The problem with the slider companion hitch is that it is 17" tall minimum and I need less than 17 (preferably 15.5 to 16) any other suggestions?

The Reese 20k hitch part # RP30083 with the adapter part # RP30154 would be a great option. This is a couple inches shorter than the Companion and also has a very tight jaw system plus a smooth slider.
