Features to know about

Get More Out of Every Trip: Class III 2" Receiver for Towing or Carrying Gear

This hitch is built for everyday use—whether you’re hauling a small trailer, loading up bikes, or adding a cargo carrier. With a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs and a tongue weight rating of 500 lbs, it’s strong enough for light to moderate towing. The 2" x 2" receiver fits the most common accessories, so you can switch easily between a ball mount, bike rack, or storage platform without adapters.

Tough Finish That Lasts: Matte Black Powder Coat Resists Rust and Scratches

The fully welded steel construction is protected by a matte black powder coat finish over a protective base layer. This coating gives the hitch a rugged, carbide-like look and stands up to corrosion from road salt and weather. The matte surface also hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than glossy finishes, keeping the hitch looking clean after miles of use.

No Hassle Install: Bolt-On Design with Complete Hardware Kit

You don’t need to weld or drill to get this hitch on your vehicle. The precision robotic welding ensures a perfect fit to the frame, and all necessary mounting hardware is included. It’s designed for an easy bolt-on installation using basic tools in your driveway or garage. Once installed, only the round-tube receiver shows for a clean, factory-style appearance.

Built to Handle Real-World Use: Durable Construction with Lifetime Support

Every hitch is manufactured with precision robotic welding that maximizes strength and alignment. The combination of solid steel and careful design means it can handle repeated towing and accessory changes without loosening up or flexing. It’s a dependable piece of equipment you can count on every time you hook up your trailer or load up your gear.

Solid product. Love the matte color and the final result. Instructions are easy to follow with all the tools is easy to put in. Cut some parts of the plastic cover for easy return. Need a helping friend and a jack supporting the hitch while screwing underneath, its pretty heavy. For now will be using for bike rack but also for camp trailer in the future.

Very good quality hitch. Fast shipping. Installed in less than one hour by myself, and was installed with no lift. Great instructions!

The hitch has been used heavily for one year and after going through winters salt and sand it still looks brand new. Quality hitch!

by:

This was installed on a 2021 Highlander XSE model. It did fit my XSE but does overlap my spare tire just a bit. I think the overlap with the spare tire is small enough that I would still be able to drop the spare with the cable without much trouble. Raising a new spare would take some adjustment to fit behind the tow hitch. The holes all aligned fine after some need to flex the tow hitch from shipping. I provided a picture of how it fits over the exhaust unique to the XSE. In order to get the hitch receiver installed we had to remove the two rubber mounts that hold up the muffler at the end of the tail pipe and further up the connecting pipe. I used the shipping box of the hitch receiver to rest the muffler so it wouldn't scratch and that worked well.

by:

A year after my installation I am quite happy with my etrailer hitch receiver. I was especially pleased with the installation. It is very well built, so that makes it pretty heavy. I wasn't sure I could get it mounted by myself. But by throwing together some supports with some old 2X4's and the car jack, I managed it quite well without putting my vehicle on a lift. Every hole matched perfectly and I know it will be there forever. My primary use is to support a bicycle rack. But if I should need to use a trailer, though, I am confident it will do just fine.

by:

Great fit. I am 66 and with a little help from my wife we had the Hitch installed in an hour.

by:

Hitch fit like a dream. Very heavy duty. Nice finish. Will do the job and last forever.

by:

went on relatively easy, but some prying was necessary to align two holes.
My kick sensor was supposed to work with this hitch, It beeps twice with a foot swipe but the hatch does not open!!

by:

Fits and looks great. I did have to grind one hole about a paper thickness bigger as the bolts didn’t exactly line up. Maybe just a slight bend on the hitch. I tried for hours different ways and finally just ground one hole on the drivers side ever so slightly… fit great. Should have done that first. But very pleased.

It’s been a year, and my hitch has been performing great when needed

by:

I personally tried to install this railer Hitch Receiver, and I failed to do so because this frame was not welded in size, I could not tighten one bolt because one side was narrow by 1 centimeter, just the side where the plate was screwed to maintain the right protection plastic and I had to go to The guys at the body shop station, they had a tool that allowed you to bend the frame and screw the last bolt into the frame to the body, so you should have followed the correct dimensions.

by:

It looks very solid and l really like the matte finish.
I'm in the process of finding a garage to install it for me and from video l watched, it looks straight forward. This was purchased for carrying e-bikes so l'm sure it will B perfect.

by:

Really solid hitch and simple install.

by:

Customer service was great. Installation video was great. Delivery time was great. I, like others who bought this hitch, had the issue where one of the six holes did not line up. I was provided with instructions on various ways to try lining up the hole. My complaint is that this was due to what e-trailer described as shipping damage. This is an issue the consumer should not have to deal with. I am sure that etrailer would rather not have these issues as well. Simply adding a piece of angle iron between the last attaching point from each side would keep these “ears” as they called them from getting bent. This would turn a difficult unintended consequence into a very straightforward easy installation.

by:

Fits perfectly in threaded holes already in frame provided by Toyota. Snugs exactly under bumper and looks great. Easy install I would recommend putting an extra plastic connector to hold passenger side rear cover underneath since the removal of the metal bracket leaves the cover loose. I did this easily. But your directions should recommend it at least as an option and include one plastic connector - not necessary but makes the cover not wiggle. I've included a photo where I put two plastic connectors in, but need only one. This photo I included is the cover on passenger side underneath showing the two extra connectors (you do need to drill the holes) also that is the Hitch bolt nearest the rear.

Perfect. Solid and strong. Hitch has been just right for my 3-ball mount. Wiring also from etrailer working great. Remember the wiring was simple since Toyota has a connector under the 2023 Highlander dirver side rear trim panel. Just pop the trim away not off and connect the connector first part. The scond part of the 2nd connector harness goes under the rear bumper also to a Toyota pre-installed connector under the rear bumper.

by:

Been an etrailer customer for many years. This hitch unit is well made and heavy duty. It was very easy to install - took less than 1 hour doing it by myself using ramps and a floor jack. The unit fit perfectly to the Toyota body structure. A minor trimming modification was needed to the plastic drivers side underbody panel. Very satisfied with hitch assembly and the easy installation.

High quality heavy duty product still performing without any negative issues.

by:

Good phone service, answered all my questions. Excellent tracking of shipment's progress, i.e., on hand, pulled from warehouse shelf, sent to carrier, etc. Heavy, simple to install, well built device. Good tutorials on the web also.

by:

Installed just over a year paint and finish has held up well fit was very good. Very happy with this after market hitch. I was able to install without cutting away the whole underbody panel, I feel with a small adjustment from manufacture you would be able to install without cutting away the larg section of under panel as they show in video otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. Still I would recommend this hitch for the 2021 Highlander

by:

I was told an initial delivery date, the it changed after I got another email. Shipping was the only issue, otherwise A+++++!

by:

Managed to install it on my own, on my 2026 Highlander. With two jacks (hooked to power drills) and two milk crates, I managed to lift it up progressively, side by side, until the holes in the receiver and the holes in the frame rails were aligned and I could insert the bolts on each side. The only added difficulty compared to the 2022 Highlander is that the exhaust pipe cannot be dropped down, so that the hitch must be angled and pushed between the tip of the exhaust and the deflector on the bumper. It's a bit tricky, especially on my own, by the milk crates provided enough support. Very proud my myself for doing it on my own. Happy that the piece was properly machined and the holes aligned perfectly.

by:

This was easy to install once the bolts were found. The installation bolts were located inside of the hitch itself. After a friendly call they explained this to me. We haven’t used it for anything more than a luggage rack but have used it multiple times. The vehicle isn’t exactly made for towing but believe it would hold up better than the vehicle. It is a quality product!!

by:

It’s been one year and I still love it. I use it a few times a week for a surf fishing cart and was hesitant to keep all my gear in the cart for the drive. However, after I installed a folding tray on it and loaded it up with a couple hundred pounds of trash I decided to just leave my fishing gear in the cart. It was easy to install because I used a rolling jack as my second set of hands. Everything lined up and the rear foot release control still works fine. I will warn you about one thing. It is a shin killing machine. I’ve busted my shin on the darn thing a dozen more times.

One year later and the hitch is still strong and rust free. I really put it to the test this summer moving things like a snowblower. I also used a four foot hitch extension and hauled a bunch of lumber with no problem. AND! It does NOT affect the hatch lid kick sensor. Very very happy with it!

by:

The fit is perfect and you only see the 2” receiver. It’s fairly heavy and having a second person would be ideal. I used 2 floor jacks and 2 jack stands and did by myself. Took me about 75 minutes. The only issue is that the hands free liftgate no longer works. It just beeps when you kick under the hitch and doesn’t do anything.

by:

I have a Toyota Highlander platinum hybrid 2024, the hitch fitted perfectly, however I do recommend a 3rd helper, this is not a one man job. It’s very easy to install but very heavy. I really like that the hitch hides. Thank you etrailer

Yes it’s fits a Highlander platinum hybrid in case your wondering like me.

@Edison Glad we had the right fit for you Hybrid Edison! What do you mainly use the hitch for?

by:

Solidly built, not worried about it not doing the job BUT: Read the reviews: you won’t be able to line up at least 1 hole. I was lucky that I only had one hole that didn’t line up and I too was able to make it work with some tooling. I measured the holes prior to install and the far holes on my hitch were at least 1cm narrower in distance than the front holes… that’s a bent hitch plain and clear.

I don’t buy the whole “bent in transit” excuse. This thing is made of thick steel, built like a tank (which is good). It’s that whoever welded it (most likely some overseas factory - China) didn’t account for the welding pulling the metal. Poor jig setup plain and simple. Anyone who’s ever welded for 5 minutes knows this. These anhould be double checked before leaving the factory Improve your QC Etrailer!

Anyway, be prepared to work a hole or two to make it work. It’s a pain and adds time to the install. Otherwise, I’m sure it’s a fine hitch and will do the job fine once you wrangle it into place. Tip: bolts should thread in easily! Make sure you don’t cross thread. For the final tighten: Use a torque wrench - 86ft pounds is a lot!

by:

We mounted this on our Toyota Highlander to put a tray on it for sandy beach equipment. I had to cut minimal amounts of the plastic undercarriage of the car to install it. It would have been easier to install if I had a car lift, but I was able to install it by myself lying on the ground. I used some 4x4s and 2x2s to prop up the hitch so It was close to the car bottom to get the bolts started. The Highlander already had pre threaded holes for the hitch bolts to attach.

This is a class III (2" x 2") hitch with a 5,000 lb weight capacity, and a 500 lb tongue weight capacity so you'll get plenty of capacity to do whatever you want (within reason).
