This adapter will mount directly to the factory puck system on your 2018 Ram 3500 and provide you with industry standard, above-bed base rails. Your existing model 30866 Reese 5th Wheel Hitch, which is compatible with industry standard, above-bed base rails, will work perfectly with this adapter and allow you to easily switch to your new truck with your current hitch.

Since your 2018 Ram 3500 has the 6 foot 4 inch bed, I do recommend going with a sliding 5th wheel hitch. You will not have the necessary cab clearance with a fixed hitch on your short bed truck. What you can do is actually convert your existing Reese 30866 Hitch to a sliding unit by replacing its legs with part # RP50024. This will provide you with 10 inches of travel for the necessary turn clearance and is compatible with your hitch. I confirmed this with my contact at Reese. You will then still be able to use the Adapter # RP30154 mentioned above with your factory puck system.
