It is possible that the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Idler Hubs - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 72" Long - 2,000 lbs # 20545I-EZ-72-15 you were looking at will fit your 2012 Aliner Classic Camper but the only way to be sure it to measure your current axle, and find the axle rating of your current axle. Starting with the measurements you will need to know the hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center measurements. For example the # 20545I-EZ-72-15 has a hub face to hub face measurement of 72", and a spring center to spring center measurement of 58" as shown in the included diagram. Next you will need to confirm the rating of your current axle. On the center of the axle should be an axle tag that has the axle rating on it, if not we can determine the axle rating by using the GVWR of your trailer. The # 20545I-EZ-72-15 has a 2000lb rating. If you can confirm the measurements and axle rating of your current axle I would be happy to help you find the correct replacement. Thanks for the specifications on your axle! While we do not currently offer any torsion axles, I do have an option for you. I recommend going with the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Straight Spindle - Regular Tires - 2,000 lbs # ASR2KHDS01 which has the same 2000lb rating as your current axle, but bolts directly to the frame of your trailer so you do not need to worry about the hub face to hub face measurement. The heavy duty version is made out of thicker steel so it is quite a bit stronger than a typical 2000lb axle, has the brake flange you need so you can add brakes, and uses 3500lb axle hubs and brakes. This system uses a built in progressive rate AEON main spring that does a great job of absorbing road shock and since each side is independent you will get an improved ride quality. Regarding adding an axle with a higher axle rating, there is not really a benefit. The reason for this is you will not increase the GVWR of the trailer as you will be limited by the lowest rated component which would not be the trailer's frame. With the Timbren systems it would also mean the AEON spring is stiffer, and since you would not be able to load the trailer to the upper end of the rating you would experience a stiffer ride. Moving on to adding brakes you will need hub and drum assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K which have the same 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern allowing you to reuse your current wheels, braking assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA, and brake mounting hardware # BRKH10B. You will also need a break-away kit # 20400 which is required for trailers with electric trailer brakes. If your 2012 Aliner Classic Camper does not already have a 7-way connector you will need to add one using # HM20048 and # 38656. In addition you will need to use # 10-1-1 to run from the junction box the the brake magnets on the braking assemblies using heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5 for a weather tight connection. I went ahead and included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
