  • 10 Inch Rise/Drop

Make up for the height difference between your RV and towed vehicle with this hitch adapter. Provides either a 10-1/4" drop or a 10-1/4" rise. Solid shank provides strength and durability.

Features:

  • Allows for proper positioning of tow bar
    • Makes up for height difference between RV's hitch and towed vehicle's base plates
    • Also lets you mount a bike rack, cargo carrier, or other 2" hitch accessory
  • Provides either drop or rise for adequate ground clearance
  • Constructed of sturdy steel
    • Solid shank for superior strength and durability
  • Resists rust and corrosion with black powder coat finish
  • Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock sold separately
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers
  • Drop/rise: 10-1/4"
  • Receiver: 2" x 2"
  • Tongue weight: 400 lbs
  • Gross towing weight: 10,000 lbs
  • Length:
    • 11-1/4" From center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch pin hole
    • 4-1/2" From center of hitch pin hole to angled brace
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

I needed this much drop to tow my low Ford Fiesta behind my Winnebago Sightseer. Didn't register how high the hitch was on the Winnebago when I bought it. This adapter fit the bill perfectly, got great service from the folks at etrailer, and have had no problems with the adapter. You can't go wrong with etrailer. 339830

Mounted on Jeep Grand Cherokee to lower hitch for attachment of wheelchair/scooter carrier. Does the job, and also extends the carrier further rearward, which provides sufficient clearance for the rear hatch to clear the scooter when loaded. 421437

It's a big drop, 10 inches. I needed to get a 35 gal. tank low enough to the ground to drain waste water from my camper and take it to the dump station without always hooking back up to the camper. The waste tank sets on the aluminum platform and is easily transported to where it needs to go. The high-low adapter is rated at 10,000 pounds and more than I need for this application but it's going to be used for other things too. 538439

This was the perfect height to level my tow bar to my lifted jeep. I recommend using a good quality clamp on the upper and lower receiver to stabilize the hitch assembly. 379389

I bought this to align the tow bar from my motor home to my jeep which has larger than standard tire. This is a heavy duty item and has worked without issue since I purchased it. It is robust enough that I have no doubt that it will last a long time. 702921

I bought this receiver for use with my bike rack. I have a frame mounted receiver on the back of my travel trailer. Before I used the receiver, the tires from my bicycles would strike the ground going over uneven ground, such as driveways. By flipping the receiver upside down, the 10 inch rise gives me tremendous clearance to prevent the bicycle tires from striking the ground. I now use the receiver for the rear receiver on my 3500 GMC. I have used the receiver over one dozen times and have not had any issues. The only down side, is the weight of the receiver; but for the quality and strength of the receiver, I can happily live with the extra weight. 680301

  • Will Kuat Bike Rack Fit with Roadmaster 10-1/4 High-Low Adapter
I was able to test fit the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10 you referenced with the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # NV22G and found that the square receiver for the Kuat rack had no problem installing in the Roadmaster high-low adapter so you will be just fine! Please keep in mind that when using any adapter or extender the tongue weight rating of your hitch is reduced by 50%. I do recommend using the Quiet Hitch # RM-061 to help minimize the movement of the adapter in your...

  • Troubleshooting Flat Tires When Towing Mini Cooper With 2011 Holiday Rambler
First, before flat towing your 2011 Mini Cooper, be sure the tires are filled to the recommended psi and in good condition. More importantly, be certain your steering column is not locked; if your tires are unable to turn they would wear out quickly. If you think your safety cables may be an issue, and yours are shorter than 7', an option would be the Blue Ox Blue Ox 7' Safety Cables # BX88197. Another thing you could do is add an anti-rattle device such as the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver...

  • How to Tow a Lifted Jeep Level Behind a Motorhome
You will absolutely need to use a high-low adapter in order to bring the connection point of the towbar more parallel with the trailer hitch receiver. The recommended distance is +/- 3" but the closer you are the better the vehicle will tow. For this, I recommend using the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter part # RM-048-10 which offers up to a 10-1/4" rise/drop. Please note that the trailer hitch side is measured using the center of the receiver tube. I have attached a review video for you...

The longest adapter we carry is the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter - 2" Hitches - 10-1/4" Rise/Drop - 10K GTW, 400 lbs TW # RM-048-10. I don't know if you measured from the top of the receiver opening, but this will get you 10-1/4 inches of drop from the center of the receiver tube opening. Your tow bar can have a 3 inch drop but anything further than that isn't safe due to road bumps. Make sure you are measuring from the ground to the center of your hitch receiver and from the ground...

  • Hitch High/Low Adapter for Better Ground Clearance When Using Cargo Carrier
Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-10 for 2-inch hitches will give your hitch-mount cargo carrier 10-1/4-inches of height gain for better ground clearance. It will also reduce your hitch capacity by 50-percent, as do all such adapters/extenders. This loss of hitch capacity results from the change in geometry, which moves the carrier's weight load further away from the hitch itself. You'll need to make sure the combined weight of the carrier and its loaded cargo does not exceed half of...

  • How Far Off Level Can a Tow Bar Be When Flat Towing a Vehicle Behind an RV
For most tow bars the "safe zone" between the RV and the toad is 3 inches off level. The height is measured from the ground to the center of the receiver opening and to the center of the base plate. If you find that your set up is outside of the safe zone then there are high/low adapters you can use to compensate for the height difference. I have included a link to our help article explaining the adapters and safe zone as well as a link to our selection of high/low adapters.

It also moves the accessory further away from the hitch receiver resulting in extra stress on the hitch (which is the reason the tongue weight capacity is reduced).
