Replacement 10" Electric Brakes For A 2019 nuCamp T@G Trailer

Updated 06/29/2026 | Published 06/19/2026

Question:

Hello, I have a 2019 Nucamp T@G tear trailer with 10 inch Dexter electric brakes that I use with a brake controller in my vehicle. I had a shop repair them last summer but they are squealing. I think it might be best to replace them. Can you give me some guidance on how to go about doing that and what I need to purchase? By the way. I really appreciate all the products and support you guys have provided me over the years. Sincerely,

Welcome back Joseph!

What you are looking at for your 2019 nuCamp T@G trailer is the following part:

Terran Industries Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left/Right Hand - 3.5K # TX97ZJ

The 10" brakes you have means you have a 3,500 pound axle, which these will fit perfectly. These use the standard 4-bolt mounting pattern (see included image) and are self-adjusting, which is definitely the way to go. It means you don't have to crawl under your trailer every so often to tighten up the brakes to make sure they are getting the best purchase when you brake. That said, these do not include mounting hardware so if your hardware is looking a little rough, you will want to grab the # BRKH10B (which covers both left and right brakes).

One other thing to note, if your brakes are currently squealing, they could be doing a little damage to the inside of the drums. I recommend pulling one (or both) off and making sure all the inside surfaces are still nice and smooth. If they are, you are good to keep using them. If they are starting to get grooves in them, you will want to replace them as well. For that, the etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K would be a direct replacement, though you will need two to cover one axle (the # TX97ZJ is both left and right, so you will only need the one to cover one axle).

What has been your favorite place you have taken your camper so far?

Thanks! That is so helpful Lazer. I will take a look at what I need and get those ordered. I knew you guys would help point me in the right direction. Favorite place I’ve taken my T@G so far is hard to narrow down. Been all over with it. From right on the beach in Destin Florida. To just across the river from Manhattan New York City. To Glacier National Park. My favorite recent trip was a dispersed campsite right on a hidden lake in the middle of the Chippewa National Forest. Thanks again. Sincerely, Joe

@JosephK Nice! Sounds like you get around! If you ever find yourself on the west coast, I highly recommend Mammoth Mountain in Southern/Central California. We used to go there every summer for mountain biking and there are a lot of really cool camping areas. They get some serious snow in the winter though, so I definitely recommend doing a summer trip if at all possible! ^___^ Have fun out there and just let me know if there is anything else I can help with!

@LazerS Hey. I dissembled my brakes and there was grease all over. I’m going to purchase and install everything you mentioned above but do you have any tips for avoiding this in the future?
