. This adapter fit the bill perfectly, got great service from the folks at etrailer, and have had no problems with the adapter.
You can't go wrong with etrailer.

Does exactly what they said it would do.

  • 6 Inch Drop Ball Mount To Tow a Travel Trailer Level
If you need a ball mount with a 6 inch drop to tow the travel trailer level then we have numerous options. I have included a link to them for you to the right. If you need an adapter with a 6 inch drop to flat tow a vehicle then we have # RM-048-6. The high low adapters can only be used to flat tow a vehicle behind a motor home and cannot be used for towing.

  • Better Adapter for Bike Rack for Most Rise
Between the 8 inch rise of the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-8 and 10 inch rise of the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10, I recommend going with the adapter that gives you the 10 inches of rise. You are right that this is the slightly longer adapter, but only about an inch and a half longer, and that is not going to cause any added clearance problems. Since your issue is you need to clear the ground just on steeper hills, you are much better off going with what will give...

The longest adapter we carry is the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter - 2" Hitches - 10-1/4" Rise/Drop - 10K GTW, 400 lbs TW # RM-048-10. I don't know if you measured from the top of the receiver opening, but this will get you 10-1/4 inches of drop from the center of the receiver tube opening. Your tow bar can have a 3 inch drop but anything further than that isn't safe due to road bumps. Make sure you are measuring from the ground to the center of your hitch receiver and from the ground to...

  • Recommended High/Low Adapter for Flat Towing a Jeep Behind a Motorhome
It sounds like the problem you are trying to fix is that your tow bar does not sit level while your Jeep is being flat towed. According to Blue Ox and Roadmaster, most tow bars can be off-level by 3 inches at the base plates but the closer to level you are the better it will be. Based on the measurements you provided, I recommend using the High/Low adapter # RM-048-10. This adapter would place the tow bar's attachment to the hitch only 1/4 of an inch from level which will be great for...

So for a hitch with a 500 lb tongue weight capacity, when using the # RM-048-10, the tongue weight capacity will be reduced to 250 lbs total. So the total tongue weight - which will consist of the tongue weight of your flat towed vehicle, the weight...

  • Largest Available High-Low Adapter for Tow Bar on Jeep Wrangler
The largest high-low adapter we offer is 10" like the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter part # RM-048-10. That said, the tow bar only need to be within 3" of level with the vehicle so as long as you are within this margin you're good to go. If not, I'm afraid we don't have any other options to get you there and you'd need to consider lowering the vehicle as it's not going to tow great anyway due to the large tires.
