Video Transcript for Blue Ox Accessories and Parts BX88254 Review

Today we're going to show you the Blue Ox seven wire to four wire coiled electrical cord, part number BX88254. We have it together here and you can see that our coils are tied together, and it's just about a foot long. This will actually expand or stretch out to about seven feet. Now we'll take a look at its seven-pole end here. This is designed to work with your RV. The other end is designed to plug into your car that you're towing behind the RV.

It also comes with a provided four-pole connector as well. Now this does not come with a bracket to hold it in place, or the hardware, so you need to supply that on your own. Now all the wires and cables are encased in a silicone-based material. That will finish it for the Blue Box seven to four-way coiled electrical cord, part number BX88254. .

We were having a hard time finding a replacement cord to connect our motor home to our Jeep. Jeep dealer was not real helpful. I came across this site, they had what I needed shipped it promptly. It is great quality and works well. Even better than the previous one I had which did come from the Jeep dealer.

We were glad to be able to find this item. First we drove out to Wentzville thinking the store would be open. Sure hope it opens back up in the future. You have many items needed by motor home owners and we intend to tell our friends to remember about your services.

Would have given it 4 stars had it came with wiring instructions for the connector

Don’t blame etrailer, but this Blue Ox cord has no instructions for wiring the receptacle. Other than that, the product is great!!!

We've owned a few of these, and they've been fine. Our hook-up requires that the cord be pulled pretty tight, and we use small bungees at both ends to keep it plugged in when traveling, and to keep it from dragging down the road if it should become detached. We've had it happen, and the cord was ruined. We would like to find a longer one but have not seen such an item for sale. A wire came loose a few months back, in the 'tow car' end. A simple fix. These are the best cords we've found.

Well made product. Received on time as-promised, well packaged and no damage. Good craftsmanship and quality components very evident and it works as advertised. eTrailer is a great company to do business with. Their internet site os well designed, fast and accurate with great follow-up and attention to the customer. I have completed business with them for over a few years now and never had a disappointment. Recommend them all the time. Bob

This was just what I was looking for and has worked great since I bought it a year. Really like the length for my motorhome-car connection; easy to install each time I get ready to hit the road. Thought about purchasing a second one to have on hand in case of an emergency.

Comments
This product is still working like it did when purchased. It shows no signs of wear...only road dirt and grime. Glad I purchased it.

It is exactly like an original cable I had for my tow setup. The original is 9 years old and even though the original is still working perfectly it looks weathered. This one is my spare, just in case.

Ordergin this electical connector is the first step in preparing my car for towing. It was the right plug for the existing socket that is already on my RV.

  • Black 7-Wire to 4-Wire Coiled Electrical Cable
The Blue Ox 7-Wire to 4-Wire Coiled Electrical Cord # BX88254 only comes in blue. My understanding is that these types of cords typically come in high visibility colors so that they're easy to notice if something is hanging down while towing. If you wanted to go with an uncoiled cord, we do have a black one available in the Hopkins Tow Bar Extension Cord # HM47047 that provides the same connection.

  • How to Wire the 4-Way Round Socket for the Blue Ox 7-Wire to 4-Wire Adapter # BX88254
There are so many different diagrams on how to wire a 4-way round trailer connector because a standard has not been set on how to wire this type of trailer connector. This is likely because 4-way round trailer connectors are not very common. I spoke with my contact at Blue Ox to determine how they wired their 7-Wire to 4-Wire Adapter, # BX88254, that you are planning on using. When looking at the front of the socket, wire the 4-way round socket as follows - Top Left - Left stop/turn,...
