Updated 07/28/2026 | Published 07/14/2026

Question:

I am looking for the right side hydraulic brake set-up for 10 brakes for my Metal Craft boat trailer that hauls a 2003 Crestliner 1800 and GVW rated at 3500 and saw the : AKUBRK-35R-D online and was wondering if that would fit my boat trailer. Brake line comes in at angle from rear of trailer. Wheel hub is 5 lug and need wheel seal too. Can you help me out? Thanks!! Jim

Hey Jim,

Our etrailer Hydraulic Trailer Brake - Uni-Servo - Dacromet - 10" - Right Hand - 3,500 lbs # AKUBRK-35R-D are a perfect fit for your 3,500 axle on your Metal Craft boat. They're designed to accept the brake line's approach angle, so you don't have to worry about the lines not fitting with your brakes. These brakes are dacromet coated, so they're designed to resist rust and you'll be fine to dip the boat everyday if you'd like! I do want to mention that it's safer to replace axle components at the same time so you should replace both with our etrailer Hydraulic Trailer Brakes - Uni-Servo - Dacromet - 10" - Left/Right - 3.5K # AKUBRK-35-D. This is the exact same brake but in a kit. The nuts and lock washers for this brake kit are sold separately as Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies # BRKH10B.

Do you use that Crestliner 1800 out in mostly saltwater or freshwater? Is it more for fishing or family cruising on the water?

As Stated above, they should fit, I have a 1991 trailer, the only difference I experienced was my current brakes were bolted through from the inside with the nuts on the brake side. The replacement brakes have studs from the brake side and you have to put the nuts on the inside of the trailer. I did have to do a little grinding on my trailer frame just so I could get the nuts tightened. But it worked.

@Marc Thank for your reply! Was yours a boat trailer? I'm interested in the grinding process. Which part of the frame did you grind down? How much did you have to grind to get the brakes to fit?

Jerry, i ended up buying from the manufacture of Metal Craft in Salt Lake City. I was in a hurry for parts and they set me up very fast and I was afraid that being an aftermarket setup as you advertised, i really didn't want to wait and have to send back if it didn't fit. Salt Lake City is 125 miles from me and received it in 3 days, so everything went together without and alternations and back in business to go fresh water bass fishing close to home! Thanks for your reply. Much aporeciated! Jim

@Jim I'm glad to hear you're back on the road! I just got back from a trip to Kentucky Lake for some fishing, but between my whole family, we only caught about six (tiny) fish in five hours. Good thing we brought some with us just in case. Haha
