Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies

Today we're going to take a look at the mounting hardware for 10" brake assemblies. This hardware will allow you to install two trailer brake assemblies to the 4-bolt brake mounting flange on the trailer axle. This hardware is designed to fit the 10" brake assemblies that already have the mounting bolts installed on the assemblies. These will work with electric or hydraulic brakes. It includes everything shown here on the table. It includes eight of the 7/16 by 20 nuts, and they do have a head size of 11/16. Here's a socket that has 11/16.

You can see it fits perfectly. It comes also with the eight lock washers. So, this would be all used to install the assemblies to your axle. That should do it for the review on the mounting hardware for 10" brake assemblies.

I didn’t like having to buy mounting hardware kit separately, hardware should be included with brake backing plates.

by:

Definitely worth the few extra bucks to get new hardware when you change brakes.

by:

Bought new breaks for my trailer and wanted new mounting hardware.

by:

Worked well with new full backing plates

by:

Fast shipping

by:

Works as designed.

by:

Great, fast shipping. I am confused because somewhere I read that if you buy the Right and Left set of brakes, the mounting nuts are free. Someone posted they had to buy the nuts. So, I ordered them too. P.S. they didn't send any extra nuts.

It took me awhile to put the new self-adjusting brakes on the trailer. But, these nuts and lock-washers worked great.

by:

Was very happy with your product

by:

As usual you never fail, from ordering to delivery your simply the best

by:

Replacing Trailer brakes very easy with your brake assemblies. Thanks

by:

Well worth not having to make a trip to the hardware store. Very convenient.

by:

Great service. Quick shipment on brake assemblies and tires. Competitive pricing. Found myself a new supplier.

by:

SHOULDVE BEEN PUT IN A BAG INSTEAD OFBEING THROWN INSIDE WITH THE BACKING PLATES

by:

Perfect fit.

by:

The shipping was fast. I am expecting a second order I made for tires on aluminum rims in a couple days. I am looking forward to receiving them to upgrade my new trailer.

by:

After some difficulty removing the nuts on the back of the brake mounting plate, I decided to just order new hardware and toss the old nuts and washers away. Replacement hardware arrived within two days, did not delay re-assy as weather rained. Just a note, I would recommend that e-trailer just include the hardware when you order replacement brake assemblies. 7/16 x 20 nuts are not that common.

by:

Well, you may not see the actual brake controller in these shots, but I wanted to display just how much etrailer product was used to restore this old trailer. Re-decked the trailer, new wheel bearings, added brakes on all 4 with this brake controller and battery powered emergency disconnect... new rust protection, primer and paint, new lights and wiring all the way around, new wiring harness/box, and new tire carrier. Nearly all product except the decking and paint was from etrailer. the customer support was fantastic, I highly recommend this company!

by:

Excellent quality nuts and washers. If doing brakes, there is no reason to reuse the old mounting hardware!

Everything is great! Just had our Band Boosters order new wheels and tires from etrailer!

by:

Great product. Ordeing was easy. Parts work an fit perfectly.

by:

I installed the brakes on the front axle of my boat trailer that carries a 21' fiberglass deep hull off shore boat. They work good as long as you have the controls set to the proper amount of gain. Even with the 5000# weight of my boat if I have the gain too high and hit the brakes too hard they will lock up. This is my second set for the same trailer. I found that no matter what you do not immerse them in saltwater. When I am going into saltwater I remove the brakes and put regular trailer hubs on until I am no longer in the saltwater environment. It's a hassle but I have never felt safe with surge brakes.

by:

worked great

by:

Hardwear kit not sure why it doesn't come with the backing plates? It did help with a nice new clean install.

In the product descriptions for the brake assemblies, we mention that the mounting hardware is sold separately.

by:

I’ve been well pleased with the trailer hubs , drums, and electric break assembly and the price was very satisfactory. Made a noticeable difference in in the tow ability of my camper. I’ve recommended this product and etrailer to a number of friends. Will definitely be shopping with you when I need parts.

by:

Ordered brake assemblies for all four wheels on a 3500 lb. 2-axle travel trailer with mounting hardware and heat shrinking wire connectors. Everything was very high quality and assembly took about 45 mins. per wheel. It also shipped in two days so I couldn't be happier about the transaction. Thanks.

by:

Never disappointed with etrailer! I changed the electric brakes before, so I knew what to expect. This RV has been in the Fla. swamps for over 10 years, so rusk was dominate on the nuts. A bit of cleaning, penetrating oil and all went well. New wiring, new brakes and everything works great.
Ian W shipped exactly what I needed and shipment arrived on time and well packaged. Hats off to ALL those involved in this process. I'll be back.

  • Comparing the eTrailer and Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kits
I currently have four different self-adjusting assemblies for your boat trailer with 10" x 2-1/4" electric drum brakes. You can choose from the following: -Terran Axle Electric Trailer Brakes # TX97ZJ (3,500 Axles) -etrailer Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-35-SA (3,500 Axles) -Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-468-469 (3,500 Axles) -Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # K23-478-479 (4,400 Axles) The Terran brand is going to be the economy...

  • Demco vs. etrailer Hydraulic Dacromet 3,500 lb Trailer Brakes
Hi Ed, In regards to the 3,500 lb Demco Hydraulic Brake Kit # 40716-15 and the Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # AKUBRK-35-D, starting with the country of origin, the Demco are made in the U.S. and the opposing brakes (made by AxleTek) are made in China. They are both designed for a boat trailer because of their corrosion resistance, but the better option is the Demco # 40716-15. The reason for that is because they are free-backing brakes, which means you can back up without the brakes engaging,...

  • Parts Needed to Add Brakes to 3,500 lb Trailer Axle
Since we know you have 3,500 lb axles we can pretty easily pick out the correct parts you'd need to add brakes to your trailer. You'd need new hubs that have integrated drums like with the part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K which have the very common 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Then you'd need to add matching brake assemblies with the part # AKEBRK-35-SA and you'd be set aside from 10 gauge wiring like part # 10-1-1 which we offer that you'd want to wire up the assemblies with. This is sold by the foot.

  • Brakes for Second Axle on Horse Trailer
Hey Robert! Ideally you're going to get 12V all the way back to the brakes but that typically doesn't happen. What exactly is the issue? Are they not working at all? At 8-9V I would expect them to have most of their functionality to a point you probably wouldn't notice. Are you saying you have 11V at the brake assemblies when you use the jumper pack? Do you have full 12V coming off of your vehicle when you use the manual override on your brake controller? Some typical issues with low voltage...

  • Difference Between etrailer and Demco Hydraulic Trailer Brakes
Hey Brent! The etrailer # AKUBRK-35-D fit 13"-15" wheels and come with a 2-year warranty. The Demco # 18788-87 fit 14" or 15" wheels and come with a 1-year warranty. Outside of that, and the slight difference in cost, I would expect similar performance from both. These are both 10" x 2-1/4" designed for 3,500 lb axles with a standard 4-bolt brake flange. Personally, I would choose the etrailer brakes for the better warranty. Any big trips planned with your boat trailer before summer wraps up?

  • Replacement Brakes for 2005 TrailManor 2720QB
Hi Terry; we don't have a way of knowing what brakes your 2005 TrailManor 2720QB has so you will need to identify them. The easiest thing you can do is check the axle tag and see if there is a listed capacity and serial number. The axle manufacturer can use the serial number to identify the axle. If you don't have an axle tag you will need to pull off the wheels and hubs to check the brakes. The bearings from the hubs can also be used to identify the axle, or you can measure the brake...

  • Parts Needed to Add Brakes to Pontoon Trailer With 3,500 lb Axles
Hi Tom; does your trailer have brakes at all? Is this a single axle or tandem axle trailer? The best option for a pontoon trailer would be hydraulic since you will be putting it in the water. The first thing you need to do is make sure you have a brake flange on your 3,500 lb axle/axles. Assuming you do, you can use the Hydraulic Brake Kit # AKFBBRK-35-D along with the # BRKH10B mounting hardware. These are free backing brakes so you don't have to worry about a lockout when you're in...

The hub/drum includes the inner and outer bearings, races, the grease seal, dust caps for both EZ Lube and standard spindles as well as lug nuts. The hubs are pre-packed with grease.
