Transmission Cooler Recommendation For 2011 Ford Escape

Published 09/19/2014

Question:

I am trying to ready our 2011 Ford Escape for a long haul with our trailer. I noticed you are listing Transmission coolers for the 2012 3.0. I was told by the dealer parts guy, you could NOT add a cooler. This due to some exotic use of the ACs condenser coil attached to the trans cooler. Did you guys actually install one in a 11, 3.0 Escape? I would sure like to see a video and would really love to add one to this vehicle. Thx in advance,

I spoke with Ford and they told me that there would be no problem adding a transmission cooler to your 2011 Ford Escape. You will want to check your owner's manual on recreational towing for any restrictions. The Tech told me the only restrictions might be the space that a cooler needs, but that is always the case when considering a transmission cooler on a vehicle.

For your Escape, I recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13502. This measures 11 inches Wide x 7-1/4 inches tall x 7/8 inch deep, so you may want to check under the hood to make sure you have the room needed for this cooler. You would also need the Ford transmission line fittings, part # D13025. The best spot to install a transmission cooler is directly behind the grille, in front of the radiator and A/C condenser.

I have attached a helpful article about transmission coolers you can check out.
