Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Round-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese Ram OEM 5th Wheel Rail Adapter Review

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this Reese 5th-Wheel Adapter. So it's gonna be an adapter for your OEM puck system in the back of your truck so that you can put on a fifth wheel. Now we're gonna be putting on a 2022 Ram 2500 today. Now this 5th-Wheel Adapter is gonna be a base for your fifth wheel. So this drops down into the puck system.

That's OEM, it's already in your truck bed, which means you don't have to drill any holes to install a fifth wheel and makes it really easy to put this in when you need it or even take it out when you don't want it in here. Use the pucks in the back of the bed. So it's as easy as picking up the adapter and setting into place. So I'm gonna do that by staying in the middle of it. You grab both ends, bend at the knees, go ahead and lift it up.

Again, bend at the knees, drop into place. You line up the bottom parts right with the pucks and it falls into place. Now make sure it falls flat into place. All around, you might have to adjust if it's moving around just a little bit. You see the back end needs to go down so just make sure you put your hand.

Your apportion where there's the indent in the bed so you don't smash your hand. There you go, that one's down in place. Looks like we've gotta fix this one as well. Just some minor adjustments. Far easier than lifting a whole assembly.

So I need to turn this arm in a little bit and it'll fall into place. There we go, and now I fold all the arms in. They all meet in the middle. On both sides, we're gonna do that and add our clips. With the arms, pulled it in and on top of each other, you can just drop the pins through and push the clip over it. That's gonna keep them in place and do that on both sides. Now, if it didn't go right in the place, it's not perfect every time, you can do some adjustments. So if the first time it's a little rough, you can come here with a screwdriver, pop off this plastic cap. It wasn't installed when we unboxed it so that's something we added on there. So maybe leave 'em off for the first installation. But once that's exposed now you can use the tool that's included to make some adjustments so you can back this off. So it's gonna raise or lower that bolt to make it a little bit easier for it to drop into place. With it dropped and locked into place, you see I can't lift up on it so it's not gonna go anywhere. Another nice thing about the adapter is if you already have a fifth wheel assembly, chances are it will fit in here. I'm gonna give you the measurements from center to center. On the outermost holes, it's gonna be 29 inches. From inside to inside, center to center, it's gonna be 21 inches. So if it matches up with one of those it's gonna drop right into place. The adapter's gonna be compatible with: B&W, Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley Above Bed 5th-Wheel trailer hitches. It also works with most industry standard sliders. The adapter is rated for 25,000 pounds and also it adds two inches of height to your fifth wheel. So if you are using an existing one that's set up already, you might have to adjust that head height just to make sure it adjusts to that extra two inches. And then the assembly itself is matted with black powder coated steel, so we know it's gonna hold up. Overall, I think this adapter's gonna be really helpful especially if you've just got a new truck with this system. You don't have to buy a whole new setup. You just buy this adapter and use the fifth wheel you already had which makes everything easier. You don't have to get used to using a new assembly or anything. You just drop this into place, install it, and you're good to go. It's an easy way to convert the under bed fifth wheel to an over bed fifth wheel. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out. Hope this helped..

  • Recommended Aftermarket Underbed Puck System for 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500
For your 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500, the manufacturer puck system is not available in aftermarket but there is a very similar option to give you the 4 pucks. It is the Reese Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30868. This system is a confirmed fit for your truck and if you want to also add the 5th hole for the gooseneck you can do that using the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Head Kit - 25,000 lbs # RP30158. • Difference Between Reese 30154 For Ram & 30156 Puck System Adapter
The difference is indeed the measurements as the Ford puck system utilizes the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter for Standard 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30156 and the Ram requires the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # RP30154. The Ford trucks have pucks that are spaced 30" apart horizontally and 13" apart vertically, while the Ram uses pucks that are 39" apart horizontally and 22-1/2" apart vertically. If your Grand Design Reflections 150 comes with a Lippert Turning Point Pin Box then there will be no need for a Reese Sidewinder as these both serve the same purpose which is to move the pivot point therefore making for more turning clearance. • Will a Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch be able to Tow a Trailer with a GVWR of 16,000 Lbs
Even though your Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch, like # RP30075, is rated up to your trailers GVWR of 16,000 lbs, I would not recommend using this hitch to pull this trailer. Being that you are right at the limit the potential for overload is great with a 16K hitch. I recommend upgrading to a hitch like the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs, # RP30083. This Reese hitch has a 20K gross towing capacity and a vertical load limit of 5,000 lbs. The Reese...

  • Is a Longer Pin Box Available for a 5th Wheel Trailer with Lippert 1116 Pin Box
The replacement pin boxes that we carry are roughly the same dimensions as the pin boxes they are made to replace and would not provide you the additional 12 inches you are looking for. In order to get the length you need I do recommend a Sidewinder. For a Lippert 1116 pin box you can use: 16K Air ride Sidewinder, # RP61412 I have included links to our FAQ articles on Sidewinders and air ride pin boxes. One thing that I noticed was that you have Pro Series hitch # PS30132 which is...

  • Location of 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2055 Dodge Ram 2500 with 6-1/2 Bed
The head unit of your 5th wheel hitch should sit above or slightly in front of the rear axle on your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 6-1/2' bed. The exact location though will be determined by where your base rails sit. We have a few different options of base rails with the difference being the difficulty of installation. With all of the kits the distance from the back of your cab to where the king pin sits will be about 36" which you can use to get an idea for where your hitch will sit. If...

  • Difference Between Square and Round Tube Fifth Wheel Slider Bases
Round tube sliders are preferred as they operate smoother and easier. The square tube sliders will get the job done but the round ones will just work a bit easier. The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider # RP30075 will a great option that would work well to replace what you have. It will give you more turning clearance around corners to prevent cab interference.

  • What is Correct Placement Of Goose Neck Hitch Ball in Full Size Pickup
A goose neck hitch ball, or the center of a 5th wheel hitch head for that matter, will be located either right over the rear axle or an inch or so forward of it. You do not want a goose neck hitch ball to be located behind the rear axle since this would cause the trailer's tongue weight to push down on the rear end causing lots of sag and at the same time lift the front end of the truck. The elevated front end would cause your lights to be aimed too high and would also negatively affect...

  • Converting Fixed Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch to Slider for Cab Clearance with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
It sounds like you have the Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch model # RP30047. If this is the case then you can simply replace the fixed legs with the Reese Square Tube Slider # RP30048 in order to convert it to a sliding model. Please keep in mind though that while a sliding hitch will certainly provide you with more cab clearance compared to a fixed unit, typically with a 5-1/2 foot bed a pivoting pin box on the trailer is needed to allow for 90 degree turns. The Reese slider will offer 10...

  • Converting Reese 16K Round Tube Slider Hitch to Stationary Base
If your Reese 16K slider hitch is part # RP30075 then you can indeed use fixed leg kit # RP30727 to convert it to a stationary hitch and save a bit of weight. If you have the Reese Titan series 16K hitch RP30869 then the correct fixed leg kit is part # RP58449. I confirmed the compatibility of these two kits with the above-referenced hitches with my technical contact at Reese.

  • Can One Fifth Wheel Hitch Be Used in Ford and GMC Trucks with Factory Rail Kits
If you used the appropriate rail kit adapter in each truck you'd be able to use the same fifth wheel hitch. For the Ford truck you'd need the part # RP30156 and for the GMC 3500 you'd need the Demco adapter part # DM6194 for if you have a short bed truck or part # DM6206 for if you have a long bed. If the trucks have short beds you'd need a slider like the Reese part #RP30075 or if you have a long bed truck you'd want the # RP30047.

  • Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation to Replace an Older Reese Hitch in a GMC Sierra
Your old Reese hitch is designed to fit the same industry standard rail dimensions that the current fifth wheel hitches like the part # RP30047 would fit. The # RP30047 would be a great option for you if you had a long bed truck. It has a slightly higher towing capacity than your previous hitch and features a 2 piece jaw that provides great king pin contact. It will install easily in your current rails. I attached a review video for this hitch for you to check out as well. Since you have...

  • Replacement Slider Hitch Recommendation to Replace Reese 30026 Classic 14k Hitch
I spoke to my contact at Reese and he informed me that the hitch you have is pretty old Reese 14k Classic fifth wheel hitch. It's old enough that they do not know for certain if you could convert it to a slider hitch. He recommended that you just go with a new slider hitch like the part # RP30075. This hitch will install on the rails you have installed in the bed of your truck and will slide back when you activate it so that you can make tight turns. When the hitch is slid forward in...
