Updated 05/14/2024 | Published 04/14/2024

Question:

Im looking for a hitch for my Toyota 2021 Highlander. The vehicle has a large tire stored under the chassis. What hitch options do I have? I see a number cant handle it. Thanks!

David, there are trailer hitches for your 2021 Toyota Highlander. I recommend checking out the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e75ZR. This is a class III (2" x 2") hitch with a 5,000 lb weight capacity, and a 500 lb tongue weight capacity so you'll get plenty of capacity to do whatever you want (within reason).

As far as your spare goes, if it's smaller than 18" then this hitch will work with it, but if it's bigger then you'll have to permanently remove it.

I talked directly to Danny this morning and he indicated that hitch EH35VR would work with my 20" spare tire so that has been ordered and the shipment is pending. Please let me know if this hitch won't work, Thanks, Dave

@DavidS You're all good David, this one will work with a 20" spare.

@BryceD I recently ordered a trailer hitch for my 2021 Toyota Highlander. While attempting to install the hitch i noticed two things. 1. the ECOHitch X7421 is for a 2020 Toyota Highlander... i just want to make sure it will fit my 2021 as well 2. the driver and passenger vertical plates were missing from the parts inventory. Can you please send me these parts? X7421-P3-D and X7421-P3-P

@DavidS David, the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH35VR you're referring too will work great with your 2021 Highlander. Those plates you mention however, is not something we have, unfortunately.
