Question:

Im looking at installing a transmission cooler on my 2006 f250 5.4 V8. The Derale 13504 was recommended with the 13025 adapter. Where would I splice this in on my truck? I cant find a place that makes sense. Thanks in advance

Supplemental transmission coolers like the Derale # D13504 and adapter kit # D13025 that fit your 2006 Ford F-250 V8 are installed on the transmission's return line. This will be the line that carries the transmission fluid from the primary cooler back to the transmission. The Derale cooler will take in this pre-cooled fluid and continue to cool it before routing it back to the transmission.

If you start the cold truck, shift it into gear for about 15-seconds, and then shut it off you should be able to identify the return line, which will be the cooler of the two transmission lines.

If you'd rather not deal with plumbing in a secondary cooler you might prefer the advantages of a pan type cooler # D14208. You can use this item if you have one of these transmissions: E4OD, 4R100, 5R100, or 5R100W. Pan coolers actually add about 7 quarts of fluid to the system which provides cooling action along with the airflow through the tubes in the pan.
