Question:
Hi, Im looking to add a transmission cooler to my 2002 Ford F250 XLT super duty truck. I tow an RV travel trailer and looking to bring down my transmission temperature when climbing hills. Level ground temp seems to be fine. Which cooler would you recommend for my truck ? Also I have the 6.8 liter V10 in my truck. Thank you

When installing a transmission cooler, it is always a good idea to install the largest cooler that will fit in the space available on your truck. Transmission fluid cannot be over-cooled, however, if you live in a typically cold climate, it is a good idea to let your vehicle run for 10 minutes before taking off.
For your 2002 Ford F-250 XLT Super Duty, going with the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Cooler, # D13504, that you referenced would my recommendation. It is recommended to install the cooler in front of the AC condenser or the radiator. To ensure the cooler will fit, measure the space you have available at these locations. This cooler measures 11 inches wide x 12 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep.
Along with this cooler, I recommend picking up the Ford Radiator Adapter Fitting, # D13025. This fitting will allow you to install the cooler without having to cut and flare your transmission lines. If you find it easier to cut the lines because of their location, then you could use a compression fitting, like # D13032, instead.
