with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

Recommended for the transmission cooler install .... Did not see where it was needed.

by:

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

by:

Just what I needed.Got it in a couple of days.

  • Does Installing Transmission Cooler on 2003 Ford Expedition Require Special Fittings
For some vehicles we do have fitting adapters that thread into the radiator so that you'll have a barb fitting for the lines of the transmission cooler to attach to. We do not have any for your 2003 Ford Expedition though. Check out the install video I attached for the Derale part # D13503 on a very similar 2001 Ford Explorer and you'll see how we installed it without needing the adapters.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2004 Ford F-150 Towing in Mountains
Do you mean 4 wheel low 1 or low 2 gearing for your truck? You should keep the truck in 2 wheel drive when towing if you are on dry pavement. Putting the vehicle into 4 wheel drive will cause damage if you are on dry pavement. It would be a really smart idea to install a transmission cooler on your truck if you haven't installed one already. For that I recommend the Derale part # D13503 which is larger and very efficient. You'll also want the fittings part # D13024 and # D13025 to make...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler 2010 Ford F-150 STX
If you are looking for the best transmission cooler available for your 2010 Ford F-150, I suggest the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV # D13504. This 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep, efficient heat exchanger will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance, though it is specifically designed for vehicles with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. The correct fitting will depend on which size fittings your...

  • Recommended Towing Products To Allow 2000 Ford F-150 To Safely Tow 3000-4000lb Boat Trailer
I would be happy to help, but there are a few items you listed that are not commonly used on a boat trailer. Typically boat trailers do not use electric trailer brakes thus eliminating the need for a trailer brake controller or controller wiring harness. Boat trailers more commonly use surge brakes which are hydraulic and use a surge brake coupler to control the braking force. Some surge brake actuators use an electric reverse lockout solenoid, so if the boat trailer you purchase has one...

  • Recommend Transmission Cooler for 2004 Ford Explorer
For your 2004 Ford Explorer the best way to pick out a transmission cooler is to go with the largest one you can fit in front of your radiator. A very popular option is the part # D13503 which measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. You will want to use the fitting part # D13025 to make installing the cooler a bit easier. You will want to run the fluid through your factory cooler and then to the supplemental cooler to maximize the cooling effect.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2003 Ford F-150 with 5.4 liter V8
Yes we have transmission coolers that will work great installed on your 2003 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 liter V8 engine like the larger and very efficient Derale # D13504 that requires the adapters # D13024 and # D13025.

  • Can a Derale Transmission Cooler Fit Inline With Factory Cooler on 2000 Ford F-250
The Derale Series 7000 Transmission Cooler, part # D13105, that you have referenced is a tube-fin design cooler and is a top rated transmission cooler. This Derale transmission cooler will fit inline with your factory transmission cooler. You will want to route the transmission fluid through the factory cooler first, and then through the # D13105 cooler, and finally back to your transmission. So the Derale cooler will be added after the factory transmission cooler in the radiator. See...

You are correct! The Derale # D13504 is a confirmed fit on your 2011 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L engine and you will need to use the # D13025 fitting to complete the installation, but that's the only additional part you need.

The Derale Series 9000 Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13614, would be a good choice. You will also need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, item # D13025, to complete the installation on your 5.4 Liter Expedition. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2000 Ford F-350 with 7.3 Liter and Heavy Towing
A large cooler like # D13105 that you have referenced would be a good choice. The larger the cooler and the more airflow it can get the more efficient it will be in cooling the transmission fluid. You may also need to add fitting # D13025 so you will not have to cut and flare lines. But I think you would benefit more from a remote cooler that has its own fan like # D13960. That way you will always get the optimum amount of cooling all the time. I have included a link to our FAQ article...

  • 1/2 Inch Hose Barb Fitting to Install Transmission Cooler on a 2005 Ford Expedition
We have a 1/2 inch compression fitting to go from 1/2 inch line to 1/2 inch NPT barb # D13033. I would actually have the flow go from the transmission, to the factory cooler in the radiator, then from there to the other cooler, and then to the Derale cooler before going back to the transmission. This is the normal way to install a supplemental cooler (at the end of the line). The fitting we have listed for the 2005 Ford Expedition is # D13025 which are 5/8 inch inverted flare fittings.

Part # D13025 allows you to connect to transmission return line without flaring the line when installing on your 1999 Ford F-250 Powerstroke. The best location for the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13504, on your Ford F350 7.3L Diesel would be between your vehicle grille and the air conditioning condenser. This location will give you the most airflow and allow the maximum cooling ability of the heat exchanger. You will want to measure to make sure you have clearance to install the heat exchanger. We have a few excellent transmission coolers that would be great additions to your 2009 Ford F-150 STX, but they will each be a little larger than your factory cooler and rightfully so since you will be towing a 7,000 lbs trailer. My best recommendation is the Derale Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13402. If you can fit a bigger transmission cooler than the part # D13502 then I would recommend you do that. Realistically, you can't go too big when it comes to transmission coolers. The biggest one you can fit will be your best option. The part # D13502 measures 11" Wide x 7-1/4" tall x 7/8" deep. If that's the biggest you can fit then I'd go with this one. Otherwise I'd look into a bigger one like the part # D13504 that measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep. I attached an install video...
